Places for a fun engagement party, not just a sit down dinner

Hi everyone... does anyone have any suggestions on places on long island  I prefer nassau, where we can have our engagement party... I do want a dinner but also open bar cocktails and plenty of dancing....  if you have the names of places and approx. cost I would really appreciate it

I went to a corporate event at 56th Fighter Group in Farmingdale that was really fun.  The food was good, and they had a nice big bar area plus space for a DJ and dancing.

A friend of mine (years ago) had their engagement party at Dave & Busters. Another friend had a candy bar and popcorn machine and rented a movie theater and watched silent films.

The 56th is wonderful but is closing permenantly this week. What about a VFW or fire dept. hall? You can have a buffet or just apps and cocktails and birng in your own entertainment. It tends to be a bit more casual than a catering hall.

thanks everyone,  I just read that 56 was closing the other day and I was shocked.  I had my sweet 16 at the firehouse,  and although that would be easiest I dont know if I want to have the engagement party there.    It probably would be more fun and this way I can just more money towards the actual wedding.  The places I have been finding were 65-75 a head plus tax and 20% grat.

Mine was 60 a person and we had buffet and open beer and wine and the place had an outdoor patio area... But it's in Suffolk. I think 60pp is average for a nice place. VFW hall probably cheaper.
