@banana468 @missJeanLouise Good suggestion to have MIL come to us maybe on Christmas day.  We never don't want to see them around the holidays, she is just so inflexible and territorial about the ACTUAL holiday. H and I have said from the beginning of our marriage that we are going to take every holiday individually and not do strict rotations or alternating.  It often ends up that way, but we just dont want to set the expectation.

It's also such a stark contrast to my parents attitude about it that it sets me off more than it should.  My parents could care less when we celebrate.  We will do it when it's convenient and it will be great, if it happens to be the "real' holiday day then cool.  If it's a week later, cool.
I think it’s also ok to say “MIL, please stop making passive aggressive comments about us coming here Christmas Day. We will be here Christmas Eve and we can’t wait! We will be in our own home Christmas Day and I’d like you to respect that.”

I just have people being entitled about the holidays. It is a blessing if you are able to see family for them, not a right.
  • I had to do other's people work for them today because they just weren't getting around to it and I needed an answer.  But there's always the possibility that they won't be grateful but will feel like I stepped on their toes.  So I tried to play nice in my email when I sent their task back to them and cc'd my boss.  I'm tired of people not doing their damn job, but at the same time I know everyone is swamped so I can empathize as to why they haven't done their damn job ... it just makes my job harder, and I don't have time for all of this.

I was going to take a mental health day yesterday, but wasn't feeling too bad when I woke up so worked anyways.  And seeing as basically all of management were either sick or had also been thinking of calling in ... probably good idea that I showed up.  I'm going to take a bunch of time off around the holidays.
