Wedding Woes

Thursday Thursday

Off to a great start already.  I was doing my hair and my elbow hit the bottom of my cheap medicine cabinet, and the dowels holding it altogether came apart. All my bottom shelf creams and lotions came pouring out.  I just looked at it (most of them made it to the sink only) and was like “I do NOT have time for this!”. Then when I got to work, I asked myself “did you shut the garage door?” It’s garbage day and I opened it for that.. but was in a hurry and second guessed myself.  So I will be leaving in a few to do a sanity check.

My make-up is ON POINT today.  I recently bought colorpop’s “going coconuts” palette and the colors are gorgeous.  Plus, I preordered Kat Von D’s new album this morning (comes out Aug 27th).  Has a very rock 80’s feel so far. Only 2 songs have been released.  The rock one is pretty good and has an evenesence vibe to it, but the slower one…not her best.  I still like her and want to support her.  I also heard she was Jesse James’ mistress but I can’t find an article anywhere saying that. I know they dated, but I always thought it was after he and Sandra split. Every article says Kat was cheated on by him and his mistress was Michelle “bombshell” McGee, so I’m going with that so I can still like her.

    ugh what a morning @CharmedPam If the garage thing happens a lot you might like something like this where you can use an app to double check it is closed and close it if necessary that way https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075H7Z5L8/
  • So I'm basically back from 36hr hell of the 2nd vax
    Good lord that hits hard!

    I'm feeling better today. Still a little tired but I figure that's just from being sore still and recovering.
  • Oh that is neat @kvruns! I’ll look into that but I think after I get a new door.  My garage door is like 700 years old (ok that may be an exaggeration).

    Did you get AZ or a different one?   The 2nd one wiped me out.

    That said, my coworker recovering from Covid has had it for 3 weeks so I'll still take 36 hours over this.
  • Ugh, I hate mornings like that!

    We've had some crazy storms this week and NOW we're getting the remnants of Elsa tomorrow. Seems like it's going to be the worst for the drive in tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be able to get home!
  • I highly recommend the Nexx app for your phone.  It's saved my sanity so I know when the garage is open.

    I walked with SIL this morning at the boardwalk and now I need a shower now that I have a gap in meetings.   MIL has been....interesting this week.

    1st was Pfizer, 2nd Moderna

    I definitely would rather this vs covid but holy crap that was literal awful. I can't imagine covid.
  • Interesting that they allowed for mixed vaxxing @MissKittyDanger.  I know it's been talked about here, but it hasn't been greenlit.  I've heard from everyone who got Moderna that shot #2 kicked their ass.  I hope you feel better soon!

    I'm waiting for DefConn to get home from his overnight camp.  I've missed him so much.

    The kiddo is living back here, at least temporarily.  We had to assist him in securing a car yesterday (the car saga with that kid is long, winding, storied, and frustrating AF).  He and the GF are at the 'it's complicated' fork in the road.  He did get off the lease apparently.  We're working very hard on being patient and it's taking everything in our souls to not 'c'mon man!' him.

    On top of all that (waves hand) DH's cousin whom we haven't seen in over 2 years is staying here tonight on her way back to IL from NC.  And tomorrow our friends from CA are coming for dinner.  Work is in the way of life right now.  I'm contemplating leaving at lunch just so I can collect myself and do a few things around the house to prepare for 2 days of guests.

    And now, on to solving other people's problems.  Prudie coming up.
  • @mrsconn23 It seems that because Pfizer is only acceptable for those 12-17 they wanted to reduce anyone over 17 to get Pfizer.
    They did a bunch of studies in Spain and EU about mixing because they wanted to cut out AZ
    Mid-yesterday I felt better because headache stopped at least :) I'm back at work. Just tired but overall good.

    Welcome back to normal life @MissKittyDanger!  I think a cvs here in the states accidently “mixed” vaccines and it was all over the news! Nothing happened to those people though.  Lol.

    @banana468 I’d love a bordwalk a.m. stroll!

    garage door was in fact, closed.

  • I'm debating leaving work two hours early today.  I just always hate doing that.  But my personal to-do list is just tttooo long, plus I had a bad night sleep-wise, and I could really use the extra time.  It doesn't help that I have almost nothing to do today at work, so that just saps away all the motivation.

    More NOLA eating excitement, lol.  We just finished up Restaurant Week in June (usually it is in Sept.) and apparently now it is time for "Coolinary Month".  Usually it is the month of August, but they are expanding the timeframe from July 14th-Sept. 5th.  Yaasss!  Plus, creating my "target list" sounds like a good activity for my boring work day.

    For the proverbial cherry on top, the special 5% back bonus category this quarter for my Discover card is "restaurants"!!!  Which will also cover me for my NYC trip in mid-Sept.  Plus it's my first year with this card, so all my cash back will be doubled at the end of my card year.  I'm going to do some serious damage to this category, lol.

  • Fellow moms {and others, but this is mom guilt}
    I ordered clothes for BK and myself. More for myself, but a couple because I feel like BK may need certain things before end of summer.

    ANYWAYS!
    I feel guilty for ordering myself stuff. Entire order was 20% off, but urg ....

    Below is what I orders {black marks are my stuff}
  • That first skirt with those tops!  🔥

  • @MissKittyDanger, adults...especially hardworking moms and dads...deserve new clothes on occasion also!

    Cute stuff all around, for you and BK.  That straw hat will be over the top adorable on BK!

    Right!?
    I love me some leopard print and the tops seem pretty versatile :)
  • @mrsconn23 my brothers are also in their early 20s, though definitely closer to mid. Idk how my mom does it. It seems like the early 20s is harder than the teenage years (including myself in that too). Good luck helping guide him through.

    Ssdd here. DH and I are going to "go over the finances" this weekend so I have been getting caught up on our spreadsheet. It takes a while when you haven't looked at it in 6 months <eek>

    Our friends are still sick with covid. My friend has it the worst, poor thing.

    I did donate a ton of stuff. I've gained weight over covid so some things fit weird/different or not at all.
  • Yay for Thursday. I'm ready for the weekend already. I finally told my sister yesterday that I'm not going back home with her this weekend. I know she's disappointed, but whatever. I can't really take any more time off work until my project wraps in August, and I have no desire to try to work in the car while she drives and her kids fight in the back seat. Especially to turn around and drive 7 hours back on Sunday. I miss my cousins, though, so I'll probably make amends and go up in the fall.

    We had a guy come out to do our annual AC service yesterday. I knew these units were old (1995ish) and would need to be replaced soonish, but apparently they're in worse shape than I thought. Or maybe the guy was just being alarmist. Either way, we're probably going to end up replacing at some point this year. Blerg.

    Lurking and stopping in to say hello! We leave for Hawaii tomorrow. I dropped FSIL and her FI off at the airport this morning. Now the rest of the day is a mad rush of errands, cleaning, and last minute packing before we go.
    I knew you were going on vacation but didn't realize (or remember) that you are going to Hawaii!!!  That sounds so awesome and amazing!  I hope you all have a great time.
