Hi All, my fiancé and I are both getting married for the second time. We don't want anything traditional and the most important thing to us is spending time with family. We plan on having a quick short religious ceremony followed by a 2 hour cocktail hour and then heading to a resort where everyone can spend time together. People can stay a night, the weekend or the whole week (it will be in driving distance for everyone). We will plan some small events such as a food truck visit for lunch one day and a cruise on the lake one night. Everyone I've talked to in my family is on board and love the idea. My mom's family is very close and we love getting together for reunions.
I'm stuck on how to word this on the invitations and website. Has anyone done this or attended a wedding like this before? Are poems cheesy? I threw together the below but I'm not sure how I feel about it:
We know it isn’t traditional,
It’s not the way it’s done
But instead of pots and pans,
We’d like a little fun!
So come to the ceremony and for a few cocktails
then join us for a week of swimming, sun, and trails!
There’s something for everyone to do as they please
Whether it’s time in the lake, in the pool, or amongst the
trees.
