HUMP DAY!

My interview was rescheduled to 5:00 pm today.  The person giving it texted me with apologies, he was stuck in a doctor's appointment.  So, keep the purple vibes going!  I also took a personality and cognitive test for 2 more jobs.  I hadn't taken the "predictive index" test before, but I came out a "specialist" and the general description seems to fit.  I did have to laugh about the "can be curt with communication" b/c I've had complaints/comments about that before and I've tried to soften my approach.   I just have a very direct mode of thinking and it comes out too direct aka blunt for some people.

Otherwise, SSDD.  It's Legal Marijuana Day in MO, and there was one other local thing that went down in flames that I was happy about, but other wise, same shit show here re: elections.  Dems did come darn close though and that felt good.  Makes me feel like MO is going to start looking more purple than red.

Our polling place was packed yesterday. Showed up at 5:30pm and the line was wrapped around the building. Figured we'd come back after 7. We still waited in line for an hour. But happy with most of the outcomes from last night! Well at least for NY. 

Unfortunately the leak in the kitchen is worse than we thought, and I think we're going to have to replace the floor in the kitchen. Not the end of the world, as it's laminate that the previous owners put in, but not an expense we were expecting, and definitely not one I want to have to deal with before Xmas.

The school board candidates that I wanted did end up winning.  The state rep I was hoping for lost (fuck gerrymandering).   The rest is just the way the wind blows here.  I'm trying not to monitor election results too much for the major undecided ones since it will just make me anxious. 

DH did wait in line for 2.5 hours to vote after work.  That is bonkers.

@VarunaTT, on the sub-Reddit I mentioned the other day, a couple people mentioned they had moved to KC because they thought it was a blue dot in a red state.  But were disappointed that it wasn't as "blue" as they were led to believe. Yay legalizing marijuana.  Perhaps there's hope for at least becoming purple in time.

My H and I had a great meeting with our potential realtor yesterday!  It was a long visit, which I felt a little bad about.  But they didn't seem to be trying to escape, lol.  Turns out she works with her H, he's a realtor also, so he was there also.  They seemed to know their stuff and we all had a good rapport.  She sells over 250 houses/year and is one of the top 10 ReMax realtors in the state.  Impressive!

Although we aren't looking to sell our own house until at least January-February of next year, they met us at our house so we took them through it to get their feedback on which projects we should/shouldn't do.  They took a few bigs ones off our plate!!!!  Yes! Specifically, the floors.

They said we shouldn't bother putting hardwood floors in our master bedroom.  Even though the current linoleum flooring is hideous.  And, even if we can't get perfect matching tiles for our kitchen floor, if we just get something close enough for the broken tiles that will be good enough.  Since it's a duplex, more than likely it will be an investor buying it, and they're primarily only concerned with major systems (true).  Not so much the cosmetics.  They said it's better to take some money off the price for a flooring allowance...if that's even requested...than spending the time we don't really have to do it.

In summary, it's better to get our personal home listed sooner rather than later because prices are dropping, than it is to try and wring every penny out by getting the house perfect.

The main thing is to fix the walls.  There's about three bad spots.  And fix/paint the large wall where we installed French doors to the backyard.  Clear out our clutter.  Get the house deep cleaned.  Believe you me, those jobs are big enough!

I forgot to ask her about painting the addition, so it matches the rest of the house.  I feel like she'll tell us not to worry about that either.  Fingers crossed!

Good luck @VarunaTT!  Sorry to hear about the unexpected expense @climbingsingle...feels like it's always something!  Boo to all the long voting waits!  My poll site changed (was not notified and thankfully didn't miss a piece of mail because many others around me were also told to go to a new location) but it was less than ten minutes at my former site and less than five at my new one.

Leaving work early to take DS to the orthopedist.  

Ridiculous WW poll- I noticed last night that one of my stbx-SILs kind of unfriended me on Instagram.  Well, she still follows me and can see what I post, but I no longer follow her. I didn't unfollow so it must've been her.  Answering my own question here, but I don't care whether she follows me or not...but I don't want to appear petty and remove her. Wwyd?

