Wedding Woes

Snowy Tuesday

Well, it finally happened, we got snow. Only around 4” but it was still very exciting for the kids. Got up a bit earlier than usual to shovel and clean off the car and I’m now reminded of back and shoulder muscles I’d forgotten I had lol.  Thankfully no delayed openings, we’re all at school now (schools here need at least 6” to consider closing so that was never a question, but I was worried about a delayed opening throwing off the morning).
Hope everyone is safe and well!

Re: Snowy Tuesday

  • Is that a yay or nay @ei34….Kids like it, but do you?  I’m a nay on snow. We’re getting ours Friday, but the temps look high still, so not sure if it’ll stick.
i’ve been feeling so blah lately.  It’s hard to get up and workout and do what I have to do and enjoy the day. It’s not the gloomy weather, I could care less about that.  My damn shoulder hurts and my back is acting up again. It is a wfh day for our company, but since I have laser hair treatment around the corner from here, I came in so the “lunch break” will be shorter.  ‘Cept all I hear is complaining from annoying coworker about how hard she works and how she can’t take it anymore - and honestly it’s not helping my mood. I’ve never met anyone who complains more than her.
I also switched from coffee to the herbalife refresher teas.  For taste.  There’s 95 mg of caffine in coffee and 85 mg in a packet of this herbalife. Is that a big difference? I also never measured my coffee… i think I had 8 oz… but maybe it was 10-12?

  • @ei34, schools down here close if we get .06" of snow, lol.  Glad there wasn't a delayed opening for you all.

The showing went well yesterday.  I guess it wasn't the buyer who was there, but their agent.  The buyer has narrowed down their choice to two properties and mine is one of them.  They are coming into town tomorrow to view both and will then make a decision (crossing fingers).  This is my worst performing property, ROI-wise, and has a longtime tenant that is a hassle to deal with.  I cannot wait for the closing day on this one, lol.  But first, I need to get it under contract!

I had a fun night, last night.  I received a February offer from a casino I don't go to very often.  It was $100 slot play and $40 in food.  I turned my slot play into $65 cash and got dinner for myself and my H, PLUS a third meal that is lunch for me today.  They have a walk-up counter, so $40 goes far.  My lunch is a blackened shrimp poboy, which is an impressive item for such a casual place to have and I'm looking forward to it!

  • We have no school today and I can't help but think that it's because they wanted to give the kids a day.  It's NOT that bad and the blacktops are cleared.  That said, the kids are happy for the day off and it's pretty so I'm grateful that it still happens here!

weather is just kinda weird this week - I'm not ready for warmer temps yet, i still have sweaters i need to wear from after Christmas sales, and UGH humidity. Definitely a snow lover, I hate that it was gone so fast last weekend and i'm excited to get more on Friday!

Forcing myself to go to a yoga class at noon - i know i always feel better when i go, it's just been more appealing lately to order food and sit at my computer for an hour instead. I'll be happy once i'm there. And i really need to get some weight off. Exercise is huge for me, i can't do it just with eating changes.

Our niece's 1st birthday party is Sunday and I'm such a scrooge, i'm already pre-annoyed about it. There will be like 60 people there and i know i've said it before, but i just don't get huge things like this for a baby. Also, my IL's have been driving me nuts lately and i'll have to see them. Sorry for the whining.
I've never heard the word "pre-annoyed", but I like it!  It describes my mood about a lot of things, lol.

  • We got snow but surprisingly the buses weren't canceled?
Fully expected them to be so had to make BK's lunch last min.

Since it's shit weather, I told M I'd take BK to school so I can have jeep. Yay snow mode!
Anyways I'm just tired today. I was anxious and restless trying to fall asleep last night. I found even with meds, sometimes only fix is eating. I'm not even hungry but a little snack helps.
Then BK woke up 2x - I don't remember why first time, but 2nd was a nightmare.

