Dam Hoi Vietnamese Tea Ceremony Engagement Party question

Hello,

First time poster new member, me and my fiance (bride) just recently got engaged and now are in the planning stages for the wedding. My mom told her that they are only going to bring 6 gifts from the groom side. We were under the impression that it would be 8 gifts. Is it typical to only bring 6 gifts instead of the normal 8? We feel like it’s a rude gesture to her family. We did told my mom that we want to keep it small, is that the reason why for only 6 gifts?

    From what I read online and what the adults in my life told me, it depends on how many gifts the bride's family is asking for. The number of the gifts should be agreed upon by both families.
