Is there a Monday post?

Re: Is there a Monday post?

  • That was unusual.  I just got a VM from an Urgent Care chain that they need to verify my address because I have a refund due to me.  Isn't that usually the other way around, lol?

The super weird thing is, I haven't been to an Urgent Care since January...and I don't think it was that one.  I think this is from a visit almost 3 years ago.

She didn't tell me how much it is for.  Watch it be for some random small amount, like $4.37.

I would be cautious--that sounds like a scam.  It's possible that it's legit, but it could easily be a phishing scheme.
Yes, I agree it could be phishing.

But also, my current insurance charges $150 for Urgent Care.  The max per visit amount at the Urgent Care around the corner is $120.   I got a check recently for $30 for my February visit (they collected $150 at that appt.).  And when we took DefConn a couple months ago, the lady at the front desk was shocked that it was $150 and just charged us the $120.

So, I'd look up the number for the Urgent Care you went to and ask if they called you about a refund vs. calling the number left on VM.
  • We had a productive weekend. Finished up yard work. I decorated part of the house for Christmas since we are going to be gone the weekend before Thanksgiving. I usually do non-Thanksgiving areas then and do the main floor the weekend after Thanksgiving. I got a new "desk" to do scrapbooking on. Today I went to Crate and Barrel for one thing and of course bought more!! This afternoon I'm waiting for a guy from Home Depot to come and give us estimates on refacing laundry room and one bathroom's cabinets. Hope it doesn't cost too much!
  • My weekend was uneventful. Just a lot of sitting around watching netflix. I got unexpectedly drunk last night and am nursing that hangover with margaritas at lunch today.
Today was my last day working at the barn and I am almost in tears about it. I still ride on thursday, and my trainer let me pick my favorite horse (and have stirrups cuz #nostirrupsnovember) for my last ride. Leaving the barn is harder than leaving the united states.
I decided to drive back to Homaha to surprise my mom/family/friends for thanksgiving. That forced my hand to be out of our place this Friday in order to take the dog to MIL's. I am giving my car to my little brother so I will fly back to CHS the beginning of December. Then I just wait.

Thanks for the warning, but its legit.  It's a local number and I googled it, because I didn't recognize it, before I listened to the VM.  Once I had the company name from my google search, I even had the bill handy on my computer because it was part of an auto accident claim.  The number was also the same.

I got glasses for the first time Friday and still getting used to them anyone else feel weird for a few days after?

Give it time--I've had the since I was 12 and EVERY new script = 'huh, the world looks funny"
And be careful looking at your feet when you walk while you're adjusting--either you stomp (because you think the ground is farther than it is) or you nearly fall(because you thik the ground is closer than it is)

    Yay for running.

All around I think there's a lot of crap right now.  I think I'm going back to bed.
yep.  I also got my first pair glasses at the same age.  Although I've been wearing contacts almost exclusively since I was 17.   When I do switch from contacts to glasses it always feels weird (although I adjust fairly quickly).  Totally normal.
So glad it's not just me that feels like everything is slightly off.
Is this your first pair?  I have an insane script, but I've been in glasses/contacts since second grade so I'm used to it.  But my previous pair had a small lens (size wise) and I realized the difference between my corrected vision and my peripheral vision made me nauseous.  I'd try to stay focused through the lens and not around.  Many chain places have 30 day return policies too, so if you're still not adjusted in a week or so I'd ask about that.
Yes. First time for glasses ever. And the prescription isn't that bad, but just adjusting to the focusing I think. They did say to come back in a few days if it isn't right. Although I did already go back because the frames weren't fitted properly.
  • @charlotte989875, I have worn prescription lenses since I was 8.  99% of the time, I wear contacts, and it's always weird when the script (stupid strong) changes (usually because I don't notice it's changed until I do something like rub my eye and realize I can't read the license plate of the car in front of me, so being able to see again is
    )...

But when I go from contacts immediately to glasses it's indescribably strange.

  • -8.0 in contacts checking in.  Glasses always make me feel weird.  I HAAAAAAATED prescription safety glasses because I always felt drunk.
  • Man, I should not complain.  I'm -4.75 and -5.75.

I don't have RX safety glasses, I just get my normal glasses with the right lens so I avoid that nonsense.

    I know right?  I'm -4.75 and -5.00.

No need for safety glasses.    I don't even bother with prescription sunglasses either.  I'm 99% a contact girl.  Regular sunglass or snow goggles work just fine.

