Wedding Woes

Monday

Morning!  I hope everyone had a good weekend.  I slept like a log and according to my watch, i'm actually getting healthy sleep!  Whoot!  I definitely am starting to feel better.  Hopefully I've turned a corner with this stupid Lexapro withdrawal.  My problem now is just that I don't want to get out of bed at all.  Not b/c I'm sleeping, but b/c I like my bed.  I get to start WFH on Wednesdays though, so maybe that'll help.

I had my hair done and it looks so much better.  I just did a few shades darker than my natural shade, put in red highlights, and got it shaped while I'm growing it out.  I was able to do 2nd day curls, which made me REALLY happy.  Otherwise, I just gamed all weekend, cleaned my apartment, and basically puttered around.

Re: Monday

  • Morning!

Weekend went very well.  We had Chiquita's birthday celebration with friends at Sugar Factory which is a place with really expensive milkshakes and ice cream sundaes and cocktails.  She had two friends and LOVED it.   It's the kind of place I cannot justify unless it's a party and quite frankly if I ever go there with the kids I'll arrange for one sundae and 4 spoons.  My mimosa was $23!  But it was a party and the kid was happy.  We hit the outlets after and she came home with some new clothes which were great (also note to self -smelled weed ALL OVER!)

One of her friends and the friend's mom hung out after and we chatted and had dinner.  It was a great time.

Sunday was church followed by taking down all the Christmas decorations.  I hate crawling in the attic but the stuff is packed away and my St. Patrick's and Easter are poised and at the ready!

Today the kids are off and I'm WFH.  I'm hoping it's a good catch up day.

  • @banana468, there is a Sugar Factory (SF) in one of the casinos in Gulfport, MS.  During the pandemic, I was able to grab a gig job for the casino a few times where I audited their safety practices.  I was required to eat at the SF for either lunch or breakfast.  Plus I had to shop in their candy store.  None of that broke my heart, lol.  I couldn't order alcohol for my official compliance meal.  But I would sometimes order one of their ridiculously decadent shakes.  It put me over my reimbursement, but at least half of it was still covered.

I was always tempted to go back in the evening "on my own time" and get one of their boozy milkshakes.  But yikes, yeah.  Their prices are crazy high.

Today has really turned into a cluster.  I forgot my cell at home which normally wouldn't be that big of a deal.  But our drywall job starts today.  We already pre-emptively asked these people if they wanted a deposit ahead of time and how much and how did they want to be paid, etc.  They said not to worry about it.

Now they show up today and want us to "Venmo" them $500.  WTF?  Why are they assuming I use Venmo?  I don't (eyeroll).  So now we need to pay them cash or a check.  Which is fine if they would have told us that last week.  So now my H has to go running around all over the place to get them money, because he is already at the job site.  Because God forbid any of these handypeople take a frickin credit card, even for a large job.  If I had my phone with me, I could have given my H the ATM card.  Still a hassle, but at least my work is a shorter distance to where he is.  But no, it's in one of the pockets of my cell phone cover, which is at our house.  All of this stupidity is going to waste about two hours of his time.

  • Today has felt like a "hit the ground running" type.

M is dealing with nasal drip, and in turn he's go irritated throat and irritated stomach.
    He did covid test, and negative {he felt like this when he did have covid}

I gave him a list of stuff to do that would help him - I get this regularly.

Anyways, Saturday was my errand day. Grocery pick up, donation drop off and I was hoping to get my brows waxed but the place I usually go to is different? So I really didn't want to go in an look.
There's another place by my mum's place I use to go that I'll probably see if they have an opening this weekend.

BK and M did a puzzle. It's definitely over her age range so it took an hour and half to get it fully done {with 2 meltdowns out of frustration} but she wanted to power through.

Sunday M & I went to the gym. My shoulder area is sore, but I feel like those muscles are usually sore. It's from the bar push ups I did, so maybe that's good?
BK went to the play area. She loved it :)

After the gym we did Subway for M & I {BK isn't big on their food}, back to Once Upon a Child for money and remaining items pick up, then we said since she used her listening ears at play area at the gym we'd get her a cake pop from Starbucks lol

Got home, made BK lunch while she snacked on cake pop, then M & I ate
I considered doing cleaning but felt really tired, so opted to just throw on a movie and chill.
M felt sick so he lay down a bit.

BK really likes "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" series - so we watched 2nd lol
Idk what it is .... M also likes it
    {his fave joke is "there's a leak in the boat!" and it's a leak lmao}

I made a ham, and roasted potatoes. BK is weird with meat and potatoes, but she had a fair amount of ham and a couple of potatoes cut up. So I call it a win.
Definitely not enough to fill her, so we got her a granola bar and pudding after.
  • @climbingsingle, I'm glad your new job is going so well!  I bet it was great having a couple weeks off to decompress and start fresh.  Though would have been even better if you had not broken your ankle, yikes!  I hope it's smooth healing.  A beach wedding sounds great!  Do you all have a particular area in mind?  There are so many great beaches to choose from.

2022 turned out to be such a great year job-wise for the people on this forum!

I think we're going to do Ocean City MD. We loved it there last year. I did find a planner down there that not only sets up the ceremony but a dinner reception too. I have a call scheduled with her later this week.

  • @short+sassy it's absolutely INSANE for their cocktails and dessert prices.  Their meals are high but I'll call them "casino high" but the sweets and drinks are absurd and the only way IMO the gets get treated there is for a birthday or something SUPER special.   Because of her her birthday fell and she's older it just made sense to do it as two friends.

Next year she turns 13 so I have to plan something fun.

@climbingsingle I'm sorry you're off to a broken bone start but glad the new job is going well!
  • Things my child says:

    Bell rings.
Tacher: Let's go BK, it's time to go inside!
BK: I'm tired and have little legs!

Teachers think she's hilarious. She's just lacking filter.
