Early December wedding in Houston, need ideas

We want to get married in early December 2012 (i know it seems like a long time away but I want to get a venue locked down before all the companies rent them out for Christmas parties and such).

Has anyone had a December wedding in Houston? Any styling ideas? Venue ideas?  Having the ceremony/reception outside is out of the question because of our crappy unpredictable weather, who knows if it'll be hot or literally freezing cold! haha.

I'm just trying to get the ball rolling since I have the time to do it and i have ZERO ideas and know nothing about planning a wedding. I'm not going to hire a wedding planner, my friends have planned their own weddings without going crazy or broke, so I have faith in myself :-)

I would be thankful for any ideas/suggestions!

What part of town are you wanting to do this in? Ideal guest list number? Budget? Give us a little more info and we can help you out. :)

Galveston has some nice places run by the historical society.  I'm getting married at Garten Verein.

I did a wedding in early January at The Gallery. They include the tables and chiavari chairs, and it's a GORGEOUS space if it suits your look. (sort of grotto-meditteranian) I could be wrong but I want to say it's $4500 on a Saturday and $3500 on a Sunday. I think you could definitely stay within your $15K budget there....

I am getting married December 17th of this year. We started planning in January of this year right after we got engaged and found that many vendors were already booked for Christmas functions. So you are right that just because it is December start planning early! :)

We are having our reception at the Museum of Natural Science. Also be sure and book your caterer early because that is a busy time of year for them as well!

    Good luck to you.

We are November 2012 and are trying to plan early for the same reasons. One of the most reasonable places we looked at was Brennan's brunch and muncheon memu. its a gorgeous venue too.

I found a place called Cypress Chateau, it looks nice and it's very affordable, less than $8k for the ceremony AND reception! what a steal! it also includes the cake and food and decorations they already have.  I'm going to take a look in a few weeks and see if i can find some other knotties that may have had their weddings there to get more info.
