Saint Lucia Honeymoon Help

I wanted to get feedback on 2 resorts on Saint Lucia:
1.) St. James's Club Morgan Bay
2.) Sandals Regency La Toc

Considering one of these for our honeymoon and wanted feedback from anyone that's been to either resort (especially for honeymoon). Thanks!!

Re: Saint Lucia Honeymoon Help

  • We absolutely loved La Toc.  It's the mid-sized Sandals property, which we felt fit us perfectly.  We were able to get to the other resorts for dinner/the beach, etc. but both of us agreed we thought La Toc was the best (for us).

The beach is the "roughest" of the three Sandals.  It's in a cove, which gives La Toc's beach the biggest waves.  We didn't feel it was rough at all, but compared to the other two beaches, it definitely had more waves/current.  Sometimes the waves would churn up sand, but yes, the water is beautiful and clear, and warm.  The Grande has the best beach- long and calm- but it's also the busiest resort.  I recommend going there for a day visit just to experience their beach/pool, which is what we did.

The restaurants were amazing.  La Toc has the most restaurants, compared to the other two.  But you should definitely get to the Halycon resort one night to eat at their restaurant on the pier- it was delicious.

The ride from the airport is a bit long, but La Toc is actually the closest Sandals to the airport, so at least it's the shortest option (about an hour and 20 minutes).

We wavered a lot on butler service, but ultimately decided against it.  We just thought we wouldn't be in the room enough to use it- and we were right.  We literally got up every morning, ran down to the ginormous breakfast buffet, and headed out for the day.  We didn't see the room again until it was time to shower for dinner.  We stayed in the main resort- room 202.  We loved it- we were all the way down the end of the hallway (more private), and we were one of 4 rooms in that building that had an actual balcony.  We loved our spot- we were central to everything- the beach, the pool, several restaurants, shops, etc., yet it was quiet.  The sunset bluffs are ridiculous and beautiful and more private- and we thought about upgrading- but they are definitely a hike away from the main resort.  It's really personal preference.

We did do some excursions- we definitely took advantage of the spa credit.  And we also went out on a boat tour with Son of Man excursions (again, highly recommend).  They take you out to snorkel between the Pitons, then you go to the volcano and do a mud bath in the mineral springs.  You also get to eat an authentic St. Lucian lunch at one of their family member's houses.  Then you go to a waterfall, do a quick stop in town at a store or two, then you're back to the boat with a stop in a cove to jump off the boat for one last dip.  The boat is stocked with drinks- including their deadly rum punch.  It's a fun day.  If you had to La Toc, go down to the beach where the excursion people are (they walk the beach) and ask for Elvis.  We liked Son of Man tours because they cap the excursions at 10 people- compared to some other boats we saw which were PACKED.

    Have fun and good luck!
  • Hi

I got engaged in St. Lucia in May. We stayed right next to Sandals Grande, and I went on the property of all the Sandals resorts during my stay in St. Lucia. =

I would suggest staying with Sandals. The advantage is that you can travel to all three resorts that Sandals operates on the island. You get to see more of the island and the beaches at the other resorts.

St. James is kind of out there with nothing around it. If your plan is to walk around town and do stuff without a tour that will not be possible at St. James.

    Have a wonderful time!
