Now I'm mad at you @Barbie for starting this thread, lol.  The woman who manages the United Way campaign came around with her materials.  Apparently the campaign has started up again and I'm blaming the karma of this thread, lol.

Seriously, though.  I just wanted to fall over in my chair laughing at the coincidence. 

Now that I think about it, I think it is usually done at the end of the year because then people can choose to donate a percentage of each paycheck throughout the year for next year.  But that's not pressured at all.

It was all I could do not to blurt out, "Are you serious?  I'm getting laid off from here sometime by the end of the month."  But I'm not supposed to know that.  It was told to me in confidence by a reliable source.  So I had to almost bite my tongue off and stay silent.
