Oh, the company did a great job, no doubt.  Their Twitter account was hysterical about it.  This is why it is a irrational fear, then This is Us was like, "Hey, let's find Varuna's irrational fear and jump up and down on it."  Like all the scenes in horror movies where someone DOES get eaten by a garbage disposal (why I won't watch Final Destination).  I haven't seen anyone lose a limb to a washing machine yet, but I'm sure it's out there somewhere, lurking, for an unsuspecting Varuna.

    ;)

We all have "irrational" fears that can be brought up by one thing or another.
One of mine? I saw the movie "Urban Legends" and the killer was hiding in the bathtub behind the curtain.

2 years after that, I would not walk into the bathroom if the curtain was closed.
    To this day, I have clear curtains {maybe not fully clear but enough that I can see and I still don't keep them closed}
  • Feel better @kerbohl.
Sorry you had to do that @charlotte989875. I hope Charlotte the cat is better.
    Great news @STARMOON44!

I just wish this week were over with. Stressed out and tired.

No limbs lost and it was a dryer, lol.  But, when my dad was 11 and his sister was 7ish, they put their toddler brother in the dryer and started it.  Only for a few seconds because he started screaming immediately, so they let him out.

Speaking of horror movies, when I was a kid, my dad and I would often watch that Elvira show together.  The feature presentation of this particular Saturday's Elvira show was "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes."  I was about 7-8 and my sister (L) was about 4.  She wanted to stay and watch the movie with us.  My mom and dad had a minor disagreement because my mom was worried she would get scared and my dad kept pooh-poohing it with, "No, she's fine!  She's not scared at all."

To be fair, she didn't seem scared while watching the movie.  Though  it was hilarious that she kept saying, "Why are the 'matos killing the people, Daddy?"

My dad thought he'd been proven right that L was fine to watch the move.  Until the next time we had tomatoes as part of our meal.  My sister started completely freaking out and was terrified.  My mom had a full "I told you so" moment.  It was months before my sister was willing to be in the presence of a tomato again, lol.

Mine was when my parents let me watch, at faaaaaaar too young an age, the original IT.  I could not open under a sink without standing to the side, I still get a little hinky when walking over a sewer grate, and I freaking loathe clowns (that one wasn't helped by the whole "invisible dog" trick that for some reason really freaked me out as a kid).  I did not make it through the AHS that had the killer clowns in the grocery store, my entire body was just screaming, NOPE, NOPE, NOPE.
  • I don't want to see IT now!
  • LOL is my earlier post I said iPods and I meant AirPods.

I have not seen the new one, well...b/c of the 1st one.

But if you like scary movies, I'm sure it's wonderful.

    Same.

Both actors were amazing at IT but nope for me.

My dog has an obsession with sewers, and every time we go near one, I tell her that I'll let her check for clowns.

My irrational fear is laundry rooms - I think when I was younger my cat, who loved the laundry room, must have jumped out at me one time and now I'm always waiting for something to jump out when I pass the laundry room.

  • @missJeanLouise I wish I had your talent - that flamingo is fantastic!

So does mine!  But maybe not in the same way.  She avoids them.  Like the plague.  If she's not paying as much attention to where she is walking and is about to step on one, she will stop suddenly and immediately.  Almost rear back.  And then carefully and a little more slowly walk around it.

To be fair, she's a little girl who is only about 22 lbs.  And her whole paw could fall through a larger grate though, as far as we know, that has never happened.  But she avoids all grates, no matter what size they are.

Be honest, you let her watch IT when she was a puppy, didn't you?
