Evoke Photography?

Has anyone used Evoke? How did they do for you? Their prices feel too good to be true compared to others I've looked at. I was hoping for a little bit more quirky style, but for 1/3 the price I am tempted to use them.

I would be really interested to know too which photographers would be good to request from them, and if they were good at making you feel comfortable. My fiance and I are both kind of nerdy/socially awkward and I'm afraid we're both going to freeze up during our e-session and not get good pictures because of that if we're not comfortable with the photographer...

Re: Evoke Photography?

  • Evoke is a "team" of photographers..and i have no idea if you can pick one you'd rather have or not...i met with them at the bridal extravaganza before my wedding 3 years ago...and yeah, the prices were attractive, but i didnt like not knowing who my photographer was going to be. If you're concerned about being comfortable...  keep looking. You can find a decent photographer in the same price range, that will match your style and put you at ease.  And spending even a tad more, just for that ease of mind, will also be worth it, if needed.        Just by the sounds of it.... look into http://mustardseedphoto.com/

I've never met those ladies, but i follow the blog - and they just seem like they'd be able to help you relax.      Key thing is going to be setting up meetings and making sure hit it off before you even schedule a session.

  • I don't know anything about them, but here is an old post with a lot of comments about them.

I know you didn't ask, but I'm going to suggest you check out Darla Guyton - www.guytonphotography.com - great photographer and very good rates.

  • Thanks, I have found a few other people I'm looking at since I posted this. I have seen a lot of people talking about Mustard Seed, but their prices are DOUBLE what I'm looking to spend... if I was willing to spend that much I wouldn't need to post about it, lol!

I used them for my wedding 2 years ago.  They do match you with a photographer based on what your style, etc. We got to meet with him and talk to him to make sure we clicked.  They told us we could change photographers if we wanted to after that initial meeting. We were more than pleased with our wedding photogpraher.  I think they have one or two people they use for engagements and bridals so you might not have the same person for engagemens that you do for your actual wedding unless you request that.  We didn't do engagements with them as my brother-in-law is a semi-professional out of state and wanted to do them for us.  Evoke was super easy to work with.  Our pictures are wonderful.  The book they did is fabulous - they put it together and then we got to help make revisions before it was printed. If you have more questions, let me know.

I would also recommend Shawa Edoo photography. I am on a tight budget, and her prices are very reasonable! She was willing to work with my budget, which was a huge plus.
  • I went to the Bridal Extravaganza this July 2012 it was at least ten different photographers there. I love Lindsay Elizabeth Photography but she was a little pricey
