Wedding Woes

Friday

We had new tenant move-in yesterday, that went well.  We have a different new tenant moving in today, though I'm not sure what time my H is meeting here.  A small downside is Thursday and Friday are our "Costco scanning days".  My H already got behind what he usually scans on Thursday and might have more difficulty again today, depending on when she wants to move in.  He often takes care of finishing up on Friday, but I'm jumping in today when I get off work, to help get it done.

I just got a Facebook message from someone who apparently missed the showing we had last Friday, wondering if it was still available.  I've already set the rental ad  to "Sold".  I let her know it was not.  But dang.  She's contacting me an entire week later?  You can't dilly dally like that in this rental market.   When I set it to Sold on Monday, that did cause a few people who'd already been contacted back to suddenly jump up and ask if it was too late to see it.  And a couple people who had already seen it, but hadn't turned in an application, if it was too late for their application.

Restaurant month in NOLA started on Monday!  I need to put together my "hit list", but we will definitely be taking advantage of a restaurant or two this weekend.  I got new slide orthopedic sandals from Amazon.  But don't let orthopedic fool you, they are still cute or at least I think so, lol.  They were 50% off and only $20.  They are SO comfortable.  I'm wearing them today, especially for al the heavy standing/walking I do for my Costco scan gig.  These:

Overall, it feels like a good day and my weekend should be fun and relaxing also.

  • @charlotte989875 sounds fun!  Happy Birthday to baby M!
@short+sassy glad you guys got tenants moved in and hope you can get your Costco gig finished quickly!

WFH today and hoping to mow the lawn at lunchtime (H and i compete to mow the lawn, it's both of our favorite chores)! My parents are coming to visit sometime in the next couple weeks and i'm excited to see them.  It's been a few months bc of my dad's hip replacement but he's recovering nicely and feels good about making the trip - and i know he really misses the boys.

No plans for the weekend, just hanging around home.
  • Happy Birthday Baby M! I feel like 2 is such a milestone, for child and parents.

Nothing going on here. DH is out with a friend who is moving so it is just me and the kiddos tonight.
I have some studying to do this weekend and would love to take DS to the water park if his eye is looking better by then. Hopefully he'll be able to return to school next week.
  • Hubby is out LARPing, so I won't have that black cloud over my head this weekend.  I have to get working more on the kitchen reno, it starts on Tuesday.  I still have a few cupboards to clear out, then I have to take the trim off the ceiling, move the fridge, and see if I can do some removal of the base cabinets.  And I was going to go to a department store to take a look at flooring, since there is only one flooring that is apparently acceptable for our aesthetic.  I was okay with the look of some of the vinyl click, but I don't like how they are designed.  They just seem .... cheap to me.  I know they are cheap, but I'd rather have something that is actually fixed to the floor.
And I still have a cabinet to sand and stain .... just a lot to do.

Oh and @charlotte989875 I can't find the post aka I'm too lazy to go to probably one prior page lol but I'd be in for Monday Knot Football if there's still room in the league
  • @charlotte989875 I stand by baby M being an infant.
BK gets her shot next week!

Not a lot on the docket this weekend.
Tomorrow M & I are touring a gym. He's considering joining now, where as I want to join next year when my finances are better.
They also have a "playroom" for kids, so we wanna be sure it's BK friendly - safety & allergy wise.

M is planning to see a friend of his afterwards. Apparently his buddy isn't in a great spot and M has been wanting to meet up with him for a bit.
I asked M to start working on our backyard before we go out - it's going to likely take full weekend and I borrowed my mum's hedge clippers.

Sunday no idea. Likely not much tbh. M will likely finish or get more yard done. I need to vacuum too and I think I should probably clean the bathrooms :\
  • Happy Birthday M!
@short+sassy happy tenet move in day(s).  Glad its cleared up!

i was supposed to wfh but our remote servers are down so I quickly showered and came in.  I stayed till 7:30 yesterday for the I.T. guy too.  And apparently he has to come back to do more work! It ruined my plans and now I’m not heading to my P’s till tomorrow since i’m in the office now.

Also, two years ago I found out my travel agent left so I used a new guy.  I booked four cruises with the former agent. I always put $200/room down for non refundable deposits. The new one talked me into a refundable deposit of $900 (x2 actually since I got 2 rooms). I called yesterday to see if I could cancel and he told me that it’s not refundable and the refundable ones were $1,050.  I know I was lied to. I know if I was told to put down an extra $150/room I would have.  I called the crusie ship but they couldn’t get to my reservation but when I asked about that amount he said $900 does sound like a refundable amount.
my confirmation says “most deposits are not refundable” but that’s it.  But I remember our convo and I remember him talking me into the refundable deposit and then yesterday he told me that was $150 more.  So if “most deposits aren’t” why did he tell me about the option that is?

any advise? What to do? Go to his supervisor?

