Good morning, WW!  How was the weekend?  Everyone survive?

Wooz had a rough weekend.  When I picked her up Friday afternoon, she was crying.  I have an emotional kid, so at first I was concerned, but figured it was something like "We didn't get to finish the Lego treehouse before you showed up and now I'm bereft."  Nope.  A couple minutes before, another kid lost his shit, threw a chair, and it hit Wooz and one of her friends in the head.  :O  Her head was okay, fortunately, but she was shaken up.  I didn't get to speak with the director in person, since she was with the kid and his mom when I arrived, but she called when we were en route to Trader Joe's to make sure Wooz was okay and assure me that "the child in question has been separated from our program."  So that was that.

Saturday morning, DH took her to her riding lesson while DS and I took the cats to the vet.  That ran over and we ended up missing DS's swim lesson, so we were going to meet them at the barn.  But I had laundry to do, and DS wanted to work on a puzzle (he is obsessed with floor puzzles lately), so I decided to just stay home.  Thus, we missed Wooz being thrown from her horse hard enough to crack her helmet.  Yikes.  Fortunately, she was fine.  Must be nice to be 7--DH and I were saying if it had been one of us, we'd still be stiff and sore.  I think she literally bounced back.  Got back on her asshole horse and finished her lesson, then went to the tack store for a new helmet.  DH also took her for ice cream on the way back. :)

Yesterday was awesome.  Beautiful weather.  Drove up to Chimney Rock, had our picnic, hiked the easy little family trail.  Then we tackled one of the bigger trails, which is 90% stairs.  DS took it like a champ, and he was the one I was most concerned about.  We did not get to the highest, toughest trail, because DS was tired, both from climbing and because it was naptime.  Wooz wants to go back and do it as a Mommy/Wooz thing in a few weeks.

And that was pretty much my whole weekend, aside from laundry and stuff.  I thought of y'all as I changed the sheets. :)

My weekend didn't go as planned.

Friday, we were supposed to get takeout and clean house.  Take-out happened.  But not much else.

Saturday, we tag-teamed some stuff and then DH and the kids went to FIL's to have guy time for FIL's bday.  My friends were supposed to come over, but one friend had her ankle reconstructed as a teenager due to a sports injury and one of the screws from that surgery came loose. Her ankle was (is?) swollen and she was on pain meds.  My other friend is divorcing her husband and bad shit went down (I can't go into it, but she and her kids are safe), so she wasn't able to come over either.  I watched Netflix and talked off and on with my friend on the phone since stuff was a HAM for her.

Sunday, I worked a little bit.  I took my friend (the divorcing one) to lunch and we did some shopping.  I was supposed to see SIL and nephew, but she didn't get with me (she had plans and we were supposed to meet up afterward).  DH told me that he knew there was some shit with her mom (SIL's mom has issues with mental health and possibly addiction), so she might have been tired after dealing with that.   I'm going to shoot her a text today and see what she's got going on before she heads home (to OH).

Wow - Wooz did have a rough couple of days.  Glad she's ok!

Friday night we relaxed at home and caught up on the latest episode of Nashville.  Both DH and I about jumped out of our chairs at the end!

Saturday morning I woke up to a sick DH.  He was running a low grade temp, had the chills and a congested chest.  He laid low all day.  I went to the sectional wrestling meet with my brother and family.  My nephew's team won both rounds and is headed to state.  (Nephew wrestles JV as an 8th grader and varsity is going to the state tournament).

Sunday I woke up not feeling quite right.  I was up an hour or so and then went back to bed for another hour.  DH woke me up because we had to get going to my birthday party.  We met my family and some of his at a local pizza place and had a good time.  I just felt tired and fuzzy headed.  II ended up going to bed at 7 PM and woke up this morning at 5 feeling pretty good.

After we got home from the party my phone started blowing up with messages from a friend about another friend who go engaged.  LSS - Engaged friend has been with this guy for about 4 yrs and has broken up twice due to his cheating. I hope things work out well for them and I really hope she doesn't get hurt again.

My birthday is today and I'm at work but my cube was decorated and there's a nice card from my co-workers.  DH and I are going to dinner tonight.

@MNNEBride, happy birthday!  And congrats to your nephew--that's impressive.

@charlotte989875, those cookies are adorable.  And that cake!  Good luck with the interview prep.  And yeah, we had a hard time deciding where we wanted to go yesterday--it's nice having a lot of options. :)

My weekend was ok, got out for lots of sunshine on walks although baby was a bit fussy from being in his car seat so much. I'm working from home today but lots of people are off (coworkers and clients) so it should be pretty quiet.

