Since it's confusing....Terrible Tuesday here

We all know I hate Tuesdays.

Saw Addams Family last night.  Save your coin.  The animation is beautiful and there are definitely some great moments, but it's not theatre ticket cost worthy.  However, Regal is giving away a free ticket with any ticket purchase right now, so I have 2 free tickets to burn this week.  K is coming for free, I'm the big spender date!!

I have to make myself do a grind at work that I one million percent do not want to do.  So, I forsee lots of procrastination posting.

Anyone else?

Good to know about the reboot.  Addams Family Values is the most perfect of the Addams Family movies.  I will watch it any time it's on and I always quote the Thanksgiving song ("Eat us! Hey, it's Thanksgiving Day! Eat us because we're good and dead!") on Thanksgiving.  :)

My mom is likely having surgery tomorrow.  Waiting for official confirmation from her surgeon (well dad's text telling us it's official).  I've had to swap around my days of like, 4 times, for this week.  I can't keep up with my own schedule any more.  Since I have DefConn, I probably won't be there for the whole surgery.  We'll show up after it's underway.  We won't know if it's a scar tissue problem or more cancer until they do the surgery.

And then I turn around and have my big follow up appt Thursday with my ob regarding the location of my IUD and whether my right boob needs further inspection.

They still haven't fixed the work issue that's giving me fits.  Glad I'm off the next 2 days.  I have a half day scheduled Friday, but I'm going to be extremely tempted to call in the other half.

    Blerg, blerg, blerg.

All of the hugs @mrsconn23. I’m sending you and your mom good vibes.

I saw your other post and congratulations,@ei34

I spent literally all day yesterday cleaning but the house is finally back in order. I feel a lot better now that it’s organized and clean. FI still has his work cut out for him outside but we did a lot of major cleaning on Sunday and the rest of it we’d like to keep up until Halloween. I took zzquil last night and knocked out. I’m not sure if I have a zzquil hangover this morning or if it’s residual exhaustion from the weekend. We have so. much. pizza left over. My diet is out the window this week while we eat pizza for every meal. It might have been 15 year old me’s dream but tbh it’s getting a little tedious. At least I don’t have to go food shopping until I meal prep for work tomorrow.

@VarunaTT, I'm already deep in procrastination zone, lol.  Really need to shake myself out of it after lunch!

@mrsconn23, best wishes for your mom!  And you also with your OB-GYN appt.

I've had some developments since yesterday.  One of them really good, one of them "maybe, but probably???" good, lol.

A certified letter was waiting for me when I got home yesterday.  It's been my experience that certified mail is rarely anything positive.  But this one was!  It was the results of my property tax appeal for the two duplexes I'd purchased in June.  They actually put the assessment value for each at almost what I'd asked for.

I was pretty sure they were going to lower it some, but I was floored they'd come all the way down to what I wanted.  Which, FTR, what I'd asked for was what I had literally just paid for the properties a few months ago.  However, the assessor's office doesn't usually give much credence to purchase price.  I'm so glad this time was different.  For the two combined, my property taxes dropped $1200/year!

    ----------------------------------------

My MIA delinquent tenant finally called and left me a voice message.  Unfortunately, I can't tell when she called.  I have a new cell phone and it doesn't seem to keep a very good record of "call history".  She said something about paying the rent tomorrow (which I'm assuming means today).  But then qualified she'd pay the rest next week?  So, I guess she's only making a partial payment?  However, there were no details as to amounts.

Then she complained (again) about the tenants in the other unit and asked me to give her a call back.  Lady, you really need to be a lot more concerned about your OWN business right now, ffs!  At any rate, I called her back around 9AM, but it went straight to voicemail.  Haven't heard back yet.  All I can say is...whatever she is paying today...if such a payment even materializes...better be at least the majority of her rent or we'll still need to file for an eviction on Fri.

hugs @mrsconn23 that's a lot going on. I hope surgery and your visits go ok.

I've been nonstop busy at work lately. Had to do a Medicare presentation at a client yesterday and then 2 at other clients today. Still need to add in my normal work and I leave tomorrow after work to go to a seminar in Cincy. I'm staying the night - in a hotel by myself!! - so first night ever away from B. My ILs will be in town starting tomorrow so it will be DH and them with B for that night. It will be the first night ever since he was born that I don't have a monitor next to my head

@levioosa, early in my mystery shopping (MS) career, there was a national fast food chain that one of the MS companies I had signed up for had a contract with.  I got beau-coup assignments and was making a ton of extra p/t cash.  Plus, free food!

Never, in my whole childhood, could I have ever envisioned a day when  I would be sick of French Fries.  But I got so sick of French Fries, lol.  I got to a point where I'd eat a few for quality control purposes of the assignment and then throw the rest away.  You could almost hear the faint cry of my 5-year-old self mourning the loss of perfectly good fries, lol.

my fingers will be crossed for you and your mom @mrsconn23.  What a week!
@VarunaTT, I agree with Addams Family.  Cute but not great
@levioosa you = me.  I ordered pizza on Saturday and it’s all I’ve been eating.  Sure I could freeze it but I haven’t been as it’s providing me meals

I told H we may have to cancel our cruise in Feb.  I'm swimming in debt.  we will still do something that week, just not sure what.  Maybe hit a west coast or Southern state? Has anyone gone to such a state and was surprised how cheap it was for hotels, food, drinks, etc!

Utah. I mean, granted I didn't have to pay for the hotel and the flight was more expensive than I expected, but the food and drinks were cheap.

We're in Atlanta, so travel around this region quite a bit. I find it reasonable compared to the rest of the country, but not exactly cheap unless you're someplace more remote. If you want remote, the smokey mountains are awesome. I also like coastal Carolina and Charleston. Savannah used to be cool, but I don't love it as much as I used to. Oh, and when I go back home to Louisville, the drinks are cheapAF, but not really southern.

