Update:  My closing for my two duplexes refinance is now officially scheduled for Monday at 3:30!  I'll still feel a lot better when it is done-done.  But now it's almost a done deal (phew).

I’m so ready for my time off. My COVID-19 positivity rate is above 50% for the tests we did yesterday. My old coworkers are out of ratio in the ICU and nurses are being forced to continue working with COVID. Our regional ICU capacity is at 0%. And people keep scheduling tests so they can “make sure they are safe and clear before the holiday.” That’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works. None of you are isolating. A negative test doesn’t mean jack shit between the 30% false negative rate and the fact that you tested and then went to three different family gatherings, work, the mall, and then the grocery store. I’m losing my mind over here and I’m not even in the ICU any more. 

Older FSIL broke up with her bf. She tried to guilt us into having her over Christmas Eve. I do feel a little bad because I know it’s lonely but I can’t take her making everything about herself. And she’s not even trying to be safe. Doesn’t wear a mask, goes to indoor exercise classes, and is going on a date with a complete stranger tonight in an underground bar. No thanks.

I'm SUPER grateful that DH turned down his BF who is in town.  The friend has a negative test taken on the 19th and is being smart where he lives with his wife BUT she's in emergency medicine and expecting.  I said that while I trust that he's being smart I can't trust everyone he's seen before us and unless he and DH hung out outside and masked I think it's too risky.

@banana468 not the same one although I do think she had it back in May because she had cough, fever, fatigue, SOB and COVID toes. Was never tested though. I should start referring to them as FSIL A (the one I am close with) and FSIL B (FI’s older sister, don’t really get along with her).

same @kerbohl there's no mistaking what i wrap. DS has one with a big gap because I mismeasured and didn't care. And then one for my mom I did the same and just took a small scrap from another present and taped it in place

Someday I will find a local friend who loves to wrap and hire them because I hate it. But I also don't really like gift bags - even though I have 100000000000 of them - so wrap I do, just cursing my way through it

Besides, the side of the present that has the tape and overlapping paper...even when it is not as overlapping as it should be, lol...is the side that goes on the bottom and isn't really seen.  Victimless crime, I say!

For real, even as a person who loves to wrap presents (and gets giddy at making them *just* right and pretty), every once in a while, one will show up with a strip missing from the bottom or a separate piece of paper covering the gap.

@kvruns Same!  I'm always mismeasuring and then have a gap and have to tack on a piece.  Now I over measure because I'm paranoid, and that looks crummy too!

One of the thing talked about with depression is to break things down. For instance, i haven't been able to unload my dishwasher. Fine, I just take out what I need, put in dirty, run when it's more full of dirty than clean or I cant tell.

I'm not sure if you're a Friends fan, but I feel like I'm Chandler in the episode where he and Monica get married.  For anyone unfamiliar, he's terrified to get married, so he runs away and Ross convinces him to just focus on the next task and not the big picture.  So step 1 is going home and showering.  The shower has been my dishwasher.  ((hugs))

Today was a rough day.  We found a local woman to make a blanket and pillow out of what little clothes my brother had that were salvagable.  They turned out so beautifully but I totally lost it in this poor stranger's sun room.  And then the cherry on top was his autopsy report came back today.  No surprises, which is good, but it just feels so final now.

I started my second part time job yesterday  (I start the first after the new year since that department is closed for the Holiday) and I'm excited about it.  Both of my new bosses are friends, but more importantly, super bad ass women electeds.  The work I'm doing for each is probably a step back for my skill set, which means they'll only love me more, but the second boss is a high profile elected so the exposure I can receive from this job is pretty damn cool.

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday with their families - but even if you don't - remember, it's okay to just be sad sometimes.  You don't owe anyone your happiness, even on the holidays.

Happy holidays @mrsmitten! Glad you’re starting what sounds to be really cool positions, even if they’re not challenging your skill set. 

I’m sure the blanket lady understood or at least was sympathetic. This has got to be a really hard time for you and your family. All the good thoughts to you all.

@mrsmitten Autopsy reports are always a mixed bag. Good for information, but I'm glad in your situation it was beneficial.
