Wedding Woes

Dreary Friday

What a grey and yucky day today. I slept HARD last night and slept in a little this morning bc i accidentally took a night-time sinus pill instead of the regular. Mom is still here playing with the boys.

Our Iowa women basketball team plays at 8 tonight so we'll be watching that after babies are asleep! Excited for popcorn and hopefully a glass of wine if my sinuses allow.

What's everyone up to this weekend?

Re: Dreary Friday

  • UCONN men tomorrow night!!

Tonight we have the last fish fry at church and tomorrow is GS cookie pick up.  The weather is supposed to SUUUUCK and I've volunteered our EZ up to reduce the grossness.

Sunday we have a lunch with MIL's cousin and her family.  I have a Colomba DH picked up so hopefully that goes over nicely with the group as they're apparently traditional in Italy and MIL's family is Italian.

We're finally booked for vacation so now I am trying to figure out the plans without going overboard.
  • It's sunny here today but we're getting a full day of rain tomorrow. Ugh.

No plans for tonight except for drinking wine and catching up on my shows. Tomorrow I have to go find a dress for my work party next weekend, and then get my taxes done. Sunday I'll probably get my nails done and then do stuff around the house. That's it.
  • Dreary here too. Bad storms are supposed to come so I don’t know if I should cancel my IPL now - or see what we really get? Seems silly to risk my life for a laser treatment.
Yesterday’s game night was fun as always.  I need more of those.  And the lady who runs them gets a good turnout. 12-14 usually rsvp yes and 8 show.  Lol.  But 8 is still good.  Also, the chocolate pb costco pie getting good reviews WAS in stock so I brought it. Very good! But very rich. I ate too much of it, and my stomach hurt all night. But I needed to try it, and many ladies took a slice before someone took the entire thing home with her. I told them to.  It’s gargantuan and I just wanted to taste it to see the hype and could not would not take it home with me.

    Fun @banana468! Where ya headed?

M got 75% of new cabinet built. Unfortunately, we both were having a rough night, so things ended lol
    M got scratched by the drill {he moved to get something, not realizing how close the drill was and it scratched his back}
    While I made dinner, I was heating something up - went to poke it so I could separate still frozen stuff, there was an air pocket. Popped, burnt my finger {not terribly}
Pulled out cibatta buns for M & I - mouldy.
M used wrong screws for cabinet - has to redo part of it.

It was just a series of events that in one shot, is fine but all that was in less than an hour.
M & I felt very much done lol

Tomorrow BK has gymnastics and a bday party.
We'll see how Sunday goes. I feel BK may need a rest day.
  • Dreary and rainy and I’m still sick. I’m supposed to go to a wedding shower tomorrow but since I still have symptoms I’m going to pass. Even though I’m better and it’s not Covid I feel bad spreading any germs to people. Silver lining of the pandemic I think people (at least me) are more likely to stay home now when sick (which we probably should have been doing all along).

H is supposed to go fishing this weekend, although he said he’d stay since I’m sick. M was going to MILs while I went to the shower, and I’ll probably still send him although there’s huge guilt of having someone watch him when I’m skipping out on the thing I was supposed to be doing. Am I alone in feeling this way??
  • @CharmedPam we're going to Universal Studios and may do a day at Epcot.

The kids are going to be SUPER excited for all things Harry Potter and DH is also going to feel like a kid going through all the Simpsons stuff.
  • It's grey and has stormed on and off all morning.  I need to get my least favorite thing done work-wise and am avoiding it.  I need to just buckle down and do it, ugh.  I have no excuse not to get it done.

SSDD here mostly.  We're at the end of DefConn's spring break.

We don't have much planned this weekend, thankfully.  DH and I are itching to hike, but it depends on how much rain we get today.
  • Weather is typical here; getting hotter, dusty. I didn't die riding my bike yesterday! But the city planner (or lack there of) of this city should be fired. I live in a newly constructed building in a part of town that has been built on only since we have been here. It is right along the water so they built several islands, creating a canal between them and the main land. All around all the islands and along both sides of the canal is a beautiful, wide path, but! they didn't put any ramps connecting the islands to each other or the other side of the canal. There are bridges but they only have (non operational) elevators and stairs. It blows my mind.

DS didn't want to stay at camp today so he stayed home again but there was no fight or anything. I think he is just a home body. I will continue to encourage small camps as get gets older just to try things but I am not going to force him to go if he doesn't like it.
  • Weather is yucky. At least it isn't cold yet, that comes this weekend. I have an impromptu lunch with some friends today. Cleaning house this weekend to prepare for next week when DS2 and DD with her family will be here for Easter. April is busy for us. GS3's birthday is the same as H's, mine is 3 days before and our anniversary 2 days after. Then H has a trip to his alma mater - I will be staying home. We leave for SC when he returns from that board meeting. April will be gone before we know it. I'm looking forward to 2 chill weeks in SC.
  • There's a spot of light on the horizon.  The buyer said they would overlook the condition of the roof :open_mouth: .  But wanted to know if I would fix other problems that could come up on the inspection.  Uhhh...maybe.  But probably not major ones, unless they were eminently needed and I don't know of any of those.

