Nice @Jstump2!  Huge sigh of relief for you.  Fx the sell of your house goes well too.

Last night I had a great dinner with my friend and her family, I haven’t seen them since Aug of 2019, so it was really nice to catch up. I’m planning a trip to see her soon.  M liked them, so I’m sure he’ll join me.  They live in Iowa and he went to college in Iowa so they all had what I called the “The corn connection”.

Tonight, my fist movie back to the amc A-list club is Those Who Wish Me Dead, because I have a feeling it’s leaving theatres soon.

  • @Jstump2, awesome!  That is such amazing news!  I know you all had almost given up on finding a house right now.  It looks so spacious.  That's also a really nice, updated shower.  Crossing fingers everything goes smoothly through closing.

This has been a major "technological challenge" week for me!  The internet was not working for my laptop on Mon. or when I got home on Tues.  My H was at least able to fix it, though.  At work, one of my databases hasn't been running a report incorrectly.  The IT guy has tried to fix it a couple times, though remotely.  It's weird because the same report runs fine for him.  He is stopping by, in person, this morning.

But I was excited he had run it for me, so I could finally send it.  It's a weekly report and I haven't sent it in 3 weeks!  Except then the website I check for PO statuses was down, so I couldn't update it.  Are you kidding me?  Geez!  It rarely happens that website is down, but then I guess that is Murphy's Law for you!

Then I sent a text to my H this morning, but it didn't go through.  It went through after I restarted my phone, but then my next one didn't.  I powered off and back on and I was able to send two texts to him.  But then it stopped again.  I have given up for now, lol.

Other than that, it should be a fairly busy day at work which I am glad about, but nothing too stressful.

I had a happy surprise yesterday.  I went to pay my Amazon 'cc and my balance was zero.  How did that happen, lol?  It was a light spending month, but still.  I bought things.  Then I remembered I'd used some gift cards I'd had lying around.  Though I hadn't realized I'd only been using gift cards for the last month.  Sweet!

I am so tired this morning.  I've been sleeping in the spare room so i can open the windows to enjoy the beautiful ~50 degree weather without freezing out H but I've been sleeping so hard it's tough to get up in the morning!  And just feel puffy today.  Yuck.

My parents are visiting this weekend and are going to help us get a few more things done around the house while G is at school Friday, then they'll still have the whole weekend with us!  I know my dad is chomping at the bit to take G out for ice cream, lol.  It's supposed to be miserably hot (90+...ugh) but hoping the kid likes running through the sprinkler and doesn't mind that my feet will be in his pool all weekend while I sit in the shade.

4 more weeks til my due date and I am VERY ready (physically, still not quite ready at home or work)

    Happy birthday @ei34 !!!
  • Happy birthday @ei34!

  • Congrats @Jstump2!  Looks like a great house! I think I had that duvet or one similar to it a few years back, LOL.

It's rainy and blah.  My friends are all on the the struggle bus at varying levels.

Also, we found an infestation of what we're pretty sure are ants (please just be ants and nothing more invasive).  I think when we ripped up our carpet it created an air pocket to the outside where there's a small hole in our brick and they found their way in.  I believe we found it early.  DH went to get bug killer for indoors and outdoors and sprayed it down.  We've left the bug graveyard for today to see if there's any other movement.  If there is, we'll have to shell out $$ for an exterminator.  Ughhh.  DH needs to get clear caulk to plug the hole, but it has to wait for the rain to stop.  I was bothered all night and feeling like I had the creepy crawlies. Bugs are the worst.

Ugh!  Speaking of ants, I went to leave my house today and saw a million of them outside in my front.  I quickly used some ant killer on them but becuase I’d be late for work, disn’t use my gel. I’ll do that after work.  But I also know it takes about 48 hours for them to clear.

stupid question, and maybe you’ll know this @short+sassy, but does having an ant hill infront of your house look bad for an appraisal?  They’re coming tomorrow at noon to take a look for my HELOC! The ants wont be gone by then!

  • @Jstump2, Congratulations! Did you end up getting in the school district where you wanted to be? I know you were so concerned about being somewhere before school starts in the fall.

SSDD here. I'm kind of uninspired at work right now. I can't tell if it's a general issue or if it's that I'm kind of checked out for vacation already. Hopefully it's the latter.
  • Happy birthday @ei34!  Your students are very diverse is guessing age ....

