Prudie Day

How's everyone's day going?  Kind of busy here.  Desperately need to make a Target run but holding off til Saturday morning.

Re: Prudie Day

  • It's a busy afternoon for the house.  Chiquita has soccer practice and Chiquito has his first den meeting.  DH picked up his shirt the other day and we're hoping he's excited to get into scouting.

It's SSDD for work and I need to try to get some low hanging fruit taken care of.

I also need to reach out to my brother.  He brought up the idea of a somewhat DW and I am trying to do my best to tell him that the idea is not going to work down to our parents not attending if he went in that direction.
  • I really need to meal plan for the next couple weeks.  We have a full pantry and freezer but nothing fresh so i need to organize myself.  G all of a sudden is eating everything, both quantity and new foods - so that's really exciting.  I think it is partly that he's around kids up to 3 years old in his new classroom.  He ate a bowl of cereal all by himself this morning, so he's basically a grownup.

Slow day at work so i'm excited to try to figure out a podcast situation and dive into some excel modeling (least fave part of my job).

I'm ordering chipotle for lunch - they gave me a free meal because they F'd up my order really badly a couple weeks ago.

Packing tonight and heading to Iowa after lunch tomorrow!  I'm very excited :)
  • Ugh, I feel like garbage. Possibly TMI but I just got my first period after Baby M and either I forgot how much this sucks or it’s worse after having a baby. I just want to lay down and sleep.

I’m negotiating offers and it’s super stressful. Someone bring me all the snacks.
  • Awww big boy G! @Casadena.  My brother’s oldest has NEVER been a good eater.  His second will eat anything (third just started solids).

Last night I got my annual microblade touch up.  The lady who does it is really good and charges the lowest in the area (although she went up in price this year). She was explaining how she came into work early that day to do a lip blushing, so I googled and now I’m like it IS a procedure I never knew I needed. It’s a lip tattoo for “subtle” fullness and color (nothing major)… she has a special going on for $300 and after researching found out THAT was also a good price.  All of her services are affordable actually.  I may even go back to waxing…
Anyway, blushing takes about 5 days to heal and that 5 days will be a bitch.  Blisters and swelling on the lips…. Plus, I read it may take 2 sessions? I’m a lip biter and lip presser, so I’m not sure I want the 5 days after it.  It lasts from anywhere to 3-4 years though.  I’m still debating and maybe do it the Wednesday before Tgiving so I go back to work Monday and it won’t be so bad…

Oh i'm so jealous - i got mine back the 2nd month after both boys (even with breastfeeding!!) Definitely worse after baby, so hopefully you feel better soon!!!!
  • Also, has anyone heard from @VarunaTT?  I know she's been going through some stuff and i haven't noticed her posting much the last couple weeks.  Hope everything is ok!

I was 5 mo PP for both kids.  It was not fun but I at least appreciated that I started to feel more "normal".

FWIW, as I age I find that it's not as bad as it used to be and I am not using as many products as I did back as a teen.

  • I've already been to the office and back this morning.  Had to get my computer fixed.  Meeting in a few with my boss about changes to our work processes.

Feeling rushed to get shit done since I spent the first 3.5 hours of my day fuzting with computer crap.

I will look over Prudie here soon.  As soon as I can feel settled.

I noticed this the last few days myself, but I was gone for over a week so thought I missed a post about a vacation or something? Hope all is well @VarunaTT

  • @Casadena, cracking up at "he's basically a grownup", so cute!  I've been wanting to try Chipolte's brisket that they have been advertising but, like pretty much everything else that's a national chain, NOLA doesn't have any Chipoltes.  I need to trek out to the suburbs for that, which I am rarely motivated enough to do.  What's in Iowa?

Ugh, too much going on the next couple days.  My H and I have our Costco scanning gig which starts today for this week.  Usually, he beats me there by a few hours, but he's not going to be able to do that today.  You all may or may not remember, but our rental that had the deadbeat tenant also had all the brand-new windows broken out by her b/f after they got into a fight.  It was almost 4 months for our window company (Window World) to get us new windows.  And then they didn't have two of them.  They are such f**k-ups, they couldn't even figure out if the original order was wrong or if those two windows got misplaced.  Either way, they don't have the windows and need to refabricate them.  They gave us a timeline of 2-12 weeks.  WTF?  You can't narrow it down more than that?  No, they can't.  Plus, it took many calls over multiple days even to get that info.

We cannot wait ANOTHER potential 3-4 months of having no rent over a GD window, so our new plan is my H is going to buy a window at Home Depot and just install that one himself.  He's doing that today, along with a few other things.  But when the entire situation is already so infuriating, it's just pissing us off even more that we need to waste about $400 buying a window that's only going to be temporary anyway.  The second window isn't as bad, so we're just waiting for WW on that one.  It's double-paned and only one of the panes is broken.  We can do a cheap fix for that in the meantime and it shouldn't affect our ability to rent it out (hopefully not).

