Wedding Woes

Hump Day

How's everyone?  I'm a bit groggy today but I imagine I'll snap out of it.  Super busy day but that's pretty SSDD for this time of year.  Wishing everyone a good day!

Re: Hump Day

  • Chiquita and I are one day into our safe boating course.  I think the two of us need to study tonight to quiz each other.  Tomorrow is course day two and then we get the weekend to continue to test each other.

FINALLY got the updates on spring soccer for Chiquita because we don't want to actually be in our house.   I do love that the kids are active and I just wish I was able to grab a magic wand and clean up.
  • Costco and prescription Walmart run put off until today.  I was just too exhausted when I got off work last night.

The tenant in my personal duplex gave us notice yesterday that he will be moving out on June 15th.  So bummed!  He's been there for over 6 years and is a great tenant.  It's been a good run.  He thinks his cousin and her H might want to move in.  It would be nice to not worry about finding a new tenant but, we'll see.  If not, at least one silver lining is we could raise the rent by about $200/month, which will make the house that much more attractive when we sell it later this year.

He's an odd duck though, who can be a lot of big talk.  He's always making grandiose plans that never seem to come to fruition.  And the reason he is leaving is for one of those.  My H and I privately made a "nickel bet" about it.  I'm betting that he is leaving on June 15th.  My H is betting that he will change his mind and stay.

    My quandary:

I might even take a bigger gamble and buy most of his furniture from him.  He used to run his side as an AirBnB sometimes.  I could run that side as a STR while I live there.  And then sell it as a house with a successful STR history (and bookings) attached to it.  Unfortunately, the huge caveat with that is in this city, people can only get a STR license if they are an owner-occupant.  So only another owner-occupant could keep running it as a STR.  If another investor buys it, which is a good probability because it's a duplex, they won't care about the STR part and I would have bought his furniture for no reason.  BUT, depending on what he charges me, I might make enough in the few months I run it as a STR to cover that extra expense anyway.  Gotta say, I'm leaning this way.

Do you know what I want the most from his side if I went this route?  The curtains, lol.  They are GORGEOUS.  He had them custom-made, specifically for this house.  They are white with a navy blue design and his couch almost perfectly matches that blue color.

He also told me he might be interested in buying the house and to let him know when I am ready to list it.  Hmmm...maybe he'll let me rent the furniture.  And then everything will stay just the way he left it, if he buys the house, lol!

  • @CharmedPam it's so both Chiquita and I can drive the boat.  It would also allow Chiquita to operate a small inflatable on her own at this age (like a tiny dinghy with a small outboard motor) and then by the time she's 16 this would give her a personal watercraft license so she could operate a jet ski too.

CT is pretty strict which I'm grateful for so now we just need to study and pay attention to all the rules.
  • @CharmedPam, Thanks!  STR=Short-term rental.  It's shorter than saying AirBnB, plus more accurate since there are other sites like that and properties can be put on all of them.  VRBO is another big one.

I'm sorry to hear you're feeling a bit down that your ex is engaged.  I think I'd feel the same way.  Like, "I hope my ex has a good life and I wish him well.  But he better not be happy with someone else before me!"

  • There are two mysteries at my work.  One of them is personal.

I had two Monster Energy sodas in a door shelf of the fridge.  One of them was frozen solid this morning and the can was distorted.  I'm so glad it didn't explode!  But how did it get frozen to begin with?  The can next to it was fine.

While I was in the breakroom pondering this oddity, I overheard one of our maintenance people talking to another employee about 720 missing creamers.  I'm not sure over what time frame that happened.  I don't think it was anything like actual boxes missing.  It seemed more like there was a sudden huge uptick in how much creamer our floor has been using.

  • @CharmedPam I think it’s normal to feel a certain type of way when someone who treated you terribly has a life event like that. Two years ago my ex announced he was having a baby with his wife (who he cheated on me with and later married). I don’t even want kids but I had some feelings and I was surprised a little bit by them. *hugs* to you. Feel free to have the feels and then go treat yourself to something nice and remember you don’t have to deal with his shenanigans any longer.

Yay for 2 year anniversary! @climbingsingle I hope you feel better.

SSDD today. This week feels long. I had a 13 hour class to complete on Monday. Yesterday I took the skills portion of the test and then I ran errands the rest of the day and it makes me feel like it should be Friday. The weekend is jam packed too and unfortunately my coworker asked me to switch next Friday for her Tuesday so I’ll only have one day off in between all of the events. At least after that I’ll have a nice long weekend.

  • @CharmedPam I do have sensitive skin and sometimes get random rashes/hives like that. I've never been able to link it to anything though so it's quite frustrating.

And I think it's totally normal to feel that way about your exH. I'm sure I would have the same exact feelings. I try so hard not to harbor any anger and resentment anymore, but I'd sure be happy if he ended up alone and miserable.
  • I’ve been in the office three times already this week and I seriously cannot fathom how I used to do this every day. It’s exhausting! People just want to talk and I get SO MUCH less work done.

Otherwise we’re good. We made it through Ms first stomach bug with no one else getting it!
  • @climbingsingle That sounds awful!  Sorry that you had such a bad rash.

@CharmedPam I would understand that.  I don't have an ex, but if Hubby and I ever split I would probably feel sad that he found someone else.

@short+sassy That's a lot of creamers!  But it depends if its over a lot of people.  Gross story, but I remember car shopping with my parents when I was really little, and while I was bored waiting for them I would go to the coffee station, put a packet of sugar in one of the little creamers, and drink it straight like a shot.  Now I cannot fathom just drinking sugary cream.

A nice day at work.  I was training the first two days, now I am just supporting them for the day.  Good to have a day when I'm not "on" all day.  I'm usually naturally cheerful, but when you are training you have to be cheerful and not show when you are stressed and make things interesting .... it can be exhausting.

  • @banana468 how is your dad?  Any word on that?

Thanks for asking!  He's getting discharged by tomorrow and will be at the rehab facility near my parents' house.  I'm planning to go see him this weekend.
I hope he isn't in too much pain.

  • glad M is feeling ok! Stomach bugs with kiddos too little to control where *stuff* ends up is not fun.

@banana468 glad to hear your dad is going to a rehab facility instead of home right away!

@CharmedPam i would be very upset too, no shame there.

    @climbingsingle hope your feeling better!
