I said I’d postpone due to covid, but we’re going to elope.. now what?

I was supposed to be getting married on May 9th, welp— that’s not happening as originally planned, obviously. So we contacted vendors and everyone and pushed it to August with official postponement announcements... the only thing being— we decided yesterday that we don’t want to lose our date and now we’re eloping in May 9th and then have August be a “wedding celebration”.... how do I announce this to people having already announced that we’d be postponing the wedding itself?

Send out a wedding announcement and invitation to the party after you're married. "Jack and Jill were married in a private ceremony on May 9. You are cordially invited a celebration of the recent nuptials on blah blah blah."

Make the announcement fun and cute. Tell your guests you didn't want to wait, so you eloped and now they are welcome to celebrate with you in August. The main thing is to make it clear that they aren't on the B list.
