Re: Tuesday

  • Job vibes to the H's today!

I hope that healthy vibes come to DSC, Mouse, SSC's sister, and SPG's dad!

Last night we both went to the doctor's office to try and get out T-DAP shots for the baby.  Doctor wouldn't give either of us the shot because we hadn't been to the office in so long.  However had my actual dr been there, it would have gotten done - but he is out from a surgery until March.  So even though I have been under the care of doctor's for the last year + with this fertility stuff, its not good enough for a PCP.  Also, the doctor on call yesterday said I was too early, even though my OB said to go get the shot now.  So we wasted over 30 minutes waiting around there for nothing.  If I didn't love my dr so much, I would never go to this place because otherwise - they suck.  My dr used to be a solo and moved to the medical school to teach and mentor, so if we want to see him as a patient, it's at the medical school's office - and they are the worst.

Not much going on today.  We will either paint the bathroom more or decorate the tree.  Probably do the tree so we can finish decorating the house and get those containers back in the basement.

  • I'm currently wasting time at work watching some chick try to hatch a Hatchimal. I don't get this toy. You basically jack it off forever and then an animal pops out?
Just fucking spit out my soup at this I am laughing so hard right now.
Sorry. Now there's two chicks jacking it off. I'm pretty sure I've seen this porno before.
And this is the 'hot toy' for kids this year.  WTF?
  • @SaintPaulGal Try Christmas Tree Shop if you have one near you.  They do online too, though I've never purchased from them online.

I just remembered I have another mini rant.  I was checking my registry yesterday and the crib bedding that I spent forever trying to find is out of stock and not available in stores, which means its probably discontinued as only certain pieces are still available.  I want something that is gender neutral with a little bit of color so it can pop - not just true neutral colors.  No animals or themes, just some geometric patterns or something like that.  I'm very displeased I will now have to begin the search all over again.

Apparently. I'm so glad Mouse is too young for this shit.

DefConn rarely watches traditional kids TV, so he hasn't seen commercials for them. And he's into trucks/cars and Legos, almost exclusively (besides 'playing' his guitar and singing), so I don't think they'd hold appeal for him anyway.
  • M2 asked for one and I flat out said no.
  • Thanks so much for the shopping tips, everyone!  @OliveOilsMom, we don't have Christmas Tree Shop, but there is something called Seasonal Concepts that I always intend to check out and have never actually been to.  Your suggestion reminded me that that place exists (thought that might have been the name of the one here, but it turns out they are different.)

This is the sort of pitcher I am looking for.  I found one at Williams Sonoma, but it's almost 200 freaking dollars and...well, "hell no" doesn't even begin to describe it.
  • My mom got hatchimals for my two girls and their two cousins that are the same ages.  I think they look cool.  However, I lurved my tomagotchi and kept that shit alive for.e.ver.

I watched another video of it and it is definitely the Tomagotchi of 2016. These chicks in this video haven't followed directions at all and are just rubbing and rubbing and rubbing.
  • @DrillSergeantCat I just laughed until I snorted in my office. Loudly.

@OliveOilsMom if you have a health department near you, they usually give Tdaps. Often for free.

I think all of our fish are dying. This morning, one of them was "swimming" vertically. But when I opened the lid to feed them, he perked up. Two others were just sort of sitting on the gravel on the bottom, but alive, and also moved when I fed them. They sort of look stoned. I guess I'm cleaning out an aquarium when I get home.

Pure Tuesday afternoon randomness, because I need a break from Excel and SAP (and--related--I also think I need glasses).

I got DS a white sweatshirt with dinosaurs on it for his white shirt.  Impulse bought Wooz this fluffy pink sweatshirt, because if she had her way she would dress in fluff all the time.  I had a $10 rewards credit so the whole shebang only set me back $12 something with tax.

Nosy Coworker was complaining to me that they're still using his corporate card for email credits.  When I went to talk to New Designer about an email she made for me, she asked if it was okay to use Nosy's corporate card again, and I said to talk to Nosy and our boss.  This morning, Nosy came in (first thing) to complain that they used his corporate card again.  I said that I told Designer to talk to Boss and him first.  "Well, she did, and I said it was okay, but--"  So I interrupted him (I usually try not to interrupt, but I make exceptions) and said "That's probably why she used it, then."  He's such a fucking martyr about everything--he does this all the time, and it's annoying.  Speak up or shut up.