Actually, I need to upgrade my glasses because I've only updated contacts the last couple of times.  The rare times I do wear glasses the lower prescription isn't an issue.

  • I had LASIK done 3 years ago and it has been the best $4600 I've ever spent.

This weekend was pretty good. I decided not to go to my niece's wedding because my pelvis was hurting too much to go sit on hay bales. Saw some pictures from the wedding and there weren't even blankets on most of the bales. My mom didn't go either for the same reason except because of her back. It looked like only 20 people were there. I feel bad for her...kind of. I also had to assume that not asking for RSVPs meant no food for a 5pm wedding.

We went and picked up the flash drive with our wedding photos and I can't believe I did this, but I didn't have the photographer do ANY posed photos of just me or me and my bridesmaids. She got one of me getting ready to get off the train and there's one of the 3 of us leaning on the windows of the train. That's it. Also, only 1 posed of me and H.

DSC, this is my worry too.  We were so pressed for time, plus had to do a dry run onsite that we dont have many pictures taken, and not a whole lot with the whole party (then again, we didn't really have scenic options either so one is enough).  I dont think we have many of DH and I and I wish we could have done more.  We did first look, but I'm almost positive that those will come out awkward because I was so nervous and the photographer said "ok everyone come out and look out the window to get a good view".

anyway, you're not alone.  I should have had a list done up of stuff I wanted because I forgot a lot.  I just told her family family family.  Pictures of family were important to us.

The sad thing is, I did have a list. I got a bunch of pictures of us getting ready which I didn't want, but am glad I have and hardly any after. We didn't do a first look and there's a bunch of him and the GM. Oh well...this was a friend trying to get her business started so she didn't charge us anything. We gave her a $300 "tip." I feel like it's my fault that we didn't get more pictures because we ladies weren't ready in time, but at the same time, I wish she would have spoken up and said, "Hey! We only got that one of you guys, let's squeeze some more in real quick."

oh that sucks!  I'm sorry. Plus, everything is going full speed, so I know it's not easy to stop and remember all of that.   I'd love to see some of them though!  That was my problem exactly.  None of us were ready and I have a ton of "getting ready" and I'm in my pj's lol. ugh.

I'm sorry to hear that about your photos!  I'm sure there are still beautiful ones to choose from, but it is odd to not have some of just you and some of you with your BMs.

Since it is a friend starting a business, I would give her some constructive criticism.  Like, "We loved the pics!  Thank you so much again for taking the time to photograph our wedding.  I know you are just starting in this business and wanted to mention a few things...(talk about the pics you would have liked, which are pretty standard poses).  I'd be happy to be a referral for you anytime."  This is assuming you did love the pics that were there and would be happy to be a referral.

I didn't even realize how lucky I got with my photog.  Despite being on this board a few months before my wedding, it never even occurred to me to give her a list of photos I wanted.  But she rocked.  She got all the standard posed shots, plus took cool pics I wouldn't have thought of.

This is why I'm anti-tipping the photographer the day of.  My brother's wedding photos sucked.  Of course, it was only after he got tipped they found out.

We choose to tip in the form of buying prints from our photographer.  They were a lot more than other places, but it was worth it to us.  If the photos didn't turn out we didn't feel bad for not tipping or getting non-package prints from him.

We had a list and our photographer was good at honoring it.  The only pictures we  didn't get was a group shot of us with his mom and siblings.  We have us and my side, him with his side.  Oh well.  Not the end of the world.

    Yay for the beautiful pictures.

  • "This Monday is the Monday of all Mondays."  (Phrase courtesy of our office assistant.)  She also described herself as having "mashed potatoes for brains" today.

It's contagious.  I just got her to print 50 invitations to my client happy hour tomorrow for guests who will be in-house at the time.  Printed using the fancy printer on fancy branded note cards, then signed by me.  I signed all 50, started putting them in individually-labeled envelopes, and noticed that in all my very nice note about how much we appreciate their business, yadda yadda yadda, I hadn't actually put the hours that the damn thing runs.  D'oh!  Now I am on round 2, and I am officially a dumbass.

I love those pictures, @MissKittyDanger! You both look adorable!
  • @lyndausvi  Urg I know! Meds working pretty quick, so I'm pretty happy. And thanks :)

@OurWildKingdom  thanks :) I'm so glad how they turned out!

We gave her the tip Saturday when we picked up the flash drive, but before we saw the pictures. She sent me a preview a couple weeks ago and they were great so I had no reason to think the rest wouldn't be. And what she did get are great.
