Hope all is well. My work/social calendar has been busy as ever. My niece is gone. Loved having her, but it's nice to have the house back again. Hiking more than ever.
Yesterday I was to go on an overnight 14er with the members. It was cancelled a few weeks ago for very odd reasons. They rescheduled it for Sept, but most people will have already left for their primary homes (most of our members have multiple homes).
One member was upset and they asked if I could just take her. I said "sure". Then she decided to cancel because she wanted a group, not one-on-one. Fine. Then at 2pm on Sunday I get a call saying she changed her mind. She wants to go. So with less than a days notice I'm hiking the biggest mountain in CO (2nd in the lower 48).
Hike up was good. Weather held out, made it up there in an hour faster than I did last year

. The hiker was a 68.5 year old woman. So inspiring how she is still hiking and rocking the pace too!
About 1/2 down she fell. Face plants on some rocks. Some abrasions, black eye, but otherwise very lucky it wasn't worse. She continues under her own power. Although I had to slower her down a few times because I feared she was going to fall again. I talked her into going to a doctor. Especially since she lives alone. She is okay.
The rest of the week is work, work hike and then a 4 summit hike on Friday. Sounds more impressive than it really is. The trail is only about 7.5 miles (yesterdays was 10). And the elevation gain is less. But hey, I can click off 4 more of the 54 CO 14er summits

Mom is doing better. Out of the hospital, but still on meds. She might have to have surgery after things calm down in her colon.

Here are some pics from last week's hikes. I don't have one form Elbert on my computer yet. Have a good one ladies.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests. Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
