Wedding Woes

Sweets?

What are you favorite sweet treats?  I've got a small sweet tooth (I usually prefer savory/salty) and I'm kind of struggling with what I want.

The Dove dark chocolate can hit the spot; it is just getting so expensive.  I also like the Haribo snakes b/c of the sweet and sour, but I feel like the "gummy" part is hard on my teeth.  So, just looking for some suggestions.

Re: Sweets?

  • Dove chocolate with caramel, I am a sucker for getting froyo. Also sometimes just a little vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce hits the spot.

  • Ice cream is my downfall.  So the ninja creami has been amazing so far, allowing low sugar options.

  • I love candy so much it is amazing I wasn't kidnapped as a child.

I am a sweets person over chocolates but will eat all forms of sugar if that is what is available.
I cycle through jolly rancher, gummi dinosaurs, those little gummies that look like blackberries, and peanut M&Ms. I love snagging some seasonal and promotional treats to fill in the gaps. ;)
  • Cadbury mini eggs
I LOVE these too.  I've already been through a bag.

They're 'meh' for me. But that's because I am not a chocolate person. Do I love them? Yes. Do I think they are better than anything else? No.

Now, Cadbury creme eggs.  NO, NOPE, NO THANK YOU, DO NOT LIKE.  I think they are also polarizing.

I look forward to day after Easter every year for the minis.

I thought that’s what we were talking about.  Cadbury creme mini eggs? Lol
edit; come to think of it, not much of a candy person.  Give me chocolate all day every day though

  • I'm a candy person through and through.  I typically have Haribos and dark chocolate around at all times.  I don't eat them every day or anything, but I like to have a stash.

I love Starburst jelly beans, reese's cups, Albanese gummys, saltwater taffy, peanut and peanut butter M&M's, trader joe's dark chocolate coconut almonds.  And I could keep going, LOL.  The list of candy I don't like is much shorter.

Major sweet tooth but baked goods are my downfall.  Brownies followed by homemade cookies are my top favorites, with, oh, cake, donuts, cannolis, crumb cake, pies, cinnamon rolls, lemon squares etc as tied for third place.  Lol.

Ice cream is my second favorite sweet.  Candy is a distant third.  That said, I understand its convenience and keep packets of dark chocolate covered almonds in my bag (brand is orchard valley).
  • Peanut butter M&Ms, cinnamon bears, Cadbury mini eggs.  I'm not a huge chocolate fan but have to get those little eggs in season.

  • We buy the Symphony chocolate bars w/ toffee in bulk. Well, not really. But each shopping trip we get maybe 10 bars.

I also will forever love the Ferreros and Lindt chocolate filled ball things.

For candy, I love Skittles, Starbursts and jelly beans.
  • Starburst, sour patch kids, skittles, gummy sharks. Basically all the gummy candy.
  • Not a huge sweets person but i can never resist dark chocolate peanut butter combos. Trader joes has good ones, Justin's brand peanut butter cups, etc. YUM.
  • How could I forget about Reesessss

    also Toblerone.

    I do like skittles.

If you don’t mind baking, but you also don’t have a lot of energy, the Ghirardelli Triple Chocolate Brownie mix takes like 45 seconds to make (egg, 1/3 cup water, 1/3 cup canola oil, mix) and it’s fantastic. I like to leave it slightly underdone and then have it with ice cream.

  • I forgot about Reese's too!

I also love Cadbury creme eggs. Now I'm going to have to go get some this weekend.
  • Caramilk eggs.

If you want something more savory, I find something along the lines with salt on top. Like a salted caramel

Also BK isn't huge on sweet treats so we do hollow chocolate that way she has some per day.
  • Well, this weekend I'll be eating Girl Scout cookies.  In our house we're partial to Thin Mints, Tagalongs and Samoas.

In my closet is Easter candy that was delivered yesterday from a local chocolate company.  I do love a square of dark chocolate but also dig the combo of textures like chocolate and caramel or chocolate and peanut butter.

And a chocolate chip cookie is just GOOD.  Go grown up and brown the butter and you are elevating your flavor.  Bake a cast iron chocolate chip cookie and you have something that you could even write on with icing that's celebration worthy.

Chiquita is partial to the chocolate croissant and while her brother likes a chocolate donut she's favored that choice as her Sunday snack for a while.
  • I'm a sweet/salty person. Right now, I'm obsessed with the costco trail mix that has peanut and regular M&Ms in it.

But also, dark chocolate. I love the flat squares (giardelli maybe?) that have caramel or raspberry filing in them.
  • I'm a chocolate fan too! I can down a bag of Cadbury mini eggs in no time. DON'T like the creme eggs though. Ice cream is my favorite sweet which is why we only buy in small portions because I have no self control. I love baked goods too and am a pretty good baker. Again, I don't bake because I'll eat them all! My FIL could make a toblerone bar last forever - one piece per day! Not me.
  • I'll be the boring person, lol.  I've never had much of a sweet tooth, so it is satisfied by what most people don't consider dessert.  A bowl of cereal.  Flavored yogurt or apple sauce.  Sugar-free Cool Whip with sliced strawberries.  Sugar-free soda or energy drink.

My one exception to that is beverages.  I love juices (as long as they are 100%), mocktails, and cocktails.

But if you are looking for something with a bit of savory, I find desserts made with cream cheese...bonus points for sour cream...can sometimes have that taste.  This is a quick and easy dessert. Dip strawberries in sour cream and then brown sugar.  It's a great sweet/sour experience.

Oh no. Creme eggs are vile. I’m talking about the chocolate solid ones with a candy coating.
