Dreary Monday

We're on hour 28 of an ever-present drizzle.  Monday weather.  Saturday was a mix of work/errands/downtime and yesterday was sad but quality family time.  Hope everyone else had happy moments and that this week flies for all of us!

Ugh same but also warm? It’s gross. We had a good weekend. Another trip to the zoo and a lot of playground time and walks through town. Quiet but nice!
  • So it started with allergies but quickly turned to a cold for BK. She was home friday, and we stayed lowkey all weekend.
M got hit and this is a quick, fast, hard cold.

All covid negative and BK is better to go to school today.

I wish I could teach BK to cough up stuff because it'd be so much easier. Right now she just vomits up phlegm - which we now know usually means it's end of cold.

My allergies are awful and I'm headed for a sinus infection if it doesn't start to clear.
  • My weekend went well.  Nothing major happened, other than the Saints had a miraculous victory in the final 19 seconds of the game.

But, ugh, this morning has been really frustrating for a lot of reasons.

I am annoyed with Zelle/Chase and a new tenant.  This was her first month paying rent, other than her move-in.  Her due date is the 5th, which we let her pick because she said that sometimes the way her paychecks fell, they don't come until a few days into the month.

So, this month, her due date was Labor Day.  Okay, hopefully she'll pay on the 6th.  When she still hadn't contacted us or paid by Thursday, my H contacted her and gave her the payment options (they are also in her lease).  She chose to make a deposit at my bank.  Okay, great.  We give her the account number.  All day Thursday and Friday go by.  No payment.  My H contacts her around mid-day Friday asking for the rent status (AGAIN), with a reminder that if it isn't paid on Friday, a late fee will be incurred on Saturday.  She doesn't get back to him until Friday evening.  Then she asks if we take Zelle.  Yes.  And we also took it TWO DAYS AGO  when we first asked her about the overdue rent.  Whatever.  So, while he is on the phone with her, I get a text message that a payment from her is "processing".

So, that's weird.  I have other tenants who pay me via Zelle but, once they send the payment, it almost immediately hits my bank account.  I've never had a payment notification show as "processing" instead of "ready now".

I give it 24 hours. Still not in my bank account. I call Zelle. They say I need to call Chase (the bank account it's going to).  Chase tells me that, sometimes payments sent on the weekend, take extra time to go through (I've never had that happen but, whatever).  But they do see the payment pending and have okayed it on their end.  He said he can't guarantee when it will hit my account, but it should be later that day (Saturday).

I cut to the chase and told him the next business day is Monday.  Can I expect this payment NO LATER THAN Tuesday morning?  Oh, yes.  It should come this weekend but, if you don't have it by Tuesday, give us a call.  Of course, it's still not in my account, smh.  it's just pissing me off more for a situation I was already pissed off about.

    ------------------

Then I come to work and nightmares from last week are still haunting me.  Which I knew they would be, oh but it's even worse than I thought.  We are on our client's network.  They recently changed things up and now require employees to use Microsoft Authenticator to be verified with and have access to a few different things, like Teams.

Oh, so simple!  Here's a video and step-by-step instructions.  It only takes a few minutes.

Except it doesn't work AT ALL.  For a whole bunch of people, including myself.  The cut-off was last Friday and I've been trying since Wednesday to get it resolved.  I spent 30 minutes with our in-house IT person.  Then another 30 minutes with the Help Desk.  To no avail.  So now I'm locked out of Teams and a couple other things.  Fortunately, I can still access my work e-mail and the network files.  My help desk ticket was "escalated" to a "special" team.  Now I need to wait for them to contact me.

And just for a few more juicy layers.  You have to use a cell phone to use MS Authenticator.  Except my job does not provide me with a cell phone.  So I'm having to use my personal phone for all of this bs.  Our work phone lines were changed a few months ago to only work over Teams.  So now I'm blocked from people being able to call me on my work phone also.  Which is problematic because the very people who need to help me...the Help Desk...need to be able to call me on my work phone.  SO RIDICULOUS.

My only saving grace is they tried to take my physical work phone when they switched things over and I asked them not to.  I prefer it and can still make phone calls out.  OMG, thank goodness they didn't take it!  They can't call me on my cell phone, because it's my cell phone I need to be working on for when I can get them on the phone.

So now, I need to wait for the "special team's" e-mail that they tried to contact me.  And then call them back.

It's just unbelievable how poorly all of this was rolled out.

  • Hey everyone!  First day back at work after a week off, though I did go online to check emails yesterday.  Really don't want to be at work - instead of feeling refreshed after a week off, I still feel burned out.  People didn't pick up the slack when I was gone, and I'm just not having it today.
The week off was lovely, the cottage we went to was very nice and we did a lot of hiking and kayaking.  My cousin wants to buy a kayak now.  I've been wanting to buy one for a while, but I don't think I will because logistically I can't make it work.  The main place I would go is a river, and then you have to have multiple vehicles and figure out how to make that all work ... it's too much of a headache for a hobby.  I'll stick with my bike that I can throw in the back when I want to go somewhere different.

