    We think BK has a cold. She was with SFIL today and M ended up picking her up early because she was refusing thermometer from SFIL, and although she's running around she ended up spiking fever.

    So fever alone, M is taking BK to hospital out of concern. They'll probably covid test her, which is fine. Hopefully she's okay :(
    After my weekend ask to test for flu.
    Idk if we actually have a flu test ... tbh if anywhere has it, it would be at hospital {which is where M took her}
    Not really familiar with that test
    Really?? My kids can go to the pediatrician and they run a nasal swab to see if the kid has the flu.  It's a rapid test with results in office.
    Strep test yes. Flu has never been a thing. Idk if it's my area or Canada though
    I'd ask.  At least here you have the option of taking Tamiflu if you test positive for the flu and that is administered if you are immunocompromised.

    Our pedi advised not giving it because it shortens the duration by maybe a day and it can make kids sick.  It did exactly that to Chiquita when she had the flu 2 years ago.
    Yah tamiflu is not a thing here, that part I know. I've heard that being suggested by Americans before lol

    A quick google search tells me that isn't correct.  You can get Tamiflu in Canada if it's fully covered by your insurance.

    https://www.pocketpills.com/drug/tamiflu

    https://www.docguide.com/tamiflu-pill-influenza-available-canada

    Based on this link, it's possible to get a flu test at least in Toronto: https://www.toronto.ca/community-people/health-wellness-care/diseases-medications-vaccines/influenza-flu-fact-sheet/

    With your kid getting older and likely to interact with others I'd continue ask.  Then you're able to identify if she has a cold vs. something that puts older relatives at higher risk for hospitalization and death.
