Snowy Monday

I was so freaking hot Thursday to Saturday. Went up to 81 over the weekend. And now? 33 and snowing!
My parents came in for our family friends’ funeral and we worked on my bathroom.  Things are just more open and less cluttered.  I have a functioning towel rod and toilet paper holder now (the previous owners had a stupid design) and taps that should be easier to clean. I love it! However, we also found out a pipe burst in my wall.  So that has to be looked at when I do my bedroom remodel. I did a lot this weekend.  I’m exhausted. Not used to this manual labor stuff.
Edit for pic.  I guess my “before” posted last.  But I hope it didn’t need explaining lol

  • The bathroom looks great!

This weather has been so wacky. We were almost in the 90s last week. Very humid Saturday with thunderstorms. And now it's still raining and 52. But thankfully no snow here.

Had a nice and relaxing weekend. Got a lot done around the house. N is down at his survivalist school this week so it's just me and the animals. Miss him already but it's nice to have the house to myself, I can't lie!

Quick, watch all the shows N would hate! lol

Hahahah...that's what I'm doing! Already caught up on all my Bravo shows, and now I need to finish Love is Blind.

We had a pretty good weekend. We hiked on Saturday in a new spot and managed to see a snake, a bobcat, and we got to pet some wild donkeys which was pretty cool. Then we hung out with SIL and her H and celebrated a promotion for her. Sunday we went to lunch with MIL/FIL and just relaxed the rest of the day. Today I have a work project which I have been putting off for awhile and now I’m at the wire and have to complete it.

    Otherwise, SSDD.

  • Weather was beautiful - hot but great.
BK slept at my mum's so M & I had dinner and I took a nap lol

I wasn't sure if I had pink eye, so I skipped the gym on Sunday. I've been using the drops and it's helped. Idk if it is or some sort of irritation, but at least it's helping.

Picked up BK and we did a surprise trip to Toys R Us :) Wanted to get a certain thing but it was sold out, so she got a couple other things.
Then she napped and I watched "We Can be Heros" - which yes has Pedro Pascal but it's fairly minimal and it's like a follow up to Shark Boy & Lava Girl lmao
    It's a cute movie.
  • @CharmedPam, the bathroom looks phenomenal!  I love the little bats that match the shower curtain.

My H and I had an impromptu staycation.  I had a free room stay at Boomtown Casino, so we stayed there Sat. night.  It's in a suburb city.  Plus $100 in slot play and $40 in food.  It was a nice hotel!

They had a guitarist in their restaurant bar for Happy Hour.  Also for HH, some of their appetizers were half off and they had $4 cocktails.  It was a nice way to spend about 90 minutes.  Then we went to a different restaurant (Vietnamese) for dinner and I used my $40 food offer there.  Then it was time for some gambling.  That was NOT a successful endeavor, despite my $100 slot play offer, lol.

We were going to get brunch the next morning at the same restaurant that we went to for the HH.  But they didn't open until 10am and we were ready to leave around 9am.  So we went to IHOP instead.  Not quite as fancy, but still fun to go out for breakfast.

Snow!  Wow.  It's significantly cooler here compared to late last week but definitely not snowing.  Bathroom looks terrific @CharmedPam
My kids like that movie too @MissKittyDanger.  I hadn't seen the original but enjoyed it enough when I watched it with them.  I watched it a couple years ago and didn't know who Pedro was.  Still don't really, just know I keep seeing memes (videos? reels?) of him in a car with some guy and the captions that go with his ecstatic facial expression always make me chuckle.

Back in the grind (spring break is over).  Glad to be back though, and ready for the fourth quarter (that's not an analogy for glad the school year is winding down lol, today is the first day of the 4thQ).  Busy-ish week after work all week, but nothing out of the ordinary.
  • No snow here either.  It's almost spring like and maybe we'll actually get one this year?  Last few years it's gone from winter/rain/cold to your skin is on fire pretty quickly.

I did nothing all weekend and it was glorious.  I slept a lot.  I'd be a little worried, but I had my allergy shot on Friday and I was like 3-4 weeks overdue, so I think it was my body responding to that.  Otherwise, just regular house stuff.