  • We got home last night from vacation. I could've stayed another week with just H and I so we could relax without anyone else around! I will say it was glorious being in our shower this morning though. The rental's shower was tiny! My foot is still hurting like crazy. I didn't wear my boot much at the beach but did cut down on activity while there. I don't have another appointment with the doctor until later this month because of more travel. I have also been having a lot of leg and foot cramps. My internist told me to take magnesium which I do but it doesn't seem to help. Oh the glories of growing old!

I need to go to Sephora today to look for some travel sized toiletries. For my trip to Vancouver I'm not checking luggage because I have flight changes and don't want to lose my bag. I'm still freaking out about a flight being canceled while I'm en route.

It is pretty nice here today. Cooler and no rain. We drove through some downpours yesterday on our way home.

Another good place is walmart.  They have a travel section too.  Vancouver (B.C right?) will be beautiful!
@short+sassy, yeah I’ve sent payments on the weekends and those were all automatic too.  Seems like they said that to get you off the phone!
@kerbohl, sounds like an amazing trip.  I love my inflatable kyak, they’re only like $65 now on amazon and great for travel!
    @Casadena, hope you’re 100% soon too

  • I called Chase again and got more of an explanation.  Her bank is a non-Chase bank and they are the ones holding up the transfer.  He said it can take 1-2 business days for a Zelle transfer, when it is a different bank.  He did verify that Friday was the 1st business day and now today is the 2nd business day.  I guess I'll be more patient and hope it's there by tomorrow.

These were travel size for makeup and hair stuff that I can't get at Walmart. I'm tired of Sephora's in store stock. I ended up going to Ulta (right across the street) and could've gotten everything there if I'd gone there first. I will order on line but won't go into the store anymore if I need something from Sephora. Yes Vancouver BC. I've never been there and am looking forward to it. This is a college girls' trip.
  • @CharmedPam What's the name of it?  I'll look it up.  Could a rottweiler sized dog fit in my lap on it without it popping?  I'm flirting with training her to kayak with me, but it will probably end horribly.  She's a cuddler, so she would be wrapped around me while I'm trying to paddle.

  • This!

they’re pretty tough but I bet any dog would puncture it

  • Today is a bit rough, but I'm making it.  It's mostly work related, I just can't seem to get caught up and sitting where I like.  Just have a lot of work and one of me.

Otherwise, SSDD.  I really didn't do much this weekend, which was good.  I seemed to have slept solidly and I do feel refreshed.  Did lunch with my mother yesterday which was okay; she's really not thinking clearly at this time and arguments are almost always lingering in the background if I'm not really paying attention to my words, tone, and body language.  Which is stressful AF.  I also did some yoga and it did feel nice.  My goal is to do yoga every other day this week and wake up every day this week at 6:30.  I'm trying to be realistic, honest, and give myself some grace, and also some pushing.  We'll see how it goes.

Also, my new favorite mental health saying that seems to be resonating with me:  old keys don't open new doors.
  • @kerbohl most of the outfitters here (all rivers) will still take a personal kayak for drop off and pick up, you just still have to pay.  It's annoying, but realistically, that's their biggest expense as well.  I have been wanting to buy one as well, but storage is an issue for me and honestly, I usually go through an outiftter for the camping part b/c I like to camp and get on the river early, so it doesn't really save me any money.  But I get the one I really like (I like the 10 and 12 foot kayaks the best and a lot of the outfitter have the 8 foot).
  • Was there a weekend??  Holy no time Batman.

Friday started a camping weekend for Chiquita.  I shuttled her to and from soccer and then to the campsite at the beach and stayed with the girls til 9.  Saturday Chiquito had a soccer game in the morning and once I ate lunch I ran errands and joined Chiquita back on the beach with her troop, picked up dinner and hung out again with the moms until 9.  Sunday I got up at 7 to get her and on my way to the shower I got a text that our church cantor had Covid.  I picked up Chiquita and got her home for a shower (side note - SO MUCH SAND ON HER) and we were at the church to practice so I could learn music to be ready an hour later.

Sunday afternoon was a shower for the fiancée of DH's cousin and a normal 1 hr 15 min drive was a full 1.45 hours.  Things I DO NOT miss about the weekend traffic heading back to NY!  Shower was lovely, got to see the family and then came home to DH looking at me wondering "Well...what do YOU want to do for dinner?!"  I love the man but he needs a prodding.  He did fix stuff of Chiquito's in the afternoon but sometimes misses the entire concept that if I'm gone for the afternoon I want him to do my job just like the garbage somehow manages to get taken out when he's not here.

Finally got the kids to bed and we are now 2 episodes from finishing Severance.
  • Long day. Full of interviews, which is good but can really make me feel drained at the end.

There is a kayak rental on the river by my house.  I was really thinking of trying the out with my mom.
