is a month and a half enough time between an elopement and the reception?

Hi all! I am currently in the process of planning the reception for our future elopement (I know, we are also planning on our elopement haha) and we are planning on eloping on the 2nd of February '22 and holding a reception/celebration dinner on the 19th of March '22. My fiancé's family lives in a different state and I want to give them enough time to book a place to stay and have time to get a flight/drive. Does this feel reasonable enough? I would be sending e-invites/elopement announcement the day of the elopement.

  • First of all you are not having a reception you are having a party celebrating your marriage. A reception is the party that is given to thank thank your guests for attending your wedding. You are eloping; therefore, you don't have a reception. As for your celebration, 6 to 8 weeks should be plenty of time for people to arrange travel and lodging. That is the typical time that invitations are sent for weddings.