My agent and I are waiting to hear back if the buyer still wants to proceed with the PA.  Their offer is $4K less than my list price, which already took the condition of the house into consideration, which I'm okay with.  But knowing I'd need to replace the roof for most buyers, which I'm not willing to do for another year or so, does go a long way for me to take care of other issues that might come up in an inspection.

I'll be spending my weekend crossing my fingers that the buyer wants to proceed to inspection and that the inspection looks good!

FWIW, one of the units recently passed a Section 8 inspection.  That agency is pretty picky and there are a lot of similarities between that kind of inspection and a home inspection, but they aren't the same.  S8 checks that major systems are working and there aren't any unsafe conditions with them.  But a home inspection looks at major systems more closely and evaluates problems that could arise in the near future.

For me, it's timesheets.  Which are due today.  I kept telling myself yesterday to just get it done, so that Friday would be a totally cake day.  But I procrastinated and didn't even start.

I have 45 minutes before I'm off work and I'm finally about to start doing them because if I procrastinate any further, it will be on "my" time, lol.

"I should just take 5-10 minutes at the end of each day to fill them out."  What I've been telling myself for the last 10 years, lol.

  • My concentration at work has been crud and I need to get it under control.  However, today doesn't seem like it's going to be the day.

I think I'm staying home tomorrow and gaming all day.  I've always been told I should play Portal and it's pretty cheap on Steam, so I might give it a try.  And I started a new WoW character that I'm enjoying.  Plus have a book to finish up.  Sunday I'm going to usher/see Hedda Gabbler with a friend.  It's not my very favorite Ibsen play, but it's up there.  It's also a black woman in the lead and I'm interested to see if that changes my perceptions on the character at all (I don't think it will, but we'll see).
  • Glad to hear your dad is okay! @ei34 providing meals for your sister will be super helpful for her.

I’m getting a migraine which is not ideal in hour 2 of my 13 hour shift. Hoping it shakes off. I called my grandparents today and grandpa is sick with a cold. I’m hoping it stays there and he recovers quickly and doesn’t get grandma sick too.

They start on our roof tomorrow. On Sunday my parents are coming over. I told my mom we are going to brunch and she’s leaving my dad at our house with H. I think she could use a little fun and time out without him in a positive environment (basically anywhere she has gone since October has either been with him, for his meds, or for her parents or the shenanigans my brother has pulled). So I’m getting us an Uber when they arrive so we can go to a tasty brunch spot and have a few fun cocktails (one of them is called the Betty White and it comes with a sparkler). I hope it helps.

Otherwise work today, taxes (…yayyy) when I get home, and hiking this weekend. H starts school again on Monday and I can already tell he’s going to be a joy the next ten weeks lol.

  • Is anyone watching Ted Lasso??
  • Is anyone watching Ted Lasso??
    YES!  I love it!
  • Is anyone watching Ted Lasso??
We are almost done with second season and it’s so good. We’re going to have post show depression when we don’t have any more to watch. It’s nice at least we get to be let down easy with the current season still releasing though. Lol.

  • Is anyone watching Ted Lasso??
Yes, I haven't watched this week's yet.  We're probably going to watch tonight, along with last night's Top Chef.  As much as I love Ted Lasso, I'm OK with this being the last season.  I enjoy when shows can bow out on top.

I've also started Shrinking (it's on AppleTV+ and from the same producers of Lasso) and it's excellent.  We might also watch a couple episodes of that tonight.

As long as the power stays on...it's supposed to get nasty tonight.
  • Is anyone watching Alaska Daily?  On ABC (?) with Hillary Swank.  It's excellent!  The season finale was on last night so we'll watch it this weekend.

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE Shrinking.  I laugh out loud watching it and think it's been one of the best I've seen.
  • So glad the weekend is here! Work has been rough this week. We're also supposed to get shit weather tomorrow, so I think I have to adult tonight and cut the grass tonight. We haven't done it yet this year and it is getting a little dire. Maybe rally for a late dinner out or just get take out. Either way, there is absolutely some wine in my future.

I'm probably working a bit tomorrow and then going to a game tomorrow night. Sunday I will be on my ass catching up on two weeks of Ted Lasso and Top Chef.
  • I don't have any weekends until after April 18. So, more work.
