Labo(u)r Day Edition

Hope all of you with time off are enjoying the day. For those of your working hope it goes quickly. 

We're both off today, enjoying coffee on the porch with the pup and no real plans.

Fuck fuck fuck.  My last day off.  I don't count the 3 days last week as work since there were no kids.  I know I've been complaining a lot about going back, but I'm already stressing about the year and my assignment.  I have 10 different classes to plan for and a Thursday flex day which will be different classes each week (though I've got that figured out mostly).

That said, I've applied on 3 different positions already and I'm quite excited for 1 of them as it's with my old Principal who is amazing.  I really want an interview for that one.  

Workout today, and then I'm going to tour one of the brand new schools opening tomorrow.  Mine was in the first round of new schools that opened 8 years ago, so it'll be interesting to see the differences.  And Yoda starts drop in agility training tonight, so hopefully he'll have fun

Not working but home. I didn't realize how tired I was, lol. DH is on PTO so we are just lounging and napping today.

I'm actually off today.   I was going to do a pre-hike for a member hike, but my knee isn't 100%.  The hike is on a 4x4 road, so I'm just going to drive it instead.  

Other than that I'm just chilling.  Going out to breakfast with DH.  Maybe do some closet purging.

I received my office letter for my winter job.  I'm getting a $4 per hour raise.  YAY!!!

I'm off, medicated.
I'm improving slightly, but I"m using a cane and can't walk much w/o help.
And the meds for my back have gotten me a rebound migraine.

And it's the kiddo's 'family' birthday party.  The Mr. and FIL are in the backyard installing her treehouse windows as a birthday gift right now.  I'm going back to being useless, because I keep hurting myself trying to do basic stuff.  like lift the toilet lid and chop a tomato.

I'm catching up on some quotes this morning and then going to a BBQ this afternoon.

I worked one of the loveliest weddings yesterday.  It was in their backyard with about 40 guests.  The DJ was their iTunes account, their son played guitar for the ceremony, which lasted 5 minutes and all of the food was passed instead of served and the bar was just wine and beer.  Just goes to show, you don't need all the trappings to host a beautiful wedding and reception.

Ugh, some fool on the Today Show is giving etiquette advice and says that travel costs for travel or a DW should not impact your gift.  You should consider your costs and take that out of your vacation budget and still gift as you normally would because "the couple still expects a gift."

Major eye roll.

Seriously?

F'that.      Most people do not want to take a forced vacation for a wedding. They often do it out of obligation.  Especially for immediate family.

We're headed home from our weekend away. It was good to be with family.  I felt a bit guilty for escaping for a bit, but I need to recharge before seeing my students this week.  I had a few good cries, which helped me release.  I was glad, though, to be able to go to Wal Mart and Home Depot to buy supplies that many stores in Houston have run out of to bring back to our church which has been coordinating neighborhood relief efforts. 

Im ready to get back into a "normal" routine.  There's a meme floating around about how nobody in Houston knows what day it is anymore.  So true.

Remember @holyguacamole79 in order to care for others you have to care for yourself. Sounds like a weekend away was exactly what you need. Do you have an anticipated start day for classes yet?

I feel for you!  I hope you have a quick recovery.  I am also very frustrated because I can no longer do the things I have been used to doing.  Migraines suck!

Thanks, @charlotte989875 ... we return tomorrow.   I'm a bit nervous bc I know that some of the students were affected, but I don't know how many.  We've been told to try to get the students back to "normalcy".  I want to balance that with letting them know that I care without sticking my foot in my mouth.

Happy Labo(u)r Day!

 I walked 30 blocks in a parade. I'm sore and probably a little sunburnt, but I'm proud of myself. I know it doesn't sound like much, but I'm fat and not in the best shape.

Nothing planned for the rest of the day, so I'm doing wedding stuff, like figuring out what we still need to buy, what we can borrow, what beverages we want, that sort of thing.