Is there anything you post you don’t want her to see and/ or share with STBX? It seems weird that she still follows you but has forced you to unfollow her. If it were me I’d probably cut ties with her but it depends on how you’re planning to maintain a relationship with her moving forward.

I applied for a new job on a whim. There’s some shady shot happening in my team and I kind of just want out. I love my job but there are things in the environment I’m not okay with and I’m not sure I’m willing to stick it out and see what happens. 

The job is probably a long shot but it would be a step up and a big pay increase.

Good luck!  Though I'm sorry to hear there's shady enough stuff happening in your job that you want to leave.  I know you like what you do and have usually been happy in your job.

I have a "close friends" group in stories, none of my ILs are part of that group but not a diss to any of them, bc only 25-30ish people are in the close friends circle anyway.  Nothing too secretive being posted using that setting, I just use it if I'm actively posting a location the kids and I are currently in.  I post to general stories a few times per month, and make posts pretty infrequently, maybe once every other month or so?  Nothing I'd have a problem with her seeing though.
To the bolded- hm.  I've enjoyed a friendly and pleasant if not super close relationship with stbxh's immediate family this past decade+.  I'm definitely closer to his father and sisters than he is (he hates his family, but it's not a reflection on them as he also hates my family, his friends, his former coworkers, etc.).  When we gathered it was thanks to me.  SIL in question told me years ago that if I filed for divorce she'd be on my side.  She went into major "he made his own bed, he's on his own" mode when the FIL and other SIL offered him to move in with them temporarily.   But I know that she's extremely "anti-snitch", anti-involving the police, etc.  So I wonder if my visiting the precinct and him getting arrested and me receiving an order of protection pissed her off.  Wish I could see when exactly the unfriending occurred.  I was planning on bringing both of his sisters cookie trays the weekend before Christmas and for the kids' sake I'd like to maintain a cordial relationship.

I just got a call from the realtor I met with last night.  She already spoke to one of her RE investors and he might be interested in some of the properties I have!  Talk about impressive. 

She said he is leaving in a week to go out of town for 10 days.  I told her that, while I realize the professional photos wouldn't be ready yet, I can get it arranged for him to see the properties he is interested in before he leaves.  And, if not, at least he'll only be gone a short while and he could see them when he gets back.  She said he would be a cash buyer.

Her and her H are going to drive past all the properties today and get back to myself and him.

That’s awkward @ei34. If you’re worried about rocking the boat with exh or creating drama is there a way you can add her to a circle on Instagram that doesn’t get all of your posts?

Most of the election in my state is pretty much as expected and as good as I could have hoped for. Every election I feel so anxious that we could flip red. 

I just had an annoying encounter with a staff member at work I’ve never seen before. I haven’t felt super well lately so I’ve been wearing my scrubs for the comfort, which is fine. Most providers wear business casual usually but you can wear the scrubs and most of the providers in my department do wear scrubs because it’s a higher risk area with more infectious disease exposure. As a provider I have an assigned parking spot in a designated area. So I walk into work and this woman starts questioning me on my parking! I clarified that I was a provider and she kept on questioning me. So annoying.

I have a foot out the door to enjoy a half day today.  I originally was supposed to have my annual gyno but now I'm going to use the time to clean.

I feel like I got a lot done yesterday. Cleaned out my fridge and pantry of expired foods, let the air out of my hottub and packed it up and blew the leaves to the boulevard.  However, they’re not quite there and I can only do them in increments (battery lasts 10 minutes only).  I had no idea how sweaty I get doing that and this morning I got dressed for work and blew some more to the boulevard on one battery life.  I want to go home to do another round - but I’m waiting on my UPS delivery to time both at once.  But it’s already 1!
and also, I’m pretty sure I smell.

I think I got it, you guys.  He told me he'd email me in a few days with the official offer.  He asked for a reference and I gave one.  When I left the interview, I called my old firm to give that boss a headsup and the interviewer was already on hold to be transferred ot that old boss.

Chiquita and I are headed to a talk with breast cancer survivors that is organized by her GS troop leader.

Can I just say that I LOVE her GS leader and the single best decision my kid made in the last 18 months was choosing to join Girl Scouts?
