What to do when the MOG has passed away, and the relationship with step mom isnt there...

My Fiancee's mother passed away 2 years ago. He has a step mom, but there is no motherly relationship with her and he does not feel comfortable doing a mother son dance with her. He is very close with his 2 sisters, and would rather do a dance with the two of them, but is worried about hurting his step mother's feelings. What do we do??

He could just omit an assigned dance altogether or he could do a dance with the sisters using a song that's an appropriate brother/sister relationship.

There is zero obligation for your FI to dance with her.  She may feel the same way, actually.  

I would skip it altogether.  Rather than have two “spotlight” dances with his sisters, I would recommend they decide on an upbeat song that has meaning for them and use that to start the reception off.

I would just omit a spotlight dance for him and his stepmother. It's not required. If he wants to do a special dance with someone other than you, he could do it with his sisters.