That same duplex needs some roof patching and vent repair.  He and a buddy are also doing some of that today and tomorrow.  So my H will be late for the Costco scanning tomorrow also.  Fortunately, his buddy is our plumber and has a lot of experience for vent repair.  From what my H told me last night, most vents for a home are related to plumbing.  Unfortunately, neither of them have any experience with roofs.  But we have just been put into such a pickle!  The only roofing company we could get to come out and give us a quote won't be doing patch jobs until at least 6+ more months.  We have two roofs that need that, so my H and his buddy are going to do the work themselves.  Definitely not ideal.  On the bright side, it will save us a total of a few thousand dollars.  But we would still MUCH rather pay a company to do that kind of work.

Then I'm going to be busy today applying for a bigger percentage of lowering my property taxes on four of our properties, due to storm damage.  My H and I already spent a chunk of time last night getting our pics and invoices prepared and ready.

I am feeling pretty overwhelmed!  But it's okay.  I'll get through it.  Glad it's Prudie Day for a little much-needed distraction!

    My family!
  • I didn't get mine between having my oldest and conceiving the twins (which is why that second pregnancy was a bit of a surprise), then AF back returned about nine months after the twins were born.  I don't have the stomach cramps I had in my teens and 20s but since around 35 I have been getting this monster headache that Tylenol and Advil can't help.  My mother didn't go through menopause until her late 40s so I hope the headache doesn't get progressively worse with each year as it has been doing!

I'm told in my family it may be so late into my 40's it's in my 50's.     My mom had a rough time emotionally (although she denies it - she was INSANE) as she started to edge through it.  I'm hoping I'm a bit more in control and at least can tell my gyno to be on the lookout for a woman who is up at 2 AM ready to start a fight.

She's been on FB.  Still going through stuff, but she seems OK. <3  We message off and on.
    Glad she's okay <3
Thank you for updating. Next time you talk to her, make sure she knows we're thinking of her

I'm just the opposite!  The older I've become, the worst my periods and symptoms have become.

TMI.  Most of my adult life, I'd just has mild cramping on the first day that would quickly be knocked out by Advil and that was it.  I'd rarely even need to take a second dose.  But then in my 40s, the cramping went to 2-3 days and I need to be careful to take my next dose a little before the first one runs out.  Lower back pain and intestinal/poop problems also joined the party.  I also bleed more and for more days.

I've never had a child, so maybe that has something to do with it.  But I suspect it's more of a just "how it's worked out for me" thing.

  • I’m back at work today and pretty tired. I spent almost 20 hours at the hospital over the past two days. FFIL was discharged last night and FSIL took him home and will be over this morning. FI is going over in the afternoon. What a year.

I have no idea when menopause will hit for me. Both my mom and my grandma had hysterectomies in their late 20s or early 30s. I did find my first white hair last week which sent me into a crisis. I’m practically dead now. Lol. But for real, it made me really sad that now I’ll need to do hair touch ups on a regular basis instead of it being optional. My periods have never stopped being horrific and they even got worse, giving me my presumptive endometriosis diagnosis from the OB. The only thing that has helped has been my Mirena IUD.

  • Yay for Thursday. This week has been kind of a beast at work and I'm over it. Otherwise, SSDD.

@ei34, I need to make a Target run too. WFH has gotten me out of my normal trip every couple of weeks on the way home, and I'm really starting to miss it. I guess I've been wasting less money, but I miss all the pretty things!

@charlotte989875, good luck with the negotiations. FX for the right offer!
  • Working from home with DS for the next 8 work days. Got a call yesterday that he was part of contact tracing for a positive case at daycare. Not sure if it was a kid in his class, kid in the other room they combine with morning/pickup time, or a teacher. Took him for testing since he'd had a mild cough that morning and it was a disaster. No signage on where to go (it was a CVS and it said drive up testing which apparently meant go to pharmacy drive thru) and he wasn't cooperative so I'll be surprised if it even renders a result.
  • Phew!  I was busier at work than I expected, but I finally filed the last of my property tax appeals from Hurricane Ida damage.  Since I just spent a bunch of time picking out the "choice" pics, here is some destruction:

Personal home, large tree that fell across my whole yard:

    Overhead view from roof

This is the OTHER side of my yard!

This pic is after my H already cleared away a lot of the tree.  But, in the background, you can see the French doors that lead from our bedroom to the deck.  During the storm, we heard the tree fall.  I looked out the windows on that door and almost all I could see was branches and leaves.  It was pretty surreal!

The rental property that needs a new roof

A different rental property that had two trees fall down on it.  Messy!  Shockingly enough, the trees didn't do any damage to the property.

  • oh wow S+S!
  • @short+sassy That's crazy!  Wow, amazing how big those trees are!  Glad no one got hurt.
