Bourne Mansion

Hi! I have a question and it would be super amazing if any one of you can help me out!

Would a reception dinner with 200 guests in October be possible for under 40k? 30k for reception is our budget, but 36k is what we will stretch for. I'm not getting married for a number of years because FH and I want to finish our masters, but looking to see what I need to start saving up for because it is seriously my dream venue (I know prices will go up as time goes by, I just want an idea). If anybody has any recent  quotes, it would be greatly appreciated if you can share them with me.
Thanks so much! :)

Re: Bourne Mansion

  • Just give the mansion a call, they are very helpful over there. That is the best advice I would give. Also, book it NOW so you do not run the risk of suffering later on your quote due to the economy and rising prices. I have seen drastic changes over the course of the past 2 years alone.
  • i honestly dont know. dh and i got married almost 7 years ago, in november, on a saturday night and ours was more than that.

are you only looking at bourne for some reason? i've ben to a few weddigns there and they have been hit or miss in many areas.

i would shoot for probably 50k-if you can do it for less great, if not at least you'll be at that #. since you have a very long length of time to plan they may be able to help you out with prices if you book far in advance (farther than normal). why not ask them what they can do?

  • I was quoted around $150pp for a Saturday night wedding at Bourne when I was looking for a venue around this time last year, but I was looking for a date in August.  I'm not sure if their October prices would be different.

<div>The website says that they have seasonal pricing flexibility so I think October may get some sort of discount. </div><div>does that quote you were given include tax and gratituity charges? It sounds kind of low (not a bad thing lol)<div>thanks!</div></div>

i will agree with you that the rooms are beautiful but there are some other gorgeous places-oheka, coindre etc... to me, as a guest of the reception, the food and service are far more important than what the room looks like. on each occasion i found the service to be lacking, and once the food was great, once it was not. and really not. we were in one room that had a huge fireplace at the other end and doors that went to a veranda sort of room and then led outside and we were also in a T shaped room that was really a PITA for those in the top of the T-they couldn't see anything, they had to go all the way to the staircase in the hallway for the bar. just a bad set up.
the one with the bad food was about 6 years ago, the one iwth the great food was about 3 years ago the service was the same at each.
oh also-in the T shaped room-they set up a coat check with removable foldable walls and folding plastic tables in the hallway. just a terrible place for it and it looked awful. i'm not sure if you will be there during coat season, I dont remember your original post, but it was just an eye-sore.
i dont want to make it sound all bad. the bartenders were great, the food at the wedding when it was good was very good. it was the table servers that were bad both times.

  • I actually heard that the prices for 2013 forward have risen significantly due to renovations they recently performed...So I think the numbers are now closer to $200pp, plus site fee which I think is around $4k (not sure if that went up too).
  • A friend of mine got married there 7 years ago with 180 people and the whole wedding cost them almost $100K.  It was beautiful, but pricey!