Welp, mom had some improvement this morning and surgery for tomorrow is off the table.  That's great news.  But I have questions about things going forward.  I'm going to call dad after work to figure out what exactly is going on.  Because my concern is that my mom is going to be in a situation where any flare ups of the symptoms that sent her to the ER will send her again...and again.  And in the last TWO WEEKS she's been told that she had to have this surgery twice (if you recall, she was called at work when she felt perfectly fine and told to get to the ER now, now, now!).  So while I was never pro-surgery, I'm just trying to understand it all.

MrsConn - Good thoughts and prayers for you and your mom this week!

Kvruns - So cute!  And enjoy your room alone!

Last night was fun.  DD had a nap, so the evening didn't go to shit, like last week!  We got home and I just made a quick dinner of grilled cheese and onion rings.  It was the first time DD had onion rings and she liked them!  Immediately after she finished eating, I brought the pumpkin inside to carve it.  She was giggling and so happy the whole time!  She kept wanting to look in the pumpkin as I scraped it, she even showed her baby doll!  We just did a simple jack o lantern face, but she was in love!

I got out to Kohls at lunch to make an Amazon return.  I was then printed out coupons as my return receipt, so of course, I had to buy stuff!  Got DD some more PJs and pants.  I was able to keep it at $40, so not too bad for Carter's!

Tomorrow is Hamilton in Philly and I cannot believe its finally here!  It was over a year ago that the theater announced it was going to be the Philly host of the show.  My friend was the only one picked for the lottery ticket, but got us great Mezzanine Row 1 seats!

@kvruns, with the cutest baby pics!  And @OliveOilsMom, with the cutest toddler story!

@CharmedPam, obviously I'm biased, but NOLA can be super cheap.  Even the flights from Chicago to here can be found under $150 r/t.  I might even be able to hook you all up with a free hotel stay through Harrahs, but wouldn't know my offers until Dec. (maybe Jan.).

It also depends on your Feb. dates.  Mardi Gras is Feb. 25th next year and hotel difficulty/spendiness would start at least by the Thurs. before, if not sooner.  Or you all could try "Mardi-Gras lite".  The Mardi Gras parade season starts the weekend of the 14th.  Some of the Mardi-Gras feel, but without the higher prices and with less crowd.  Relatively speaking.  As in, Bourbon St. is packed at night.  But not "sardine level" yet, lol.

I was thinking NOLA! And even cheaper if my parents can get us rooms at Harrah’s.  See, we have southwest credit and hotels com g/c’s.  We just cant come up with the rest of the cruise money even though it’s a helleva deal.
feb 15th! i don’t think I want to do mardi gras....

@mrsconn23 sending good thoughts for you mom.

I've been in meetings all day, still trying to catch up on emails. Actually managed to go the gym last night. I only did 30 mins on the elliptical, nothing crazy. But man, I'm covered in bruises..lol.

Rain again for the commute home tonight. UGH.

In years past, Harrahs hotel offers were good through the Thurs. before MG.  And then the Fri.-MG were blackout dates.

Assuming your all's vacation is a week long, you all could head out to Biloxi or elsewhere for the last couple days to avoid the main MG crunch starting up.  Biloxi has Harrahs also.  I was initially going to say, "Yeah!  Hang out on the beach!"  But then I remembered it will be Feb., lol.  MS may not be "Chicago" cold in Feb., but it's still pretty chilly!

Or, especially if you have hotels.com g/'cs, could go to a different part of the city for the last couple days.  It's not all craziness, lol.  The French Quarter is the most claustrophobic.  But there are other areas of town with cool stuff to do and see and won't have you right in the "midst" of it all.

I swear I'm not trying to hard sell NOLA, lol.  But if it's on the short list, those are other thoughts.

Not much today. We had friends who moved several years ago over for lunch. They are in town for a week or so and trying to catch up with everyone. My hip was feeling better until H and I went to dance lessons. Oh well!

I hear ya!  I go to Biloxi occasionally.  But usually only when I have extra good casino offers or we're visiting friends who live there.

I've heard such good things about Savannah and have always wanted to go.  But I wouldn't think it is that cheap of a city to go to.

One of these days, I need to do a GA trip and hit Atlanta and Savannah.  I've been to Atlanta twice, but it's been over a decade.  I don't think my H has ever been there.  Neither of us have been to Savannah.

Oh!  What about Charleston?  Probably not so cheap either.  But it's a great city to visit.

When I went there, it wasn't even planned.  My friend and I were on a month-long road trip that started in Chicago (he lived in Champagne-Urbana).  We had definite stops in Raleigh and Atlanta.  We started approaching Charleston around mid-evening and, since it was a good-sized city, we figured that was the best place to stop for the night.

The hotel we picked...I wish I could remember the name, it was one of the national chains...was moderately priced.  But we had no idea until the next morning of what a primo spot it was, lol.  We opened the windows and it was such a gorgeous view!  We were almost shoreline at the mouth of where the Atlantic ocean comes into one of the main waterways.  We had the time and decided we'd spend the day checking out Charleston.  Definitely did not regret that!  We both commented that, if we'd known how much we would enjoy that city, we wished we'd made it part of our itinerary and have spent 2 days there.

Biloxi is an area I love to go, but then I've got family friends there and places we like to stop so that makes a difference!  Harrah's along with the others offer good deals the earlier you book is what I've found and some of them for gulf-side rooms booking early were such that it was affordable.  Obviously, I'd go to the Beau if I had the chance, unfortunately, it's never worked out.  I've always been on the last minute arriving super late through there so haven't been able to book early enough so ended up elsewhere.