I was supposed to go to a vinyl listening party tonight, but I canceled.  However, everyone else is still going, so if I get finished with what i need to (I HAVE to cook the chicken in the fridge), I'll head on over if I still have energy.
  • I sold GS cookies Friday night and Sunday.  The weather was great Friday night but the weekend made CT look like the Pacific NW.  Saturday I was the sub cantor for the two vigil masses and then eased into Sunday selling cookies followed by groceries.  I don't feel like I got a lot done for anyone other than Girl Scouts.

I had serious cases of insomnia Fri and Sat night and am grateful that I was back to normal last night.

The clip you see is from "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent" lol They're high in that scene but the movie is pretty good.

I watched because of Pedro >.>
    {reference - he's in 2 of the biggest shows, Mandolorian and Last of Us and just ddaaayyymmm lol but he's been in a lot before and people are just realizing it}
  • Phew, I just got done with a big project.

    Now my rant:

I was feeling salty about it anyway.  I already had a document with extremely detailed instructions on what I do for the Steel department.  They wanted me to add dozens of screen shots to it.  Very excessive.  Dumb stuff like I have written out Click on the button that says "Push Here", and then they want a screen shot of the Push Here button.

My snarky comment (in my own mind).  If someone needs a screenshot of a "Push Here" button, you made a grave error in your hiring.  That's a generic example.  But I write the exact phrases that are literally on the various buttons and menu choices.

They keep saying the reason they want this document updated with the screenshots is so if someone new "helps me with steel", they want them to be up and running with these instructions.  Bullshit.  They want to be able to replace me, if my company won't let me WFH once I move to FL.

It's also insulting because what I do is way too complicated to be covered in a "how to manual". It's really helpful to use, to train people. Hence, why I wrote it years ago. But it's a tool used in conjunction with training. It can't replace it.

It's two engineers who have been going through my manual and asking questions and asked for the screen shots.  But neither one of them has ever come over to sit with me, while I show them how to do a steel package.

I'd like to think that's an exercise in seeing how complete the manual is, without anyone showing them what they heck they are doing first.  But I suspect it's the usual hubris that they think it's so easy they can read the book I wrote.  And now it's a picture book, too.

They also had the audacity to tell me they are looking at how they can make the steel process more efficient.  That's not just referring to me, but still.  Oh, gentlemen, PLEASE DO!  I will be absolutely enthralled to learn all the ways you can make what I do more efficient.  Especially considering you have no f**king idea how to do what I do.

For the cherry on top, I replied back to their e-mail that I had finished adding all of the screen shots they requested.  They originally sent me the file as a link.  I updated the document where it was located on the network.

One of them immediately replied back that I forgot the attachment.  No, AH.  I don't forget attachments.  You all didn't send me an attachment.  It's the same link, so we can keep it "live".  I replied back to that effect, without the name calling of course lol, and spoon fed him the attachment also.

  • Weekend was fun - birthday party for GS3 on Saturday. We also celebrated H's birthday Friday night. Friday was their birthday. We came home yesterday which was our 40th anniversary. We went out last night to one of our favorite restaurants. They comped us dessert and limoncello for our anniversary. We left this morning for Virginia. FIL's funeral is Wednesday with the calling tomorrow night. H wanted to make sure we got here in time for the calling. We are meeting one of his sisters, a brother, nephew and his wife for dinner in just a bit. Our kids arrive tomorrow. DD is coming without the rest of her family because it is just to expensive to fly 5 people at the last minute plus they were just here. The kids don't get everything about Great grandpap dying. SIL feels bad about not coming but someone has to stay with the kids!

@CharmedPam the bathroom looks great. 1000% better! Hope the cold weather people are experiencing goes away soon. It is going to be in the 80s here the next couple of days. Today is in the 60s.
  • Thanks everyone :)

@ILoveBeachMusic, happy 40th and happy Bday to the hubs.  Thinking of you in the upcoming days, condolences to you and the family