@mrsconn23 We had an infestation of weevils.  Turns out all we had to do was clean the house and keep our food in airtight containers, and now they are gone.  I hope you have as much success as we did!  I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to get rid of them.  Oh, and vinegar and powdered mint because bugs can't stand the smell.  I am very happy my mint is ready for harvest because I have to use a lot of it.  I rub it on the dog as well to deter bugs, since we can't give her tick medication.

Our premier is announcing this afternoon if kids go back to school before the end of the school year.  I don't think it will happen, but I'm anxious to find out.

  • @charlotte989875 thanks! Yup, we started looking in October and this is the 4th house we've made an offer on!

No, that shouldn't matter at all, lol.  At least where I live, they don't seem to consider much of the outdoor areas, other than the total square footage of the lot.  I even had an appraiser tell me that because, at the time, I was concerned about a huge pile of debris in the backyard that the guy we hired hadn't removed yet.

In my experience, appraisers mainly only look at the big picture.  The square footage for the property itself and the lot.  Is the house in poor, average, very good, or excellent condition.  The nearby comps.

Sometimes that is frustrating when you've made awesome upgrades to a property and none of it seems considered (grumble, grumble).  Like when I added an amazing, really large deck off my back bedroom.  But my next appraisal (also for a HELOC) only added $500 for it.  Jerks.

I really saw that when I had appraisals done at the same time for my two reno'ed duplexes when I was refi'ing them.  I felt like the one that was the "worst" when I bought it, should have appraised higher then the other one because I was forced to spend $12k on a new roof and $3K on new windows.  The second one had barely "okay" windows so I didn't replace them, but they are old and single-paned.  The roof was decent, but probably about 20 years old.  Nope!  Both appraisals came back with the same value.

I'm trying to book my ticket to go to Sacramento in late August.  I hate booking airline tickets, it makes me so nervous.  I'm thinking about flying out late Thursday, so we can have all day Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and then late Monday.  It'll make work on Tuesday suck, but these are some of my most favorite people in the world and I get to marry them, so it's going to fly by and be a wonderful time.

Booking airline travel also makes me anxious.  It feels like such a commitment.  I will search flights on average a dozen times before pulling the trigger.  LOL
  • Happy birthday! @ei34

    Congrats on the house! @Jstump2

I am at work and exhausted. I am tired of only getting 5.5 hours of sleep a night. I think tonight I’ll try sleeping separately from FI. I have a massage tomorrow and I hope it helps me feel more relaxed. The next two weeks are so busy. Heck, the next month and a half is going to be busy.

It's good to know I'm not the only one, lol.

And I will check the info 10x before clicking on the "purchase" button.

I'm always paranoid that I accidentally chose the wrong date or didn't notice the times were am instead of pm (or vice versa).

I "sort of" had that happen when I booked my flight to Spain early last year.  For the cruise I still haven't been able to go on, but I digress, lol.  I thought the airline had made a typo because it showed my arrival in Spain as being 10:40 AM instead of 10:40 PM.  Except my flight left NOLA at 10:20am, so that's just silly I'd arrive in Spain only 20 minutes later even with a 6-hour time difference.  Ha, ha, ha.

I stared at the info for a long time before I realized I shouldn't have been focused on the times at all.  I needed to be focused on the DATES.  The time was correct.  It was a Spain arrival at 10:40AM.  The NEXT DAY, lmao.  I had no idea it took so long to fly to Europe!  To be fair, the transatlantic flight itself is more like 10 hours and the time change is against you going East.  But first I would need to fly to NYC for a 7-hour layover, smh.  Just about all the flights were like that.

7 hours!  I was planning to leave JFK.  Go grab some delicious pizza for lunch and spend a few hours at The Met before heading back, lol.

  • I usually end up being the person who books the group stuff. I already exist at a certain level of anxiety and I am downright high strung about booking. I check it against the dates about 12 times, then I pull a Ron Burgandy-esqe move with

And then I make everyone else double check and make sure the dates and times are correct. Lol.

  • Kinda quiet today but that's exactly what I need.

    Congratulations @Jstump2.

    Happy birthday @ei34.
  • Happy Birthday @ei34! Congratulations on the house @Jstump2! So glad you got in the school district you want before school starts.

I'm in Chicago again this week. Been busy with the older boys - today was planting herbs in pots. I'm sure we will do some baking at some point. I can't believe they will be three in a little over a week. I'll be going home and coming back with H for their birthday. Nothing much else going on just getting baby snuggles and toddler sass!
