First Look, how to convince?

Interested to hear how others have convinced their partners to do a first look.  SO is not sold.  I'm trying to find any references to the pro's and cons of a first look vs traditional.  My photographer doesn't have a preference one way or another, so she is no help.  I found some interesting info on this new england photography site.

Does anybody else have good examples of the pro's & cons?

Whatever the pros and cons may be for photographing a "first look", in the end, it boils down to why he doesn't want to do it and why you do. I would recommend you to talk to your SO and see why their against it vs the fact that you are for it.
