Wedding Woes

It's only wednesday

Im tired. I haven't been sleeping well and other stuff.

Boss replied about the raise "what do you think is fair?"  I'm no good at this. I just want him to say "YES!  We love you and your getting this much!"  Of course one reason I cited for the raise is I'm more available during daytime hours. He sent three requests to work over the phone and I can't do any of them. Whomp whomp

nothing else really. Basketball schedule posted and I know I'm going to mess it up- every week is a day and different location. I'd don't do well with that.

Re: It's only wednesday

  • That is a beautiful sunrise 6. Sorry your boss wasn’t helpful with your raise.

DH and I picked out a place! It is pretty much everything we wanted and (slightly) under budget. Now we get to deal with the cluster that is contracts and paperwork.

My class with the kiddos is tomorrow and I am so excited! It is only going to be 10 kids but I think that is perfect!

    Then full force into Thanksgiving.
  • Beautiful 6! Also negotiating is the worst.

I’m also not sleeping well (probably the work stuff).

More house drama. We accepted the offer last week that was below our minimum. Inspection was Saturday at the buyer wants a bunch of stuff. Some were actually fine with (having HVAC serviced, fixing one of the electrical outlets), but the other stuff is bull and we’re pretty annoyed. There’s some knob+tube wiring (the house is 100+ years old), but it’s been inspected and it’s fine. We’re not replacing that. There is a basement shower that drains perfectly fine, but not to a floor drain, which is what they want. Also hard no. There are support beams in the basement that were inspected when we bought it was May, and we did another inspection this summer after we added two more supports. They want these “looked at” again. Sorry, no. Their inspector even said in the report the house was well built and only needed minor updating and repairs.

Selling a house is the worst.

If my boss asked me that I'd say "I want want Illinois took from my paycheck this summer plus the typical 3% cost of living raise".  But Illinois probably didn't take anything out of your checks this summer, huh?  Good luck! lovely sunrise too.
@charlotte989875, they're being really picky asking for that atop a good sale price!  Would you close the deal and start over if it came to that?

Are there any tech people here?  I have xfinity (comcast) internet service.  Like every internet service, mine is shit.  But like, REAL shit.  The internet goes slower than a sloth. I sometimes have the opportunity to work from home, but legit can't keep up with my internet.  So it's interfering in my work life now.  Yesterday I tried to upload some pictures from my phone/dslr camera and even without the internet my laptop was in sloth mode.  to give you an idea last time I tried to work from home, I had to open up a file, change something, pdf it and email it back to someone.  3 docs. It took 2 hours!

Anyway, last night I went to the library and my computer was fine, speed wise (this is all even without even needing internet!).  So can internet make the computer speed go slow?  What's the dealio?
    edit: words

  • @CharmedPam what kind of internet do you have? If you work from home, you might qualify for business grade internet which is supposed to be guaranteed speeds.
  • @CharmedPam check what the computer is running at {under task manager} if it's at anything over 90% then see what's running in the background that shouldn't be. {sometimes it's a virus, or spyware but could be a program}
  • @6fsn Beautiful sunrise! I feel you when bosses ask "why do you deserve this?" kinda questions. Partly I wanna say "because I'm fucking awesome" but that's not appropriate answer lmfao

@charlotte989875 is there a way to tell them that some of the things are b.s? When we had our inspection, there was somethings that we didn't feel qualified to do - and should be there - but other things it was like "enh, it's fine. we'll do it ourselves"
  • That sunrise is something else! <3

@charlotte989875 - they're just trying to negotiate. The more issues they present, the more likely you are to fix some or all of them or lower the price (probably what they want). It's a business negotiation - "ask for the moon and land among the stars" (astronomically incorrect, but you know the saying) and all that. Maybe "the stars" for them is the outlet and the HVAC. But the moon ain't happening. Good luck!

  • I didn't do much last night lmfao!

Basically I was super lazy and had cereal for dinner. I should have done laundry, I'm running low on socks :\

Originally we were gonna go to mall tomorrow, but just discovered that Sephora's deal ends today and I wanna get a couple things .... so we're going tonight.
I was gonna check the baubles before we went but I'll just check them and buy next groceries. Might get our tree tonight though. Idk yet. ikea also has baubles I wanna check out .... I really like their winter things.

Debating on getting winter/xmas dishes. They have snowflakes on them, which is my jam for holidays {which I also don't do very well} I wanna sort through our dishes anyways.

There are ways for us to be like "this ish isn't happening" and we do know it's negotiation tactics, but after the (as per our agent) insulting initial offer and the really good sale price, they're asking for the moon+ the solar system. Hopefully the stars is really just the HVAC and the outlet.

We do have our inspection reports and our agent is going through our two and there's to reconcile some of the discrepancies to point out what they're asking for isn't even in their inspection report, so hopefully that will help.

If push came to shove we would walk if they insisted on everything. We could offer the HVAC+outlet, and add a home warranty, but that's it. Anything else we're taking too big of a loss.

  • @charlotte989875 good thing your realtor is looking into it. If it's not in the inspection, idk why they're asking for it plus going under. Idk if it's an option, but could you negotiate that they need to hit minimum in order for these things to be done?

Our agent is really good, we like and trust her. She actually just emailed to say she's coming up with something she thinks will work. So all the good vibes she's right!

    Do you do cool tone or warm? {also you should expand to Tarte - like UD as well}

Warm tones. But pretty minimal for eye makeup usually.