Going to take the baby for a run after he wakes up from his nap (or until I give in to the screaming and get him up, whichever happens today). I am finding it very hard to motivate myself to run even on these nice days.  I'm signed up for an 8K (it's just shy of 5 miles I think) in April so I have about 8 weeks to get into shape for it. Ha. Might need to drop to the 5K.

H is off today and doesn't feel well. I really hope it isn't a real sickness and it is just something he ate not agreeing with him because I need him to go to work this week because my days home with the baby are so much better when he's gone. Not to mention a real sickness would suck in case baby or I caught it. Now if he'd just go lay down in bed instead of moaning on the couch in the living room where I am that would be great.

Also, @thefanciestbeckler I started Beachbody yesterday, and I can barely move today. And I did one of the "easier" workouts. Eff that, easy was hard.

I *hate* when DH or the kiddo do that shit.  Quarantine thyself, damn it.

Poor Wooz, thankfully she wasn't badly hurt!

@charlotte989875 that cake is so cute!

    @MNNEBride happy birthday!

I had such a nice weekend with the hubs. Friday we grabbed happy hour and then were lazy straight through around 3pm Saturday when we went downtown (our city not Detroit) for some shopping and dinner. Saturday night was a friends going away party. Yesterday,we took advantage of the beautiful weather and went for a hike in the local state park. A hike!  In February!  And then we saw Hidden Figures last night. Amazing!  I want to buy the DVD and save it for when the nugget turns 7 or so. Every little girl needs to see it.

Today he's off and I need to go into the office but I don't want to. I want to snuggle on the sofa.

Also Mitten House 0 Laundry 1. As it grows in a pile in the basement and I'm out of clothes that I actually like.

@Heffalump, glad Wooz is okay after all those knocks to her noggin!

    @MNNEBride, happy birthday!

@charlotte989875, good luck with the interview!  Sending good vibes.  I love that cute elephant on top of the cake and those cookies are just adorable.  What a fun idea to have people make creative onesies and bibs.

My weekend was great!  Our new tenants who signed the lease for the 2-bed unit, changed their mind and asked if we would rent them the 3-bed unit instead.  Yessiree, that works out even better for us.  I offered the 2-bed to the next person I'd vetted and had wanted to put a deposit down.  She is still interested so, with any luck, I might have both units with signed leases by tomorrow (crossing fingers!).

On Saturday, I picked up a gift from a local casino.  Two bamboo pillows.  I've heard good things about those, so was excited to get them for free.  I like them, but they don't have the cooling or comfort effect that they claim to.  Exaggerations in advertising?  Nooooo.  You don't say.  I also won $20 and had a $10 coupon to use in their take-out deli, which was enough for a free dinner.  Then did a Walmart run.  The main thing I needed was at the pharmacy...which closes two hours early on Saturday, so I missed it.  Ugh.  Now I need to make a special trip today.

Sunday was a relaxation day.  I had half a bottle of champagne left from the weekend before.  Still fairly fizzy because I'd had a stopper on it.  So I had a second Mimosa Sunday this month.

Oh!  For the US peeps, today is a Federal Holiday.  President's Day.  Do any of you have it off?  Or are you having to trudge away in the trenches today with me?

@short+sassy I'm working today, though from home. H is off bc he's a federal employee. We have today as a floating holiday but then our floating holidays basically turned into an additional 2 days of PTO, you don't even have to use them on a holiday anymore

DH is off, but unfortunately, I am not.  :'(

@mrsconn23, that mixed nut butter is delicious!  But why is it so runny?  I thought maybe they added too much oil, but when I checked the ingredients, it's all nuts, no added oil.  So I'm guessing some of the nuts they include are just super oily on their own?  IDK, I like the flavor, but I can't eat it without getting it all over.

No day off for me.  :(  I did take part of the afternoon off after a meeting.  I wish I would have just taken the whole day off now.

And yeah, the nut butter is runny.  It's better in the fridge, but I basically just use it for dipping vs. spreading.

    Happy birthday @MNNEBride!

I'm a county employee, so I'm off today.

Friday night I took the dog to the park, where he headed directly for the mud. Lovely. He had a great time, but needed a bath afterwards. Then our usual Friday meeting.

Saturday's visits were a waste of time. The first assisted living place is very nice but too remote. It's set back in the woods: pretty, but FW got a bad vibe. The second changed their pet policy, so FMIL wouldn't be able to bring her dog.

I rescheduled yesterday's visit for this Friday (I'm taking Friday off). I spent yesterday relaxing and reading; it was awesome.

Today is more of the same: take the dog to the park, read some more, catch up on some phone calls, and go to my Monday night meeting.

