Two MOGs?

My fiance's mothers are gay and have been in a loving committed relationship for over 30 years (goals). He and I have been wondering about how he'll tackle the mother/son dance. Obviously one is not more of a mom than the other and there's no way he'd choose between them (nor would I ever ask him to). I know the father/daughter dance means a lot to my dad so I wouldn't want to cut the mother/son dance out just due to difficulty. That would be unfair for a billion reasons.

I can't imagine we're the first to have this question but I can't seem to find anything out there with any advice.

Re: Two MOGs?

  • He could just take turns and dance with both of them. Maybe start a song with one and have the other cut in.
  • I think he should ask them what they want to do.    In a situation like this it sounds like they have a great relationship so he can ask what their preference is.  They may have some ideas.
  • Have him talk to his Moms about what they want to do, but if they ask for suggestions maybe switching half way through?
  • I would suggest picking one song and switching halfway through, or picking 2 very short songs (or cutting longer songs down) and dance with each individually.

Your FI should talk to his moms about what they want. But I think the easiest solution is to start the dance with one and have the other cut in to finish it.