This palette has lots of options {sunset palette} It's not cheap but the quality is friggen amazing! I swatched some recently at Sephora and died over the quality!
  • Please please please please please please PLEASE stay away from my house puke bug.  Just look and walk on by.

I hate the puke bug.   And when I find out that a second kid in the daycare has it, that kid is the director's younger son and the older son is one of my son's good friends, I start to be the panic-stricken mom.

We have a party this weekend planned for 50 people.   Puke, stay the FUCK AWAY.

Am I the only mom who then rationalizes and prays that if it has to happen that it happen after a certain point.   Like, "Hey God!   I know I probably ask for too many favors here but if we're going to get hit with the pukes, could you please make it AFTER our annual shindig?   Pretty please? "

  • @banana468 Oh no!! Healthy vibes for your house!
  • @missjeanlouise, thanks! doesn't hurt to call and ask. Didn't know about that. @misskittydanger, it could be a virus, but I rarely use the computer to be honest.  I really want a mac book but I rarely use the laptop I have. It's mostly a picture holder! LOL
@banana468, not a mom but I definitely say "I CANNOT be sick for _______. After that, sure. But not for it" (which is usually vacations).

Has anyone tried Karity? Apparently the product is really good too - and a decent price.

  • @charmedPam- not a techy, but work for them.  If your computer is running slow without the internet it's a computer problem, not the internet.  Like pp said check your usage.  When I was having troubles it was because the processer just wasn't good enough for what I was trying to do.  Check to see if anything is running in the background.  Only leave open the programs you absolutely need.  I would use the internet for email so I didn't even have to use Outlook.

For internet issues- have them come out and check your connections.  I had a bunch of OLD ones outside that were corroded.  If you are using a router, try going directly from the modem to the computer.  This will tell you if the router is weak.  If you haven't replaced those in awhile it might be worth the upgrade.  All of the fast speed coming in won't do anything if you have issues with a modem/router.

When I start to get bogged down I go back through my connections.  9 times out of 10 there's a loose one.

oh, I should add that my work computer (purchased within the last year) is also slow at my house too! so both personal laptop and computer. I haven't tried my work computer yet elsewhere but both my laptop worked great at the library and at work this morning when I brought it in!  maybe there's a black hole at my house?

I will check my usage though, just in case - but it's fine here at work!  I know someone in I.T.  and they may be coming over this weekend, I can hopefully pull him aside and ask.  He says it may be two routers (we have a regular and extended) that are fighting each other (not his words, but it's what I took out from the convo).

@6fsn that's beautiful!  Good look with the negotiation.  When you decide what number you want, round up and present!

@charlotte989875 That's awful, hopefully they're just being nit picky to see what they can get, but I'm with you.  Don't low ball me and then scrutinize my house!

@banana468 I do the same with the timeframe, like if I've been exposed for 5 days and feel okay, I can take some airborne and be safe.  Fingers Crossed!

It's my Friday!!  I'm so excited.  I have a walk thru at noon for an event Monday (we have the red eye, so I'll sleep from 7am-1ish and come in around 3).  Until then, I'm trying to find a transportation service to pick us up from the airport tomorrow am.

We had an interesting week, to say the least.  Hubs is being recruited pretty hard core to run for the State House.  It's something he's always wanted to pursue, after he retires.  He didn't expect the opportunity to present itself at 36.  He's talking it over with friends and family on both sides of the aisle and thinking on it.  I support him either way, honestly.  But when he's not listening, I'm torn being excited and proud and nervous about how this change could impact our lives.  Either way, I'm glad this came up right before I leave town.  As an introvert, he will be able to explore this best without me around.

ETA - There was no mouse after all that.  I'm just a paranoid freak apparently LOL.

  • @banana468 - you aren't the only one. When I see the note on the daycare door that's like "hand foot mouth/croup/RSV/pink eye is going around, look for these symptoms" one of the first things I think of is, "ugh, this is royally messing with my plans..." LOL!

And then part of me is saying, "Well, puke totally screwed up DH's birthday last year and one of our pre-Christmas plans two years ago.   What are the odds it'll happen again?"   And then I feel like there's a smirking deity about to tell me how good the odds are.

IT'S MY FRIDAY FOR 11 DAYS!!!!!  Whoot!  I do have a small list of things to do before I leave and I'm procrastinating a bit longer.

Local cinema is showing Moulin Rouge tonight and I think that sounds like a great kickoff for my staycation.

So, I am still finding out things about what went down with the ex-BFF/ex-DH new wife, nearly 2 years later.  Another person has come to me, apologizing for ever trusting her (for unrelated reasons) and told me what she was saying about me during that specific time.  And I'm just floored in a bewildered way.  It's all just so ODD.  I'm very glad I cut her out and off when I did, she is an incredibly toxic person and an extraordinarily good liar.  I'm also glad I didn't get a stiletto to the eyeball ala Single White Female.

I might drunk Knot while on staycation.
@ VarunaTT Funny how things come out of the woodwork, huh? Glad you got out of that!!  Have a blast on your staycation and:

  • @6fsn congrats on the raise!

@VarunaTT so glad you're on vacation now! And yes please to drunk knotting - sounds like it could be highly entertaining for all of us lol ;)

Last night I really wasn't feeling well (even more so than during the day). My headache was so much more intense, was making me feel drunk and wobbly, and I was having vision issues. Since I had similar symptoms when I was pregnant with Babypants - and ultimately that's what landed me in the hospital with an earlier-than-planned induction, I took my BP last night. It was high. And this morning was even higher - 173/116. I know. I need to take care of myself. So I am going to the doctor this afternoon.
