Wedding Woes

Zzzzz...Tuesday

The only thing worse than not sleeping for a night is getting a good night's sleep the next one and then still being tired.

Leaving here in a few to get my first Fauci Ouchie.

New podcast for True Crimers: OC Swingers
Brene Brown's Unlocking Us interview with Brandi Carlile is amazing.  I listened to her catalog all weekend.

Worky work, blerg.

Tuesday is the longest day.

Re: Zzzzz...Tuesday

  • I've been so tired lately. For awhile I was waking up and ensuring M came to bed, but past couple nights I've just slept. And I'm still tired in the morning :(
This weekend I may take some melatonin and maybe I'm not getting restful sleep? Idk.

Anyways, if anyone looks up the trash happening in Ontario - our premier is not well liked, neither is our education minister. Anyways letter came out saying "oh schools are staying open after this week"
THEN a press conference and they're like "oh everyone is going to remote learning"

Alberta and Ontario are the WORST and I truly believe it's because we are run by conservatives. People keep trying to post blame on Trudeau but honestly, I don't think he is a large blame here.
  • Tuesday is the worst day. I woke up with a murderous headache today. I'm blaming the pollen and the fact that I got sucked into my book and didn't go to bed until almost 1 last night.

Yay for vaccines! I have my second shot this afternoon. I'm a little concerned about after-effects. I still have a busy week and can't really take a sick day. I'm hoping I get lucky.
  • I have to get my library card renewed but the library that's closest to our house that we love is technically out of our district.  So i have to go to the downtown one and it's just annoying enough that I haven't done it and my card expired a month ago.  I miss books!

I ordered a new breast pump yesterday (exciting, i know...) and decided to try one of the "hands free" ones that supposedly just fits in your bra and the pump can be attached to your belt loop or something.  We'll see how it goes.  At least if I like the cups, they are compatible with the stronger hospital grade pump I already have.

Work is busy busy busy, so looking forward to the weekend.  H has his second shot on Saturday morning so i'm hoping he feels ok otherwise i'm pretty on my own with the baby guy all weekend.  Worth it though to have him finished!

It's a really boring day at work.  That's about all I have, lol.

We have a couple fairly new projects at work and they are VERY different from how we have done things in the past.  The client's procurement department asked me yesterday for a warehouse requisition number.  They sent a follow-up e-mail this morning about that same one and another one.  I keep telling them I didn't order those materials and don't even recognize the format for the package numbers they are giving me, much less those specific packages.  When I replied back this morning, I cc'ed the engineers I support (also client employees).  I am always kept out of the loop on things, so maybe they know what he is talking about.

From my perspective, it feels like everyone started jumping into things before full processes were put in place.  It's definitely been a lot of confusion.  Me: "Hey, I just work here," lol.

  • I'm so miserable with my allergies right now. I'm OK during the day when I can take behind the counter sudafed but then it keeps me up at night so I don't take it past the afternoon.

Took DS to the dentist today. I'd be skipping his because he just cries the whole time and they're still not doing the rotary brush. But I decided to take him this time and he was AMAZING. Seriously I couldn't believe it. He let them clean his teeth with the scraper thing, look forever, floss and flouride, etc. I need to buy a lottery ticket
  • @climbingsingle glad you're able to get some furniture back. Is someone going with you? Will he be there?
  • I am also sleepy today. I could barely keep my eyes open to read my DD stories last night, and went to bed early and slept late and I still feel like I needed more sleep. I didn't make coffee either and my tea is not cutting it today!

Fingers crossed for no side effects @MyNameIsNot !

That will be nice to get more furniture @c@climbingsingle . I hate having things in disarray. Hope that all goes smoothly!
  • That’s an awesome friend @climbingsingle, hopefully organization hits your life quickly

j&j, my new boss just got it so I’m hoping she’s ok too.  I hear it hits 8-16 days after? Eeek! Good luck @mrsconn23

I found a reasonably priced lawn service to start Thursday on my lawn.  Yesterday I came home and both my neighbors in each side were having their lawn mowed.  Fine! I’ll do mine too, jeez. Remember when I said I was going move a bunch of logs into the garage on Friday?  I didn’t.  And I also asked for a quote from these people to do that too becuase... I don’t wanna.

  • Did I mention we are going to try potty training again this summer?
M & I are splitting the time, so we're fully doing 3 weeks.

Currently stocking up on cracker snacks, juice and closer to the time we'll get popsicles and more pouches too. I've heard some kids tend to go on a liquid strike, so options to hydrate without water ;)

    Got my Pfizer.

