Thanks, the pic was fun (and that is K's alternate drag persona).  That is a somewhat famous selfie location taken in my hometown.  The lighting is outrageously fantastic and even if you look like poo that day, you look amazing.  And K looked great that day, we were all laughing so hard between glitter beard and all of the rhinestones and then the unicorn horn.  The best part is that there was some sort of cosplay thing going on downtown in addition to the fundraiser, so no one batted an eye at her costume all day; she got lots of compliments instead and asked who she was playing.

It is what it is and thank you for the kind thoughts and words of support.  I was worried about the other attendees and called the organizer.  Nothing else was reported, so that made me breathe a sigh of relief.

I heard from the company that made me an offer, but they did not clarify whether they want me to start this Thursday, just "We still haven't heard back from the background check people; we're trying to get this straightened out."

I have no idea if I'm ever going to get an actual start date. They keep jerking me around with this. I want to just rescind my acceptance of their offer since it looks like they are never going to come through with an actual start date.

Had a productive weekend. Organized some photographs - yes actual printed ones. Filed some Christmas cards/letters for the kids (I'm keeping them until they have space to store stuff). Also got a ton done on FDIL's Christmas stocking. It should be done by Thanksgiving which is when we decorate for Christmas. They have been engaged for almost 2 years. I started it shortly after they became engaged. They didn't set a date (a week from this Saturday) until this past April so I didn't feel especially motivated to finish. Now I feel like I'm under pressure to get it done. I told H to remind me I WILL NOT do stockings for any future grandchildren. My eye sight and hands can't take it. I'm also one of those moms that feels like if I do something for one kid, I need to do it for all. So yes I've bought a stocking kit for DS2's future wife even though he isn't engaged! He does have a pretty serious GF though so who knows!

I'm still working on getting the kitchen sink replaced. Seriously, why is this so damn hard. I have remeasured everything and it seems like it will fit but they want to have a cabinet maker to check it. Of course, he is really busy right now and doesn't know when he can get out to check the specs. UGH!

I am in full brat mode with the customer service department of my health insurance.  As in, why has your all's system been down for the last WEEK and I can't get a flu shot at your "partner" CVS because of it?

It's a high deductible plan.  Really high.  All year long, the only thing they pay for is this flu shot and one wellness visit.  And they can't even do that right.  Beyond pathetic.
