Wedding Woes

Rainy Thursday

..at least here.  Not flood-the-basement like last week though, yay.  Back at work after Labor Day and Rosh Hashanah, and glad to be back.  Kind of SSDD otherwise.

Re: Rainy Thursday

  • Prek zoom was good.
I literally forgot how busy my next 2 weeks are when IL's where trying to find a time to swing by with a tshirt they got BK for first day lol

MIL: hey is there a good time to swing by before monday to give BK her shirt?

Me: uh ... we have zoom call tonight, tomorrow is groceries. Maybe Friday because SFIL is potentially coming to sign for mattress? If he doesn't need to, you can come Friday anyways after because that might be only time to see you before Monday.

    MIL: what about Saturday?

Me: BK is at my mum's. Mostly so we can get a few things done & safely have sushi sans tot.

M: oh. Yeh. Shit. Forgot how busy it was.

MIL: lmao! you weren't joking about busy!

    Me: I was not lol

Anyways, the zoom was really informative. They did zoom plus had a little chat to answer questions. I think I only have 2 questions left for tomorrow's intake call? One isn't really a question, just more statement about BK's allergies and snacks.

They're really good and big on play learn, plus big on helping. They were saying how it doesn't matter how the kid comes in potty wise, they'll help in all aspects {potty training, reducing accidents, wiping, etc} which is great because BK still had that poop curve that she's trying to learn.
She's fairly independent about knowing how to get dressed - M has been working with her about tags on clothes {because a lot of tops soon have no distinguished print on front} so that helps.
This is definitely first year we'll have to worry about snow pants in the morning - they often go straight outside after drop off.

Did I mention I have a tatt booked for Sept 27th?
I'm doing cardinal for my granny and butterfly for my nana.
My granny isn't doing well so I wanna get a tatt before anything happens.
They'll be small. Like forearm near my elbow area and beside each other.
  • Sunny & 70 degrees here today.  Perfect!

It's my Friday.  I'm leaving at 2 PM for a mani/pedi.  My nail person had to reschedule from Tuesday evening.  Tomorrow is our niece's wedding.  Ceremony is planned for outside and weather forecast looks great.

This weekend or next we need to go pick up a peony root we ordered from a local peony farm and get it in the ground.

Sunday is church, football and is also our nephew's 19th birthday.  We'll meet up with family at a local BBQ place and then have dessert at our house.  How did he get so old??

  • Somehow the fact that it is Thursday eluded me, but I'm happy to be surprised with Prudie!

We're going to the beach this weekend to visit SIL. SIL is ok, but four days of her is a lot. The weather isn't looking great either, so I'm having a hard time getting excited. I think I'm going to go to Target today on lunch to look for a cute something to try to get more excited about it. Nothing much else going on today.
  • @CharmedPam I've heard a lot of places in the states this is a thing. This is not through a school board so maybe that's why it's different?
BK is trained, but still has issues with potty poops - it's probably scary. But prek will also help us to be able to move the potty probably closer to the bathroom or in the bathroom because they don't have a potty readily available right in their play area.
  • I'm disappointed that the "tethering" our computers for Internet access from our cell phone carrier doesn't really work.  For those of you old enough to remember, it's like back in the days of "dial up modems".  I am not exaggerating, it really is that slow.  It's also too slow for a lot of website pages to even work at all.  Oh well.  We tried.

Not much else going on that isn't more Debbie Downer blech, lol.  Work is busy.  Looking forward to reading the Prudies.  That will be the highlight of my day, lol.

  • It has been raining like crazy here (one day out of three weeks at the beach isn't bad). I went to the fitness center this morning and drove through the deepest water ever coming home. I watched cars in front of me do it and I drive a small SUV. I figured if sedans could get through I could. Still it was scary. We aren't going anywhere unless it stops. We have reservations at our favorite restaurant but will cancel if necessary. H has started packing totes with stuff we don't need anymore here (kid's stuff). Tomorrow and the weekend are suppose to be nice. I will get laundry done Sunday and pack so we can leave really early Monday morning.
  • Mamas talk to me about mornings
    - when we night train BK, will she be more apt to pee in the morning? {she's still in diapers for sleep} She never pees before we leave but tbh she doesn't drink much either

    - breakfast - generally I want something fast. I'm going to try making some breakfast bars. What are some other quick and easy options?
We've done cereal bars, yogurt and pouches but I'm kinda hoping there's another idea for us to "grab and go" if necessary - also something M & I can have

Honestly, my experience is that night training is a myth.  Kiddos either hold it while sleeping or don't and if they're sound and don't wake up to pee then there's no amount of training the unconscious state.

Chiquita wore a pullup until she was 10 and change.  It's only in the last year that she stopped and she's had a couple accidents.

The focus we had while training was to understand the concept while awake.  By the tim she was day trained there were nearly zero accidents.   It was the same for Chiquito who wasn't day trained until he was 3.5.  It just took longer for him to stop wanting to crap his pants.

BK doesn't wake up at night so I'm just hesitant. She also still pees at night, but she's still napping so often waits until she HAS TO GO or diaper for sleep. :\

    But that makes sense.

Is she peeing regularly and on her own?  If she isn't then she's needing some more work to be day trained.

My kids sleep through the night and pee in their sleep.  Chiquito thinks his full pull up is just sweat.   He pees and doesn't wake up.   There's no amount of training to do for a young kiddo who is peeing while sleeping.  You can wake them up at midnight or 4 AM and the result will still be that there is going to be an accident at some point.  You're just training yourselves.

Oh if she has to pee, she'll 100% go but only if she has to.
Like she pees before daycare pickup {around 4:30} and sometimes she won't pee until middle of the night.
    We're trying to push more liquids to try and have her pee before bed {last night she peed mid-evening and had a much less wet diaper in the morning}
  • Yay, Judge Judy!  I have been a devotee of her show almost since it started.  But she left CBS and isn't making any new episodes.

I just saw her new show "Judy Justice" will be on some Amazon streaming service called IMDb TV, starting Nov. 1st.  She will have a new bailiff and her granddaughter will be a legal analyst for the show.  I wonder if "legal analyst" is a televised role and will be similar to what Harvey does on People's Court.  Or if it's something behind the scenes, that I then would not really care about, lol.