But, my sister was freaking out because BIL got j&j over a week ago. I reminded her that it’s only 6 cases and it’s an over abundance of caution. And correlation =/= causation. I understand the nerves.
And looking into this, those affected are all women.

My H pointed out that incidence of blood clots in actually having covid is much higher than in the vaccine. Yes I understand the nerves, also.

I’m a broken record on this, but it is April and stocking up on crackers to be prepared for potty training in the summer is absurd. Surely there is something either more pressing or more fun for you to be spending your time and energy on? I’m a planner to, but crackers can live at the store until needed and children make there own schedules- maybe she’ll be ready sooner! Maybe later!

We also have to make her lunch for 3 weeks and instead of basically spending a lot right before we're off is just not doable for budget. Last year I nearly doubled my budget to include her lunches
Even if we weren't training, I'd still be buying extra.

May long weekend we're doing our backyard so BK can be in the backyard at least in undies at some point.

This.  If you want to eat crackers then buy them.  If there was a cracker shortage and you need to have them then buy them.  But buying crackers in April because you think you might want them in in June is overkill and I'm a chronic planner.

Also, potty training is going to be best when it's on her schedule.  I hate changing diapers too but I at least found success that my kids PTd when they said, "I want to go on the potty."  Until that time, it was a battle of wits and the person who won shat his pants.  I watched BIL and SIL doing load of laundry after laundry with their kids when the answer was, "Stop doing this he's not ready."

Chiquita was happy to train at 2.5.  We did a weekend of no pants and she wore dresses and it clicked.  Chiquito was a full year older and it didn't take until he gave me an inquisitive stare and said, "I think I need to go on the potty."  From then there was no looking back.  Before then it was a novelty and there was no food that would reinforce it..
  • My grandsons PT'd around the holidays (early for boys in particular). One still has a little issue with a bowel movement. Their nanny suggested stamps instead of food as an incentive because it was a fear kind of thing not a readiness thing. It works pretty well. The peeing thing happened almost instantly because they were both ready. One trained one week, the other the next. They have done that with every milestone. One does something then the other follows. It isn't the same one going first though, it varies.

There is always a cracker shortage when BK is home long periods of time - they're part of her regular lunches.

Daycare tries to get her on the potty regularly - any time she's done it, it's always been just really good timing. She did better when the older girls were there.

Last year I think she was ready but tbh I don't think we were ready to push it, so there was a lot of mixed messages. This year I think we're all more ready.
In the evenings we go pant-less and "oh let's sit on the potty for a couple mins" regularly. I'm like 90% sure she can feel when she has to pee because a few times before we started this, she'd come and ask for diaper while holding herself.

The way Chiquita is with it suddenly just "clicked" is what BK has been with a lot of things - nothing, and maybe a day or so of practice and suddenly can do it with no issues.
I'm hoping training will be same, but we've got 3 weeks. M is up first and he has more patience so I think it will go smoother.
  • She'll figure it out @MissKittyDanger as long as you follow her cues you'll all do great

My sister and BIL got J&J last week.  Better to have it than not, although I totally understand who feels nervous.
@climbingsingle yay for the furniture @kvruns the allergies sound miserable! And thank you for reminding me I need to book dentist appts for my kids.

  • @banana468 ohhh! Lol oops, misunderstanding! No known cracker shortage, but right now on really good sale so taking advantage with extra.

    @kvruns Last time she didn't have noticable cues, so we're hoping once we start she will have some. I know when she had an accident a couple weeks ago, she took off and hid to pee. {this was post bath}
  • Ughhh found a tick on myself this morning so waiting at the doctor’s office. I should have just stayed inside!

That sucks, hope you’re okay! I had one 2ish years ago and honestly the preventive antibiotics they gave me were worse than anything I was feeling (I was totally fine).

@MissKittyDanger I don't mean cracker shortage because your kid eats a lot of crackers.  I mean shortage of crackers in Canada due to national or global production shortages.  Like right now we are on the precipice of a TP shortage again and there's a continued bucatini shortage.
When that ship was stuck in the Suez Canal, I read an article that it could lead to a TP shortage.  But that was when they thought it was going to be stuck for weeks, instead of only one week.  "Only" being a very relative word.

I hadn't realized we might still have a TP Shortage of 2021 event.  I should finally get around to buying a bidet, lol.

They did for me, I’m sorry! But I react to medicines pretty easily. Also I asked for something to combat a yeast infection given how strong the antibiotics are in case I got one!
