Unique, non-traditional shower ideas

Hi. Planning a bridal shower and the brides to be would like to do a non-traditional shower. A couple of ideas are to do a wine tasting at a winery or host a casino night. Anyone else have suggestions of what we could do? TIA!

Non-traditional can be fun but expensive.  You really should not be asking guests to spend money at a bridal shower, so a casino night could be a slippery slope.  The hostess(es) of a shower incur the costs, not the guests.  Wine tasting can be fun, as could a painting party, Pinstripes bowling, or anything else that lends itself to the guests you plan on inviting.  Keep in mind that in any public venue, you will need to plan for the safety and security of the gifts being brought to the event as well.  It's one thing to remain in one private room at a restaurant, and another when circling gambling tables..
  • Thanks - to be clear this would not be at a casino, but rather renting tables for fun play at a private venue. Playing for prizes, not gambling guest's money.

Clearly OP didn't say AT a casino. Pretty judgmental to assume they would be expecting the guests to incur costs.

OP - the casino night sounds fun....much better (and less wasteful) than toilet paper mummy games!

How about a scavenger hunt or cooking/baking class?

Thankfully, the OP realized that perhaps she needed to clarify and was gracious in doing so.
It is NOT judgmental to remind someone that may be hosting a shower or marrying for the first time of the etiquette involved in wedding planning.  The primary focus of The Knot is to gain information and insight from those who have "gone before".  There have, in fact, been posts suggesting hosts can charge guests to attend showers at a restaurant.