We finally got rid of a couple things and debts are nearly gone. This weekend I have to go pick up a gift for a bday party BK is going to this weekend.
I may ask the mom if the kid is into anything - MLP, Bluey, Peppa, etc. I know rough idea what I'm going to do, and she said it's not necessary but still would be weird lol

Those with kids - is this a typical thing? I mean I know I was going to say gifts aren't necessary for BK's party but it seems most people are too.

Did the invite say no gifts? I would not do a gift if we got one that way. The few kid birthday parties we've been to they haven't opened gifts at the party anyway - maybe that will change as the kids get older?
  • It's actually nice weather here.  Decent sunshine and temperature.

I had a friend come over last night and help me take pictures of the clothes that I have for the boudoir shot  that I now need to send to the photographer.  Then we went out for some drinks and conversation, which was nice.  I really do have an amazing support system of people who basically were like, "I knew something was wrong, I could tell you wanted/needed space, so I just said happy birthday and waited."  It made me feel pretty good about myself, that I've been able to surround myself with such amazing people. I pick up my Lexapro today and honestly, I'm really looking forward to it taking the edge off.  Hopefully it gets back in my system quickly.

I'm just ready for this weekend already.  :D
  • @MissKittyDanger I've seen some parents ask for $ towards a membership to a local place at younger ages.  With some people just feeling like they're bursting at the seams with toys that can be a rather common feeling but it still rubs me the wrong way.

  • @Casadena not directly - when I asked what the kid was into, they said arts but gifts are not necessary

@banana468 oh it's definitely not a toy! Kid is into art stuff so I was going to buy a small Colour Wonder item that's in maybe a thing that's liked since there's a lot of options.
Personally I love colour wonder because it's mess free lol
  • I’m just… exhausted. Work is kicking my ass, I have another cold/virus (not Covid), and I’m just over it. I want to sleep and rest and I have no energy for the stupid deadline I’m under.
  • It's not snowing here but later in the week we seem to be due for the bad weather that's rolling in from the West Coast. Meanwhile, I had a mammogram last week and am waiting for the results. It should be just routine though. I am plugging away at tax work that just keeps piling up. At least my own taxes are done. Whew.

I feel the same way about first birthdays. I have one coming up that will be huge and I just don’t need to spend time socializing with my friend’s sister’s in-laws who will be most of the guest. Plus I know the father from work tangentially- we don’t work together but I know his office, and they invited all but one of the workers which just I think is inviting drama into your life. But I do like them and they’re having it at a super fancy venue with an open bar and a nice meal so I’ll be there.
  • I feel sort of differently about a 1st birthday but will agree that I'm not a fan of largely over the top.

But we went larger for our kids two first birthdays.  The reality for me is that I don't love the newborn phase.  I love my babies but at the early phase I'm exhausted, up around the clock, nothing gets cleaned, I eat with one hand and hold a baby in the other and go through the motions.

That first birthday is the reward that we made it AND we feel like ourselves so those who may not have met the kiddo can come over and do it.  Never had a party in a venue w/ an open bar  but our house is never dry so it's a fun afternoon to play and hang out and see a kid paint themself with frosting.

As the kids get older and the parties are more friend focused the parties don't have the friends of the parents.
  • I've never been to a first birthday that wasn't my child, grandchild or godchild. I don't get the over the top kind of thing. Now, if we had a big family it would be different in that we would go to nieces and nephews but that isn't the case.
  • I love a party and any excuse to get all my friend's together. As new parents you don't get to go to many parties, unless they are child friendly. A kids birthday party is a great excuse to throw the child friendly party you wish you were invited to. 🙂
  • For BK I did a bday party but it was just family. We did over do decor but it was just so fun.

    But as @banana468 said - it felt like a reward to M & I
I also didn't like newborn phase and it was really hard for even until she was nearly 2 there was a lot of up in the middle of the night deals.

Same.  I didn't really sleep through the night for both kids until they were over 2 but at least by 1 I had measurable hours.

Some 1 yo birthdays are over the top but I remember for Chiquito who has a summer birthday it was a picnic that involved a diapered kid eating a blue cupcake. I think he even napped through some of it.
