Wedding Woes

Love is Blind chat **may include spoilers

I'm late to popular shows but I watched Love is Blind this weekend - anyone else? Want to chat about it?

Re: Love is Blind chat **may include spoilers

  • YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!  I binged it all weekend too and I cannot wait for the reunion.

First of all, why the fuck were the blocks of wood that we call the Lachey's even there?  I'm not even sure if the two of them are aware they're married, much less fucking, so them being so try hard as 'hosts' was cringey and annoying.

Secondly, they truly found amazing people for this trainwreck experiment.  Maybe they have a new crop of couples that filmed last year, but now this is out there any subsequent seasons will be different because people will understand now what this show is about.  It may make for more drama, but it won't be the delightful mess this 1st season has been.

My most favorite part of the beginning was watching the dudes SMASH the heels of their hands in their eyes or look like they were trying to pluck their eyelashes to produce a tear, when looking up at the ceiling didn't conjure anything.  And it hilariously never works.

I read there were actually 8 engaged couples.  So they cut 2 of the couples from going to Mexico.  The editing of the show was extremely weird and seemingly stilted.  The attempts to build suspense or drama was tepid at best.  But again the people they found to do this were pretty great as reality show people, so the show was watchable despite some of the editing choices.

Of the couples that went 'home' and lived together, there was a 60/40 split of break-ups vs. marriages.  And the couples that did get married (at the end of 2018, so more than a year now) have not filed for divorce.  They have a better success rate than the Bachelor, I imagine.  The same company that produced this show did Married at First Sight, but I know nothing about that show because I've never watch it.

  • It was weird how they had them as hosts but then they were barely on it. Usually hosts are in it a ton.

I did lots of spoiler/where are they now reading too because I kept wanting to know about the people who didn't get engaged. I also thought it was interesting how they had 2 couples that weren't included since they had too many. Guess they decided to film the ones that would have the most drama potential
  • I really liked Cameron and Lauren and I'm glad they got married - on the show and in real life.

I also liked Kelly and Kenny so that one made me a little sad. He was so composed afterward addressing the crowd I thought that was cool.

Also found it interesting how often the woman was older than the guy and by 5+ years. I feel like you don't see that too often or they are closer in age. Of course in those cases the guys at 27-28 seemed very mature compared to some others so that probably helped.

I think Kelly and Kenny got the 'good on paper' edit.  I knew as soon as she was shying away from having sex with him and talking about how he was physically not a guy she went for that it wasn't going to work out.  He came off as a guy who grew up on the nerdy side and lucked into his hotness. His composure after being dumped was admirable.  He lost it a little in the 'grooms room' afterward.  They definitely were made to look like the 'perfect' couple, but it was actually a lack of passion from her why they didn't have any conflict.

Cameron and Lauren were also low conflict, but they definitely had more drama because race and her dad's approval was in play for her/them.  I thought her dad was very cute at the end and I think his reaction and approval was what sealed the deal.  Cameron is so very chill and I think that helped Lauren since she's definitely more high-strung and seems to want to keep busy.
  • I didn't like how Lauren kept saying "we will see if I say yes" to him and everyone even the night before. I figured it might have been production-encouraged, or at least that's what I hoped, but that would be unsettling.

  • Yeah, I think the waffling was production probably asking over and over if they were sure or what they were planning to do.

So I only saw 2 eps, it’s allll over FB too, so I was intrigued. And I also picked up on the big age gaps.  It’s very interesting to me since most May/Dec are older men and younger woman.

Eta: ALL these contestants are good looking people.  NO ONE was ever going to walk away disappointed in their match.  Can we get some average Joe/Janes?

i didn’t like the girl, and I can’t remember her name, who went on and on and on about how cute she was but also how smart.  Like she just couldn't get how men were so surprised that she’s pretty AND can hold a conversation.

Sit your ass down, homegirl.  You’re not a unicorn.

  • Ok two more eps down. What was with Gianna FLiPPING out on Damian? (She’s with Damian right? Lol).  She was reaching for a story line or argument for sure.  I mean who doesn’t say “man this vacation is nice.  A good break from reality”.

“What do you MEAN BREAK FROM REALITY? What is there to break from?  Talk to me!  I have to get to know you better and what better way than turning this common phrase upside down and inside out?”

  • I started watching this weekend and I'm obsessed. I'm trying not to read any spoilers and it's super hard. I started episode 6 last night and feel asleep.

It's painful to watch Jessica and Mark. And Jessica is very clearly jealous of Barnett and Amber.

I also thought it was weird that GG went after Damian like that. People have drama in their lives - that's not unusual?
  • It’s definitely a show that’s easy to binge.

i love that Giannina (I think I finally got her name down and I actually love it) and Damian got back together because I do think somethings there.  I also was SO in love with her wedding dress.  It was almost the same one as I almost bought but didn’t (the dress that got away).

I hated Amber during her interviews but liked her when they were filming her and Burnett together candidly.  I rolled my eyes at “I’m marrying my best friend!” After knowing him for 30 days.  Buuuut she was also drunk.  As was Jessica.  Really odd kiss that they had.  I had to rewind.  Did that just happen?!?

weddings:  i called all the I do’s and I don’t (Kelly and Kenny for sure were an I don’t.  We really didn’t see much of them) but the GG and Damian one did throw me off. I thought they were crazy enough to go through it, which is probably why I love that they went back and tried a relationship not under time constraints.

  • I liked GG wedding dress but that was all I liked about her. Just not my personality type at all and Damian didn't seem so crazy so he must have a heart of gold to be able to handle her.

The Carlton/Diamond thing at the reunion was just weird. Especially when he was trying to act like he wanted to get back together. No way in hell I'd be ok with that! i'm glad she didnt' appear to want it either
