Wedding Woes

Monday, Monday

We had such a great weekend! The weather was perfect, we spent a ton of time outside. I took baby M for a run for the first time and we grilled steaks for dinner.

This morning we discovered we have carpenter ants. Apparently we can’t have everything we want. But still a pretty good weekend overall.

Re: Monday, Monday

  • My H and I had great days Friday and Saturday.  Except we went out to a casual Mexican restaurant for Fri. lunch that I have been wanting to try forever.  Close by and over 500 reviews on Yelp with 4.5 stars.  Ugh, no!  Unfortunately, it was marginal at best.  Proving, yet again, that my fellow Louisianans have no idea what good Mexican food tastes like, lol.  I felt a little extra bad because my H had a hankerin' to get Jimmy John's instead and take it back home.  But I insisted on finally trying this place.

Sunday was a bad, bad day.  My H and I were both really sick.  He started puking late Sat. night.  I joined in at 4AM.  He stopped late Sun. morning but, for me, it was every 2-3 hours all day.  As if by a miracle, I slept all the way through the night and woke up feeling mostly fine.  There is A LOT we are going to throw out of the fridge today, lol.  I'm not even sure if it was food poisoning because we couldn't identify anything we had both eaten, but I am feeling extra touchy about food right now.  I didn't eat any solid food yesterday and have kept it light this morning.

@short+sassy, oh no!  Glad your on the mend.  When did you get your 2nd dose?  Could it have been that?  My friend gave me a good tip.  Check cvs early in the morning for openings and I got in!  March 25th is my 1st and April 17th for #2.  Thing is, nothing near me is open yet... this is 1 hour away.  Were you fine to drive home on dose #2?  I hear you get really lethargic and that happens to me already with longer drives.  I set it up for the weekend for the recovery day.
the place is abit over 1 hr from me.  I’m used to the drive because that’s where dxh lives. M can’t go with me on dose 1, but maybe I can convince him for dose 2?  I’m just worried about the long ride home.

  • We had a pretty nice, chill weekend. Also with great weather. Saturday I slept in, then went to the park, and then wound up just hanging out on the deck for most of the evening. Yesterday we did a ton of yard work, a little cleaning, and then chilled outside again. I've got to get back into the habit of taking an allergy pill every morning. Spring pollen is starting to catch up to me.

Nothing else exciting going on. H's brother decided to come down for their kids' spring break next week. I'm pretty excited to see the kids, but the timing means I can't take any days off work. At least it's dark late, so we'll be able to do things after work.
  • Weekend was productive!

I ordered donuts for St. Patrick's Day and picked them up Saturday morning.  We devoured them throughout the day and now I'm all set for donuts for a WHILE.

Fright night I had a work situation that made me SUPER anxious and I had a physiological reaction that I rarely get.  I could feel reflux setting in, got jittery and then got chills all before I calmed myself down.   Bottom line for me: I forwarded an email received to the person I *thought* was the only one to get it.  Evidently it ALSO should have been sent to another upper management member however in matters like this I've never included him before.  I literally lost sleep over this because the last thing I want to do is not follow the rules.   In addition, the documentation stated, "no acknowledgment of this indicates your compliance" which meant that if we did not acknowledge shit would roll down hill to my desk.

I think it's ultimately sorted and feel better but really got irritated at all of this.

The rest of the weekend when I wasn't acting like a Monday morning quarterback I did clean up in my office, laundry and then yesterday was sheet/laundry day.   DH also sorted out his side of the bedroom so now I have at least two more loads to do.  I know all of you are jealous.
  • I'm headed to costco soon to finally join and do a little shopping :)  I'm very exited.  Weekend was beautiful and the babe had tons of fun running around on the farm with grandma and grandpa.  My grandma also got her 2nd dose on Friday and hasn't had any side effects (YAY!) I know she was suuuuuper worried because my mom was sick for 2+ days after hers.

Trying to find vaccine appointments for H in the area and hoping he can get started soon!
  • @short+sassy that sounds miserable I hope you are feeling better now

@CharmedPam I got my 1st and 2nd about an hour away and was fine with driving (I did have a migraine but it had already started before my shot so I'm not sure if it affected it at all). I don't know of any friends who had immediate reactions to either, most that felt bad were hours later - usually 12-18 hours later.
  • @short+sassy I hope you and your H feel better!  When DH had a bug we threw out all the things he ate that I didn't because I refused to consume them.  Years ago when a virus went through the house it was AWFUL.

