north fork wedding reception place on a budget

Anyone know of any good places to have a North Fork wedding that's not too expensive?  I had hoped for a vineyard wedding, but with site fees starting at $5,000 and not including anything other than the place I may have to think of something else. I could use some advice on cheaper options.
Thanks!

well, I don't know what your budget is, but I had wanted the same thing, but ran into the same trouble with the prospect of paying a site fee, and then having to rent everything I'd need to make the wedding I wanted...tables, chairs, linens, etc.  Well, I lucked out and found Vineyard Caterers.  It's in Aquebogue, and is a full service catering hall situated on a vineyard.  It's just beautiful!  And not as expensive as I'd feared it would be! good luck!

I know a few friends who got married at the Vineyard caterers.  They had wanted the vineyard feel without the price tag!  They both had beautiful and very comprehensive & well planned weddings.  If you are looking for less DIYs, then check this place out.  One friend got married right on sight and it was beautiful.  I know that obviously the winter months should be cheaper, especially right now with this economy.

Also, Eastwinds gave us a package for under 10, 000 for 125 people in Feb 2011.  If you are willing to be flexible with the dates, they'll be flexible with the prices!

    Hope this helps!

Not as far east as the North Fork, but on the North Shore in Centerport:

Our wedding had to be cancelled close to the planned date.  The Thatched Cottage, overlooking the Long Island Sound on LI’s North Shore, will allow us to sell out our lost deposit. The Thatched Cottage has agreed to transfer our entire $14,500 deposit to any couple who is planning to book their wedding at the Cottage, or who may already be in contract with them.

Here is how it would work:  At the Cottage premises, they will transfer a total of $14,500 to your contract with them.  At the same time, we are asking for $10,000 from you to be paid by a local certified bank check at the Cottage premises.

What this means is that we are able to recoup $10,000 of our lost deposit (hopefully for another wedding in the future) and you receive $4,500 in free deposit money to use as you please.  By doing this, we avoid losing our total deposit of $14,500 to the Cottage for a wedding that didn’t happen.

The wedding date, menu and all wedding options are strictly up to you.  Our contract is now null and void.  Use the $4,500 as you like – extras at your cocktail hour, add a Viennese table, or simply apply the funds toward your remaining wedding costs.  It’s your wedding and your choices.

If you are still in the planning stages, view The Thatched Cottage’s website for information about the wedding packages they offer and lovely views and pictures of this upscale venue.

This offer could definitely save you money, especially if you are on a budget.  If interested, contact me directly at kvanbell@optonline.net.  Congratulations & Good Luck!
