I live out east (Wading River) and there are many vineyards you might want to check out. Our Favorite is Martha Clara. wine is great there. and they have a huge tent to sit under and large open field with farm animals and also horse and carriage rides. also try duck walk and Palmer. also 2 more we love. Some places to stay in riverhead are nice if u dont want to stay out in no mans land.

bedell and vineyard 48 are my faves. here are some websites to help:

i probably woulnd't stay in riverhead. there are closer towns with a lot more style to them. rhead isn't the greatest of areas either-not much there. stay in a town near the vineyards.

^^ downtown riverhead is dead...yes. this is true...but rt. 58 has a few hotels, is a busy place with a lot of shopping there. Holiday inn express has good rates, is a new hotel, and is right next to the shopping outlets. not all of riverhead is crap.

i know :) i didn't say it was but it's not that close to the wineries and there really isn't too much there as far as cute little north shore town uniqueness-I guess that's what I shouldn've written-sorry if i was misleading-didn't mean to be. she did say for wine tasting b-ette party-so that's why i suggested the other towns closer to the wineries.

if you are looking for a nice place to stay, you should check out vrbo.com. I have used them often and find they are very accuate with their pictures. You just look up the area that you want to stay and choose a house or condo. I found it nicer to do that with friends then to get individual hotel rooms. If you split the cost it works out better per person too! www.vrbo.com (vrbo= vacation renal by owner)
