Wedding Woes

Fantastic Friday

My interview went really well yesterday. I don't want to get too ahead of myself but I felt like we had really good conversation and the way the everything went I would be very surprised if I don't get an offer. They asked about salary and I gave a number range with the low end being almost 10 grand over what I'm making now and they didn't balk. I definitely knew I am getting underpaid at my current company based on research I have done but that was still surprising. Aside from the money it would be a shorter commute and seems like a good culture fit too. I am supposed to hear back today or Monday at the latest so keep everything crossed for me!

Fingers crossed @Jstump2 that sounds very promising
  • Good luck @Jstump2!  I hope you hear something soon.

Happy Mother's Day weekend to y'all that are moms or have moms or love kids like you're a mom or anything in between.  A special happy one to new moms!

Weekend is going to be low-key, I think.  I say that and then shit happens.

I do know Sunday will include mimosas one way or another.

    Other than that, SSDD.
  • Saturday needs to be clean and prep time.

We're hosting the ILs for Mother's Day starting at 2 but Chiquita has a soccer game starting at 9.  DH better make my favorite Mother's Day breakfast: Dunkin.

  • Fingers crossed @Jstump2 !

I sorted a bit of BK's summer stuff because right now she cannot wear tank tops, and there are shorts I want her to wear first - in case they don't fit.
18m is a weird size on her, and some fit really big. I feel like the shorts may last a bit of the summer, but I have lots of 2T items so I'm not super concerned.

Weather is just .... weird. I wish it'd warm up. I really sick of pants and socks lmao

Side note, BK has her 3yr appt on her bday. So M is driving us, but I'm going in {no shots lmao} I asked M to do a starbucks pick up since it's across the parking lot. That way BK gets a fun cake pop after lol
    I cannot believe she's gonna be 3 O_O

@MNNEBride. Hugs to you and your friend’s family.

Last day of training today. It’s going to be so nice to get back into my own groove and work. Hike tonight with FSIL and then tomorrow I am meeting my Mom, Aunt, and Grandmother for lunch after my eye appointment. I haven’t seen my Aunt since Thanksgiving 2019, my grandmother since last March, or my Mom since October. It will be really nice to see them. They might not recognize me. I’m 35 lbs lighter and have a completely different hair color, lol. I’m a little nervous for my eye appointment before just because I’m pretty sure I need new glasses and contacts and it’s going to be an expensive visit.

    Happy Mother’s Day to everyone!

  • Ugh, I am barely making it through the day.  I'm really tired and just frustrated by a lot of things.  At least it's a half day, but then I have a gas station audit to complete when I get off work.  Then a trip to the bank.

Pres. Biden visited NOLA yesterday.  He headed back to the airport JUST in time for rush hour traffic.  My coworker in the cube next to me was stuck in traffic for 2 1/2 hours!  I think her normal commute time is 1 hour.

I went out to dinner with a friend who now lives in AL, but was in town.  We went to a steakhouse I'd been wanting to try.  The steaks were very high quality and delicious but, yeesh, they were expensive.  I was planning to get a side salad but, even those were $13, so I didn't.  I just can't bring myself to pay that much for a bit of lettuce, lol.  But I'm glad I finally tried the restaurant and it was a great evening.

Happy Mother's Day weekend to all the WW moms on here!

It’s nice that you’ll be able to reconnect @levioosa
    Fingers crossed @Jstump2

Happy Mother’s Day to all who celebrate and hugs to anyone missing their mom/mother figure. Tomorrow will be errands/ballet/sports but the kids’ league doesn’t play games on Mother’s Day so Sunday will be nothing but mass and an early pizza dinner at my parents’ house, with my sisters too.  Looking forward to it.

He's giving the commencement speech at the CG Academy in a couple weeks.  I already told DH so we can avoid the area.

Years ago Cheney gave the address there and took a boat across the river to the factory where nuclear subs are made.  As a security measure they closed the highway bridge over the river.

The same highway that is THE only way to travel across that river in CT on the coast getting to RI.  It was also a nightmare for a few hours.
  • Good luck on the potential new jobs, @Jstump2 and @STARMOON44!

@STARMOON44, Phew, 6 interviews is a lot!  I know how it is to get a bad inkling, but hopefully they go with you.

The last time I was unemployed, my friend referred me for job at the company she worked for.  It was 4 interviews.  I remember feeling it was a good sign through the 3rd interview.  But when they scheduled me for the 4th, that actually felt like an "uh oh".

My 3rd interview had been with the owner.  However, my 4th was with the sales manager, ie one "level down" for lack of a better term.  It wasn't a sales job, it was a software training job.  But the majority of employees were the salespeople.  I instinctively felt the owner wasn't sure, so he wanted another opinion from the second-in-command.

Unfortunately, I did not get the job.  But because I had someone on the "inside", my friend gave me a hilarious update about a month later.  The person they did hire was difficult to work with and was not a good fit at all.  She ended up walking off the job in the middle of the day during her second week.  I was hoping they would contact me.  But it had been a new position in the company and they ended up not hiring anyone else

Fingers crossed @STARMOON44 6 interviews, sheesh!
  • FXd for the jobs @STARMOON44 and @Jstump2! H's follow up appointment went well so he just has to go see our regular optometrist in a couple of weeks.

I need to call a bathroom designer to set up an appointment to come up with a master bath design. I emailed her a little over a week ago and haven't heard back. I'm guessing my email may have gone into her spam mail. I'm so tired I don't feel like cleaning the rest of the house. I got our bathroom and bedroom cleaned but just don't have the energy to do anything else. I think I'll procrastinate until tomorrow.

I'm so ready for spring sandal wearing weather!

    Guess what I bought today!

Kiddos are getting new Grogu jammies and Chiquita gets a Grogu t shirt.

I debated getting new ones for me but I have plenty of pajamas now and would rather put $ into coordinating while conscious.
  • @STARMOON44 and @Jstump2, Good luck on the interview results! Sending vibes.

Nothing much going on here. I'm so glad it's Friday. I realized this morning that today is the 19th day I've worked in a row. Tomorrow I'm eating junk food and watching netflix in bed. Any recs?

Happy mother's day to all the moms and mom-type people! I'm hosting a belated mother's day next weekend when my grandma and god-mother are in town, so no mother's day plans this weekend.
  • I'm taking this weekend off.  I've stepped up to start helping with something that I probably should've said no to, but I also feel the need to prove myself after the hellish months I've had and that work stuck by me for.  But I'm pretty sure I'm going to need to pull 10-12 hours days to accomplish it all, probably for a few months.

No big plans for the weekend.  I really want to watch Shadow and Bone, so I might get through that.  I just finished Motherland: Fort Salem and I really liked it.  I had not been watching it b/c some websites I trust were calling it trauma porn, but I think they were really wrong in that evaluation.  Highly recommend, probably one of the most interesting "witch" shows I've ever seen (hulu).

No plans for the weekend for me.  It's supposed to be a little on the chilly side.  I must say though, this weather means that my cherry blossoms last a lot longer.  That's a silver lining in all these clouds.

  • Ohhh my fun weekend plan is getting a haircut and highlights. I cannot wait. I don’t usually color my hair but I want a lift. My salon moved during Covid and apparently the new space is really nice.