Room Dad still can't find his ass with both hands and a flashlight.  What is so hard about this?  He's basically like "Thanks for the links, how do I do this?"  I'm trying to be patient, but I'm starting to worry for his child.  Also, he is a realtor, and I would never, ever recommend him to anyone, unless they basically want to sell their house themselves.

It looks like I'm doing the game again for the class party.  No one ever wants to sign up for the game.

My mom's surgeon is not recommending the lumpectomy.  Single mastectomy.

ETA: just got an email from DS's teacher specifying a plain white shirt, and asking us to send it with them Thursday so they can change all the kids before the show. LOLOLOL.  A) We're committed to dinosaurs now, and b) good luck with three teachers and 16 kids getting them all changed.  I hope she starts at like 3:45. :D

I swar I got my mom that exact pitcher at either BB&B or target a few years ago
  • I just opened an e-mail from someone who's frustrated they can't get logged into their account.

The last line literally says: "baloney expletive."

    Same Wooz, same. I have adult fluffy things {ie; fluff inside a sweater}

    Good luck DS teacher! lmao
  • M is scared. I've gotten into my debt busting shows {Gail Vaz-Oxlade! Met her. I have her book. I am on this!} and the couponing shows. Last night I watched 4 eps of "Extreme Couponers" and bitched about the stock pile of shit you don't need to stock pile, then turned into "I should get a stock pile of things. We use them enough ..." which also turned to "I NEED TO COUPON!!"

Years ago, I had a friend of a friend who was a realtor.  Maybe she was a different person "on the job".  But, socially, she was always late and a scatterbrain.  She was also very "me" oriented and didn't pay much attention to what other people said.  When I first met her, I was considering her as my agent because I had started thinking about buying my first place.  I didn't know anybody else and she was an acquaintance.  But once, I got to know her better, quickly put the kibosh on that!  She was the polar opposite of what I'd want in an agent.

I'm sorry to hear your mom's surgeon is not recommending the lumpectomy.  That's disappointing.

  • @Heffalump how does your mom feel about that?  I know she was hoping for the lumpectomy.

The cardigan I just bought for myself from DH for Christmas (yes, that's how I roll) is sooooo... soft on the inside.  It's a sweater made out of sweatshirt material.

I'm wearing it right now because I'm savage AF and don't have to wait for Christmas, since I'm the mom and I buy and wrap all the gifts.
It's okay. M and I decided to go out after xmas and get me things. I told him he can either come with me and pay {with budget}, or give me cash and I go alone. He's lazy shopper.

Also ... why wait? Tis the season?
  • @Heffalump - I'm sorry the docs aren't recommending the lumpectomy for your mom. Sending you both hugs and lots of positive healing vibes.

  • @PrettyGirlLost  are they really messing it up or is the schedule in midst of changing? I know when we moved, it was a weird schedule and we've fucked it up twice {pick up on certain things aren't every week} If they aren't sticking to schedule, can you go higher than Waste Management and get it fixed?

@ShesSoCold  vibes for your sister! Being an only child, my parents put in their living will that if 2 drs say that if a plug is pulled, the person won't live then it can be done without having family to give permission. Could she look at doing that? This way it saves everyone the heartache
No, they are really messing it up.

Like I said, all the neighbors' garbage was collected- I know bc I looked in their cans, lol- but our garbage was not collected.  However one of our recycling cans was emptied.  When I get home tonight I'll see if the rest of the recycling was actually picked up by the recycling truck.

Last week was garbage only and they didn't get ours.

When I tried complaining to the borough over the summer, they passed it off on Waste Management.  If I could figure out a way not to pay my taxes since I'm only getting service 1/4 of the time, that would wake the borough up.

  • Re; dressing kids - I took Wolverine shopping last thursday and got her some clothes at Target. I found this really cute tee on clearance that had the captain america shield in reversible sequins (the other side was the avengers). It was pretty cool, and she basically lost her shit when i showed her how it works. it's now her absolute favorite article of clothing - but it's also annoying to keep hearing the scratching/zipping sound of flipping hundreds of sequins to make the other design. like over and over again.

she was asking to wear it to school - and i'm a little wary because i could see it being a distraction. right now she has a maybe, with a threat of if i get a call/note about it, it disappears.
  • @Heffalump I'm sorry for the not so great news.  Does her oncologist/surgeon think she has a good prognosis with the mastectomy though?
