Matron of Honor Speeches

I am getting married in 2 months and I asked my mom to be my matron of honor and I am having a hard time wriiting her matron of honor speech. Do you brides have any idea how I should word my mom's matron of honor speech. My father passed away 2 years ago. My fiancé and I decided to get married on their 29th anniversary. So anything special? I will be walking myself down the aisle to my groom to be.

YOU SHOULD NOT BE WRITING THIS!

If your mother wants to give a toast, it should be something she offers to do, and something she writes herself. If she's uncomfortable writing something or speaking in public, she shouldn't feel pressured to say anything at all. Telling her she needs to speak and writing it for her is wildly overbearing.

  • She should be writing her own speech. Why would you be writing it for her??

Are you asking how to word a speech where you'll be thanking your mom for being MOH?  Or are you asking how to word a speech your mom is giving?

If it's how you'd word a speech thanking your mom I think you can just be yourself and heartfelt.

If you're trying to write a speech that your mother would give please don't.  Your mom can choose to give a speech and that would be her own wording.

  • This is YOUR speech honoring your mother as MOH, correct? Just thank her for raising you, give one or two anecdotes of how she supported you, and then raise your glass to toast her. You don't have to be eloquent, just kind and brief.

But if you're writing her speech honoring YOU, you're off the hook. That's on her.
