Choosing material for bridesmaid dresses

Looking for advice from people who know about fabrics and how they photograph! I have a large tulle ball gown... Would satin bridesmaid dresses look good? Or should I do something more like chiffon? (My wedding is in October in Chicago, so it won't be hot.)  TIA!!!

I would start to google tulle ball gown and bridesmaids.

I think any number of fabric combinations can work well.  I'd actually look far more at what fabrics are flattering on your bridesmaids.   Satin is beautiful but the nicest is more expensive and the cut can also either accentuate the negative or positive.   Depending on the thickness and lining it can also leave less room for support garments.

FWIW, what I thought I wanted and what looked great on my bridesmaids were not the same thing.  In the end, what photographs well are people who look great and feel great in what they're wearing.   Be flexible and I bet you'll find a lot of options.
  • FWIW - Satin can be a very finicky fabric both to photograph and to wear as it's not one to release wrinkles very well so someone could have a dress completely pressed out, put it on for the five minute drive from where they got ready to the ceremony site and it be wrinkled in all the wrong places.

As @banana468 mentioned, it's about what looks and feels best on your BM.  Also consider their budgets (ask them privately in conversation when other BM are not around what they're willing to spend total after alterations and work with the lowest price point and do not judge... Please be kind and do not dictate things like shoes for more than a color that's commercially available!  What shoe looks good on one person's foot is a mortal enemy fit problem to another's foot!)
