Second Weddings

Second time bride.

Tried on wedding dresses yesterday for the first time. It suddenly hit how real it is. I divorced my first husband 12 years ago. I last went shopping for a wedding dress when I was 18. It was so overwhelming. I felt so old compared to all the other brides. :(  I found the dress I think I want but I felt like the attendant really didnt want to work with me. She seemed disappointed that I wasnt going to wear a veil and headpiece she did put on me was HIDEOUS. My fiance was with me. ( No nitpicking moms allowed!) and he burst out laughing at that atrocity. lol

6 months to my second and last wedding.

Re: Second time bride.

  • Honestly - I think if you went to David's Bridal be prepared that they are going to want to be like a Cinderella fairy godmother and think you're just not dressed without the veil and all the extras soup to nuts.  A friend went there and was a first time bride and complained that was their process.  They want to keep you buying all the add-ons!

That dress is GORGEOUS.  Remember, it's up to you to make a decision and you don't need to let a sales person push you into a decision that you're not comfortable with.
  • Thanks. Im only going to Davids because were arent having a huge wedding, even if Covid wasnt a factor. (He has never been married so I want to look like some semblance of a bride) and I just want to be able to buy the dress, not fuss with ordering and all of that.

She didnt even try with the headpiece, though. It was some fugly headband thing made out of ribbon and pink flowers. *vomit* I have a chin length bob.

The dress is beautiful. If you love it, and it is in the budget, buy it. Who TF cares what some sales person thinks.
  • That's a beautiful dress!  If you like it, get it.  Sales people, no matter the industry, can be hit or miss.  Don't let the bad incident with that one person sour the experience.

And people get married at all ages!  If there happened to be some younger brides in the shop, so be it.  In the United States, the average age people get married is in their late 20s.
