I'm fucking dying. There has to be video of that somewhere. I read the interview itself (just....*shakes head*), but somehow I missed the bushes part.

Oh, and Trump is supposed to meet with Russia today. Because that timing doesn't seem odd at all either.

Eta: I cannot wait for the SNL skit that comes from this.

right!? M wasn't familiar with it until I showed him, then I showed him a speech by Spicey and he couldn't believe how similar she was :')
  • WaPo breaking news: "James Comey asked for more money for the FBI's investigation of Russian meddling days before he was fired by President Trump."

I wish I believed in hell, b/c McConnell deserves hella punishment for his life.

I also cannot wait until Melissa McCarthy gets hold of this in SNL b/c it's so absurd anyway, she doesn't even have to act that much.

Also, I hope this kills forever, Forever, FOREVER and ever, ever, ever, the idea that a CEO can be a good president.  Even without the godawful foregone conclusion of collusion with Russian, Trump would still be fucking it all up to hell and back b/c he doesn't understand how government works.  So can we all just admit, finally, that career politicians are the better choice? That running the country IS NOT LIKE RUNNING A BUSINESS? The qualifications are different, the skill set is different, the knowledge set is different, it's all different and it's not learnable by someone who just (loosely) knows how to run a company w/out major immersion study?

Yes. I was talking to SO about this the other day. Are most career politicians out of touch with their base? Of course. But at least they know how shit works for the most part. There's a lot broken with our system, but giving someone power who hasn't the slightest clue about it would obviously be disastrous. I have so many thoughts and feels about this.

And I'm with @southernbelle0915 too. I have no idea how his supporters just blindly follow and don't seem to have a problem with any of this. I've been trying so hard to see how people can write off everything legitimate as fake news (with both politics, and especially with vaccines). It doesn't matter how many studies or analyses I read about the thought processes behind it, I'm still flummoxed and I have no idea how to combat it.

When Trump was running, I would make the analogy of, "In a real world scenario, if I were the HR Director for the U.S.A. and needed to pass along qualified resumes to Management for the POTUS position, Trump's resume would barely get a glance from me.  It definitely wouldn't be passed on"  If I created a fair, unrelated to Party, job description for POTUS, Trump wouldn't even have the basic qualifications.  Like "ability to work with others" and "must demonstrate tact and diplomacy".

Yeah...but I feel like there just has to be a cellphone video or something floating around, somewhere.  Because what journalist didn't see that and think, "this is golden."

I'm still pissed that my states governor, the one who poisoned an entire city and denied it didn't kill this idea.

I'm still waiting for the more mature and thoughtful candidate turned President that they promised to emerge or for the people making those promises to demand better.

This is a shit show in the highest degree.

    Marijuana would be legal then.

  • I honestly don't understand how anyone can still say they have 100% (or even, like, any percent) confident in Trump. I know I'm biased because I've literally never supported him or thought he was anything but a pompous, racist, two-faced, clueless, lying, conniving, xenophobic, illiterate misogynist.....but COME ON!

I just tilt my head and look at supporters like mythical beings. I have so many questions. Are they wearing blinders? Are they just that uninformed? Or do they truly know and fully understand what he's doing and support it?

And another thing... I heard a Republican senator say in an interview that he's sick of hearing about Russia. That it's overblown and we don't need anymore investigation. Well, sir, I have one word for you....

    BENGHAZI.

Oh, where are your "we just want to know the truth" and "well if there's nothing to hide, appoint an independent investigation" torches and pitchforks now? Oh, you put them in the closet the minute a white male Republican took office. Of course you did. Of course you did...

I generally don't get into political discussions because it mends up being a shitshow, but when we visited ILs this summer, i really had to bite my tongue. Between FIL with his Fox News at max volume and MIL with her unsolicited comments about "ZOMG HILLARY IS A LYING LIAR THAT LIES B/C BENGHAZI" I was at my tipping point. I really wanted to ask my MIL to point out Benghazi on a map - or Libya, for that matter (or tell me the country, or hell, what continent Benghazi was located.) I didn't though, because it wasn't worth starting trouble.

Hats are optional (but highly enjoyed)

So I have a theory about this. The Trump admin has been all smoke and mirrors so far. They present lots of shiny objects and distractions that they know progressives will latch onto and flip a shit. Then, while that is happening, they do crazy things.

This is obviously the biggest shiny object they've presented to the American people (firing FBI director and simultaneously meeting with Russia).... I shudder to think what's actually brewing behind the scenes.

I'm just so incredibly concerned about the lack of independent investigator. I have to keep repeating "this is not normal. None of this is normal." I'm also worried that as time goes by, they will be able to cover up their tracks.

WaPo did a really interesting article about this subject, explaining what all the choices are and obstacles to them.  We actually don't have a method for getting a truly "independent investigator" b/c Republicans had to go after Clinton over and over again:  https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/heres-how-an-independent-investigation-into-trump-and-russia-would-happen/2017/05/10/7dc6bb8a-35a2-11e7-b373-418f6849a004_story.html?utm_term=.ca023fad4562