@short+sassy thanks for sharing the sandals link, I have on and off plantar fasciitis, when it's bad it's bad!  Summer tends to be a non-flair up time of year for me because there are a lot of sandals on the market that are insanely supportive but also look nice for day-to-day...during the school year it's a) harder to find stylish work-appropriate shoes and b) my job involves being on my feet at least 7 hours a day.  So even though I have some good summer sandals I always appreciate more lol

@Casadena I'm glad you'll see your parents this weekend!
@charlotte989875 I knew he was almost two bc you and my sister were pandemic pregnancy warriors due around the same time...but, wow.  The days go slow but the years go fast.  Immediate family parties are honestly my fave, hope all enjoy, especially sweet M
@missJeanLouise I hope that DS's eyes begin to clear up soon.

I had a weird moment of no longer caring whether or not stbxh gets arrested.  I'm not going to call the precinct to follow up, and it's not crossed my mind today until typing it now. (Just wanted to give an update.)  I feel like I should go to Bed Bath & Beyond for one of those cliche "live and let live" signs.

If you pull the trigger on those sandals, make sure to check the little "50% off" box.  I got the brown ones and am planning to get them in another color, now that I know I like them.

I meant to mention this the other day.  I have heard that police can choose to arrest someone, even if the other person doesn't want to press charges.  But they usually don't.  Or, even if that person gets arrested, the DA usually drops the case if the aggrieved party isn't going to cooperate.

Unfortunately, I had an almost front row seat to that.  We had tenants (Jack and Jill) who used to live next door to us.  The would have screaming fights and the guy would sometimes hit his wife.  We never witnessed or even heard the physical abuse, just the screaming.  Usually they kept it inside but, one Saturday afternoon, they were screaming at each other on the front sidewalk (always charming).  Our neighbor called the police.  I'm not sure if the neighbor saw him hit her or if Jill told the police that he did, but he was arrested on domestic violence charges and taken to jail.  The wife was begging them not to take him.

So "usually" the DA drops charges when the aggrieved party of most crimes wants to drop charges.  But, in this case, they didn't.  It wasn't some trial with a jury or anything, I think he waived a jury trial, but he did have to see a judge.  Jill was in the courtroom also, begging the judge to drop the case and wouldn't testify against Jack.  I'm not sure if Jack took a plea deal or if the judge just found him guilty, but Jack was sentenced to a few weeks in jail.  Jill came home ranting about what an AH the judge was.

  • @CharmedPam Talk to the supervisor.  Someone at TD bank tried to do this to us once, and they expected us to let it drop.  No way - they shouldn't be able to get away with lying to customers.  Go to the supervisor with the date that you talked to the agent, the steps you have taken since then, and why this is unacceptable.  They should honour it.  It isn't about getting the guy in trouble, it is about managing how agents act towards customers.

  • I am basically just breathing air at work and not much else.  I'm exhausted, my stomach is not liking lunch, my period starts in a few days, and my patience is non-existent.

There is an attorney here who keeps being...overally friendly to me.  Now, I don't think there's a malicious intent behind it, but I also know some of his work history before here and he's...a thoughtless misogynist?  Just things he says/does that aren't inherently dangerous feeling, but for me, are pushing up against boundaries.  Well, he's pissed me off a few times making judgments about things I enjoy (usually anything scifi/fantasy).  L and I were watching the 1st episode of The Sandman at lunch and this attorney stopped in to ask what we were watching.  I paused it, told him to keep walking b/c I was tired of him judging things I enjoyed, he protested he had never done that, I said you've done it multiple times, this is my lunch and my office, please keep walking.  He said, are you serious?  I said, Yes.  He finally walked off.  I'm irrationally angry about it and I know it's b/c he already annoys me and I have no patience right now.  Like, I do not want to be your friend, I don't want you in my office, we have one case together that I will work professionally on and I have no desire to ever speak with you outside of those parameters.

Otherwise, I'm just hunkering down this weekend.  A friend might come over to have a girl's night of doing nails, she'll drink wine and I've got some fancy mocktails I enjoy, and just chill.  I also feel like I want to game a bit, so I might just play FF7 reboot all weekend and not think about anything.  I pick up my home sleep study on Tuesday, so hopefully we'll get some treatment for this moving as well.
  • We are at DD's for the weekend. She and SIL went to the Elton John concert tonight so we have the boys. They all went down to sleep with no trouble at all - I know DD won't believe it because she said they have been having trouble lately.

My heel is killing me. I need to go to the podiatrist and get a cortisone shot. It hurts like hell when I stand up. It feels a little better if a walk around a bit but it is getting worse. I wear birkenstocks around the house all the time and custom orthotics in my athletic shoe along with supportive sandals if I'm out and about. That usually takes care of any foot problem I have but it isn't working now. It sucks getting old.

Tomorrow we are going to the boys' swim lessons to watch. SIL will get in with the one year old (his first lesson). The twins have been going for a little bit so I'm looking forward to seeing what they have learned.