H got served his papers on Saturday.  Was hoping it’d be when the kids were at school but at least it’s behind me.  He’s finally looking into hiring a lawyer, which is good.  Can I just fast forward a few months? 😖
Super big virtual hug @ei34, I want this to be fast fowarded for you.  Rest assured, brighter days ARE ahead.

thanks for that reassurance @kvruns! I was just so happy to get the 2nd dose on a weekend.  Thought that wouldn’t work out for me, but it did.

weather was gorgeous here too.  We took M’s dog for a walk.. probably over 1 mile, not too too long, I got cocky and put flip flops on though, since I didn’t feel like putting socks on (hate socks & spring/summer!) and now I have sores on the top of my foot where the material was.

I don't think it was related to my second dose.  I had that last Tuesday.  And my H hasn't had any doses at all yet, but we were sick at the same time.  His first is scheduled for this Thursday (same as you!).

Yay!  I'm glad you were able to schedule your first dose!

After the first dose, which I went 90 minutes away to Biloxi for, I was fine to drive back home.  Though my H came with me, jic.  I was fine that first day, but really lethargic the second day.

My second dose, I was able to get much closer and it was only a 5-minute drive back home, lol.  I felt fine the same day, except my arm hurt more.  I could have easily driven for one hour.  The second day I felt "meh", but it was tolerable enough I went to work.  I actually felt a little worse on the 3rd day, but that wasn't too bad either.  I've heard a lot of people talk about how bad they felt after the second dose, but usually it was the next day.

As it starts getting close to your second dose, things may have shaken up a bit and there is more availability.  Root around and see if you can find an appointment closer.  That was what I did!  I also learned that the first dose vs. the second dose are exactly the same, as long as it is the same vaccine.  So, if your first dose is Pfizer, make sure your second dose is Pfizer.

Edited to add:  I don't know if it is like this in IL, but MS with my first dose gave me a CDC card where they documented the date and type of vaccine I was given.  That card was especially helpful to get my second shot, since I was going to a different place.  They a little bit side-eyed me about it and I felt like the card gave me more "weight and proof" that I needed the second dose.

I gave the card to the pharmacy when I checked in.  I had already told them on my appointment request that this was my second dose and I needed Moderna specifically.  They had "Moderna" listed on my appointment verification and the pharmacist said it also.  But it gave me piece of mind that they were able to review the same thing in black and white on the card.  They also filled in the next line with the date I was given the second dose.

Thanks @short+sassy!  Yup, there’s like 5 places closer to me that I’m keeing my eye on. I check the minute I wake up. Despite being far, also not the best area either.  It’s Pfizer, which I think all of the cvs’s carry.  When you made your apt did you book both at the same time?
Edit - and I’m sorry didnt realize it was last Tuesday, thought it was after that.  At least you can narrow it down to food poisoning then?

  • love that living room right along with you, @VarunaTT.  despite some gloomy days I think the decorting/meal prep/workouts will help lift those spirits.  Hoping anyway.

They didn't allow me to book both at the same time.  They also didn't set the second appointment the time I got the first dose.  But to get the first dose, I had to sign up and register on a website.  At the first dose appointment...which was actually a big drive thru thing at the MS Coliseum...they gave me literature to set up my second dose through the same website and also sent me reminder e-mails.

I logged in the day after the first dose and set up my appointment for the second dose.  I didn't have any trouble and my profile was already updated that I'd received the first dose, so all the availability for the second dose was automatically after the 28 days I needed to wait.

I mentioned it at the time, but something went awry with my appointment for the second dose that I fortunately discovered before I made the trek to MS.  At the time, I was super annoyed, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise.  The next day, Louisiana opened it up to people with medical conditions and I was able to get a nearby appointment a week later.  But that was why the pharmacy in NOLA was a little side-eying me.  Because most people get their two doses at the same place.

  • @VarunaTT, That rug is fantastic!  I also like that the color of the couches is picked up by one of the colors in the rug.

Tomorrow getting the first Moderna shot.
Yay Jen! Have your parents had theirs yet?
  • @VarunaTT love the living room set up, especially the curtains. I love that you can finally build your home in a way that makes you happy. The lamps are fabulous, think of the cost per use if that helps make the price seem more manageable.

    @STARMOON44 enjoy your trip!

Ssdd here. 🤷 Work, taking the car to shop this weekend, feeding people non stop. Happy to be boring at the moment.