I have today off and I desperately need it.  I saw a mouse in our garage and noticed that all of our soil and other bags of plant-related products have been ripped open by them.  I am terrified they are nesting in the piles of soil in the garage.  :(

I'm off as well today (yay for made up holidays like Family Day!!).  DH and I are going to take our niece out for a birthday date and paint some pottery.  I really needed this too.  I spent the rest of the weekend editing an article that I submitted for publication.  It's a first for me, so I wasn't sure of how much work was needed.

Poor Wooz! I can relate to falling off horses, good for her for getting back on! But cracking her helmet- yikes!

    Happy Birthday @MNNEBride !

Family Day statutory holiday today in Canada- yay for long weekends! Saturday we did a walk through of our new house- less than one month until we take possession! Which also means I spent a fair amount of time packing this weekend. Still working on the cleaning the house part- will finish that today. I'm training for some long races- 30K and full marathon, so I ran 24km on Sunday, quite tired after. But I ate the most delicious burger and fries for dinner, then DH and I went to see Lego Batman- DH's choice. The plan was to get together with some friends, but it just never came together- will have to plan that for this weekend.

Now, I'm going to catch up on the last episode of Fixer Upper, then get that cleaning and laundry done!

    Happy birthday @MNNEBride

Im still sick, boo. Not so sick I can't do things, but it's annoying and I'm torn if I should go to the gym or rest one more day.

I was ambushed by girlscouts yesterday and ended up buying three boxes. I just wanted ice from the store. My grandma's bday party went well. I showed up and she was dressed in a purple toga dress and crown, which basically sums up her personality. She looked like a Roman empress, which is exactly what she believes herself to be. Lol.

SO came home last night from his work trip. He was miserable. And he lost his id, ironically on his most sober vegas trip ever. He said he won't go again unless he gets his own room and can bring me. He shared a room with three other guys, and only two queen beds. People were a hot mess. They expected him to act like a taxi service and he was like "that's so funny. No." The only reason he went was because he was in charge of planning the activities. Poor guy. I'm making him get antibiotics today too because I'm pretty sure he has bronchitis.

We're still under the weather here.
My folks to BUffy for the night last night, I'm about to meet them at OT to pick her up.
But we didn't to much.  Girl scout cookie booth on Saturday, which is good for the kiddo, pushes her out of a comfort zone.

I'm working on my thank-you-note for Friday's interview.  crossables crossed

What!?!  I don't usually hear of companies forcing employees to share rooms.  At least I've never worked for one.  But forcing employees to share beds!?!  Even if they are of the same sex, that is some seriously ugly penny pinching.

Sorry to hear he lost his ID!  Bummer.

dear H, GO TO BED. You don't feel well, blah blah blah, stop hogging the couch and the living room TV (where I spend the day with the baby). Go watch your shows in the bedroom or take a nap in there. Why do you feel the need to be in the way in the living room?!?!

@kvruns, yeah.  The other thing I couldn't believe is that some of his coworkers have spouses who also work for the company.  The company SPLIT THEM UP.  So some of the employees of course went to spend the night in their gf's room, even though there was another female coworker in the room.  I told SO that was a walking lawsuit.

Sorry to hear about Wooz @Heffalump. I don't mean to sound like a bossy mom but you may want to have her checked for a concussion. A friend of mine's daughter was thrown from her horse (was wearing a helmet that didn't crack) and she ended up with a really bad concussion. Took her months to recover. Hopefully, Wooz doesn't have one.

    Happy Birthday @MNNEBride.

This weekend was fun. Went to a fundraising party for our local repertory theater. The show was great. Saturday  I had a birthday lunch for a friend - prosecco and lots of food. Sunday was pretty low key. Took the dogs for a walk because it was so warm and beautiful. They were wiped out when we returned. They haven't been on a long walk since the fall.

Today a friend and took the wife of our husbands' co-worker shopping. They are new to the country and had to leave a lot of their furniture in their homeland. In addition, some of their furniture was damaged in the move. So we spent the morning furniture shopping and then having lunch. She's really nice but lonely I think. They have only lived here 3 months. I think we will plan another outing soon.

@levioosa that is so messed up.  My company typically does two per room, and if you want a single you pay for half out of pocket.

I can't imagine expecting any coworker, other than married ones, to share a bed.  That's a big hell to the no for me.

I work for a school board, so we're cheap, and even we sleep 2 to a room, separate beds.  I'd hands down pay for my own room if this was happening.

@Heffalump I'm so sorry Wooz had a rough weekend! Between the chair and being thrown from her horse I hope her head is okay! I took riding as a kid and was thrown a few times - she sounds like an amazingly resilient and strong girl - to get right back on that horse and finish the lesson is really commendable!

@MNNEBride Happy belated birthday! (I took yesterday off so I am just now catching up)
