Table and Chairs

Any ideas for renting (or otherwise obstaining) table and chairs for a small wedding? At most we'll have 60 (including wedding party and children). Our local rental would be $70 for chairs alone... which is more than the budget for both of our wedding attire outfits combined...

Where are you having the wedding? Will the reception be in the same place? Are there any VFW halls near you or other community centers that you might be able to rent from?

If you cannot afford $1.15 for each guest to sit down, you may want to rethink the size of your guest list. How are you planning to otherwise host these people  (food and drink)? Is anyone traveling? 

I would ask around to friends and see if you can gather some folding chairs and tables - then just pay to rent the remaining chairs and tables you need. It's absolutely bare minimum to have a place for guests to sit down and somewhere for them to set their food. Bare minimum. I would take up dog walking or a couple babysitting jobs before you skimp on this.

That actually sounds like a really good price! Ditto southernbelle, if you can't afford just over a dollar for everyone to sit down, how are you affording to host them properly?

My parents always rent chairs from the local bowling alley when they need more, but they know the owner so it's free. You could check there, banquet halls, VFW, Columbus Club, etc. Also keep in mind you'll need a vehicle that can transport them!

You may borrow the chairs from  friends who runs the restaurant or someplace like that.

Take on a second job for some part-time hours or rework your size of event.  $70 is INSANELY reasonable for that many tables and chairs.  Otherwise, rethink your choice in location and move to the local park/shelter house or community center/town hall that will have this included.  Some hotels even offer a meeting room for that size of event on a non-peak day for near that budget (what is the value of your time to pick up the rentals and return them)...
